11. FIGHTING SKILLS

The Brotherhood uses a number of fighting skills besides lightsabers and hand-to-hand combat, ranging from the shooting of blasters to the quick slashes of daggers. Some fighters may use a weapon in one hand, a weapon in each hand or a two-handed weapon. Descriptions of each individual fighting skill are below.

11.1 STRONG HAND/OFF HAND

The ability to combine your physical ability (reflected by your Attributes) and your knowledge of a weapon's techniques (reflected by your rating in a specific fighting skill - Dagger, Sword, Blaster Pistol/Rifle, etc.) to use a weapon effectively in battle. Your strong hand is listed under "hand" in the Character Information section of your Character Sheet.

Any time you wield a weapon, your skill with that weapon may not be higher than your score in Strong Hand or Off Hand. Example: You want to dual-wield blaster pistols. If your Blaster score is 5, your Strong Hand score is 4 and your Off Hand score is 3, your strong hand is considered to have a blaster score of 4, and your off hand is considered to have a Blaster score of 3.

Note: The strong hand/off-hand system will be replaced in the future by one skill, called "Ambidexterity". More information will be provided once the system is released.

11.2 BLASTER PISTOL/RIFLE

The ability to use blaster pistols, carbines, and rifles in combat effectively.

11.3 DAGGER

The ability to use short-bladed weapons and vibroblades in combat effectively.

11.4 SWORD

The ability to use long-bladed weapons like swords in combat effectively.

11.5 QUARTERSTAFF/POLE WEAPONS

The ability to use long-hafted spears, poleaxes, and staves in combat effectively.

11.6 WHIP/TETHERED WEAPONS

The ability to use whips, flails, chains, and other flexible weapons in combat effectively.

11.7 SHURIKENS/THROWN WEAPONS

The ability to throw items in combat effectively. Grenades, shuriken, darts, and throwing daggers are included in this skill.

11.8 PILOTING

The capacity of a character to control vehicles in combat effectively.
