  1. Report is coming in the next week or so. But a brief update on the positions:

Shadow retired from Taldryan Consul and Halcyon was nominated by pretty much the entire clan to replace him. Thanks go to Shad for his work, and congrats to Halc for being forced out of retirement again.

Eludajae was chosen as Fiction Tribune. Ludy had a solid application, and I've already discussed some in-depth plans with her for expanding activities in the DB.

Alexander Anderson was selected as P:GM. He's going to be helping me with about a million projects, and I look forward to working with him.

  2. Hi everyone,

Apologies for my absence over the past couple of weeks - between being sick and work being hectic, my online time had been drastically cut down. Things are looking up for me, though, so I'll be able to be around more frequently.

The Eraser Competition ended yesterday, technically. Seeing as there are only three battles to be completed, though, I'll grant a grace period until 11:59 PM EST on Friday June 3 for the battles in the queue to be finished. We will be judging battles and tallying wins/losses during that period. Once everything is compiled, I'll be applying everyone's wins this weekend; everything will hopefully be finished by Sunday evening.

Also, now that the Eraser Competition is over, look for new competitions coming out in a couple of weeks. Ideally, we're going to be running a "lower ranks" ladder (whether capped by DB rank or ACC rank), and following that, a new ACC Championships. Stay tuned for more info!

That's all from me this week. Sorry for the brevity of the report; once I'm back on my feet from being sick and working crazy hours, I'll be able to give you something more substantial. And finally, Happy Canada Day to all us crazy Canucks!

  3. Final GJW Awards

Just moments ago I awarded the last of the medals earned during the Ninth Great Jedi War. I apologize for the delay on the CFs, but I had to study for and take the med school admissions exam a little while ago, so I hurriedly did the Novae and Seals right after the GJW, leaving the CFs for this week. So, as of right now, any medals you earned (Novae, Seals, CFs) from the GJW should be awarded.

Errors: If you feel I have made an error in your awarding, please contact me via email. DO NOT simply email me saying, "this isn't right" or "you messed up". If you are claiming an error, explain why the number was incorrect. Any emails I receive with no explanation will be ignored.

Edit: I've received a few emails so far, which reminded me I should mention that we used a simplified CF rewarding system for this GJW. Specifically, there were no multipliers used for the team gaming matches, and we used these win/loss numbers:

    JO/JA/JK/RC BF/BFII - 1 per win, 1/3 per loss
EaW - 3 per win, 1 per loss

Hello and welcome to another edition of The Gaming Tribune Report. As commonly happens to all of us, real life has been catching up with me as of late, hence the lack of report. You’ll be glad to know that today, however, Clusters of Fire, Pendants of Blood and further ICTE-related Clusters of Fire were requested and swiftly approved, so remember to send your love to Kaek when you check out your new shinies (Really! E-mail him many many times. He likes it!). Let’s get this show on the road, then, shall we

Do you like adventure? Thrills? Excitement? Do you want to be all that you can be? Then whatever you do, don’t read what’s below this message.
I am as of now opening up a position in the gaming staff. We say goodbye to our good friend Quejo who has resigned and Tirano, who was starting to go bad, he hadn’t been dusted in a while too, so… Good luck out there, both of you!
While I would like to divulge what this glamorous position entails, I’m not going to. I need to assess many things, among which, e-mail response time, so, e-mail me asking me about the position if you are interested. Also, as you do this, be sure to include what you, individually, would like to bring to the table and what characteristics make you optimal for a job in the Brotherhood gaming scene. I hope to hear from a lot of you. Spam me! Fill up my mail box like there’s no tomorrow! (That sounded dirty…)

Finally, I’d like to send a shout out to Bachatta. He has been one supremely active gamer since the beginning of my reign- uh.. *cough* my term as tribune and I hope to see more from this up and coming young go-getter. Game on!

As some of you might know, the tournament was successfully launched and shortly after, it successfully failed. As most people did not bother to show up at all for the Jedi Outcast half of the tournament, I have decided to effectively shut down that ladder since not even e-mailing the concerned parties worked. I apologize to those (few) of you who did show up and looked forward to playing in this ladder. The Jedi Academy ladder survives, though if there isn’t activity, not for long. The status of this ladder is as follows:

Team 1 (Baron and Strategos): Disqualified.
Team 2 (Bachatta and Phoenix): In the finals!
Team 3 (Vardar and Sidarace): In the finals!
Team 4 (Lailoken and Ocih): Defeated. (with a one-man handicap *glares at Ocih*)

So this is what it comes down to, Team 2 vs. Team 3 in the finals! I hope that everyone shows up. And I do mean everyone. Because if either team wins by disqualification or forfeit the total reward for this tournament will be the couple of Clusters of Fire for the match. I really want to give out two EARNED crescents. I’ll be e-mailing everyone involved in the finals very soon as I don’t want this tournament to drag itself out into July more than it already has.

Pretty much the same as in my last report as things have been slow, as I’ve already mentioned.

There’s also a little itty bitty tiny whisper of a project around concerning gaming and the various Clans of the brotherhood. Could this be why the gaming staff position has just been opened? Is there fun in the horizon? Has the Gaming Tribune gone slightly mad? Will Vardar ever stop referring to himself in the third person??? Tune in on the next episode – same bat-time, same bat-channel!

    Get gaming! ;)

  5. Xander's eventful term as Left Hand of Justice has expired, so I am now taking applications for the position. If you don't know what the LHoJ does, read about it here!

Here are the criteria you must meet to apply:
    -Rank of at least DJK
    -Past DB leadership experience
-Must have passed the DB Judicial Certification Course - CoJ 1
(in the past, or you can take it now)

As always, I would prefer some "legal" experience as well, such as classes taken in school, etc - but this is not a requirement.

Reminder: The Dark Sage (Law) degree from the Shadow Academy requires a term of CoJ service as Justicar or a Hand of Justice.

The CoJ has several events on it's docket, so this is going to be a short application period. I will take applications beginning now until Monday, July 6th.

    Greetings,

A few questions have arisen regarding the variety of titles and honorifics we have in the Brotherhood. Last week I drafted an updated policy to address these questions and clarify the official stance on these titles and honorifics.

You may find the new policy at this link temporarily. The Policies and Projects page will be updated soon.

    Chamber of Justice Communique #028a

On this day, June 27, 2009 of the Liberated Brotherhood, I the Justicar of the Brotherhood now announce the punishment that this Chamber lays upon Jalek Rya (AKA Androc).

Upon the conclusion of fair and just proceedings, this Chamber finds you:

    i) Cloning - You knowingly and willfully created the Dark Jedi Brotherhood personas "Ts'ao Eth Tenshi" and "Ghostwolf4" and used these unauthorized clones for gain.
    The Chamber finds you GUILTY.

ii) Violation of Probation - You knowingly and willfully violated your probationary term by acting against the Articles of Conduct and Reprimand set forth by the Dark Covenant.
    The Chamber finds you GUILTY.

Sentencing for the party is as follows -
As approved by a sentencing jury, you will be stripped of all medals and awards, demoted to the rank of initiate, and expelled from the Dark Jedi Brotherhood roll permanently, never to return.

    Chamber of Justice Communique #028b
DB vs Jalek - Justicar's Opinion

The initial complaint was brought to the Justicar by a concerned member after he noticed a suspicious hostmask on IRC. The Justicar initiated an investigation, which turned up several pieces of information. First, multiple IRC hostmasks of Ts'ao Eth Tenshi matched those of "Androc", another member of the Brotherhood who had been previously prosecuted by the Chamber (and was on probation). When Ts'ao was approached about this, he admitted that he indeed was Androc (now going by the name Jalek Rya). This indicated that Ts'ao was a clone created by Androc. This was confirmed via multiple IP matches logged by the Brotherhood website. During the investigation, another clone, "Ghostwolf4" was found via IP matches as well.

The Chamber charged Jalek with two counts of cloning, and with violating his probation. Jalek did not espond to the charge notification, so an automatic plea of not guilty was entered. To determine the trial type, the Chamber considered the maximum punishment that could be sought in this case. To this point, Jalek had already been separately warned, given an Letter of Reprimand, and charged (and found guilty) by the Chamber of Justice. This demonstrated a clear pattern of recidivism and complete disregard for the rules of our organization. It was determined that expulsion would be the maximum penalty sought, so Jalek would face a trial by jury.

The jury was selected under the supervision of the Grand Master, who verified that the jury was selected at random, as required by the Covenant. The prosecution and defense submitted their arguments, and the jury deliberated. Their decision was unanimous, they found Jalek guilty of cloning and violating his probation. After the guilty verdict, the Justicar reviewed the defendants history and recommended expulsion. A second jury was randomly selected, again under the Grand Masters supervision, to determine whether expulsion was warranted. The Justicar provided the arguments for expulsion - including warnings for poor behavior, a Letter of Reprimand for using another members administrative access to recommend a promotion for himself, and being found guilty in two Chamber trials of Attempted Hacking, Attempted Cloning, Cloning, and Violating his Probation. The sentencing jury agreed with the Justicar's recommendation, unanimously approving the expulsion.

During his time here, Jalek demonstrated a complete disregard for the rules of the Dark Brotherhood. From the moment he joined, he repeatedly violated the Dark Covenant. He was instructed on multiple occasions that his behavior was unacceptable – yet he continued. After being given his first Letter of Reprimand, he immediately came up with a scheme to gain inappropriate access to other dossiers. After he was found guilty of attempted cloning and hacking and put on probation, he immediately created two new clones in direct violation of his probation.

The Dark Covenant exists to create a fun and fair environment for all of our members. However, when a member repeatedly demonstrates complete and utter disregard for the Covenant and his fellow members, he forfeits the right to membership in our organization.
