16 December 2005
News & Information
I will be on LoA from the 19th of December to the 5th
of January. DA Corran Halcyon Arconae [DCM] can take care of most (if not all)
issues until I get back.
The Semi-Finals of the Second CHL have begun! The GM vs Muz Ashen and
DJM Xanos vs the DCM - both match-ups should prove to be pretty damn good - at
least, they'd better be :P Root for your favorite fighters!!! Pinups and
souvenirs can be purchased in the gift-shop :P
There is an ACCLive! tourney getting ready to start! Information
about it, and directions for signing up are here:
http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=368
There are a couple of Clan comps running or planned - with my LoA,
blease be sure to get in touch with the DCM if you have any issues that can't
wait till I get back.
The ACC was opened up to Trainer Applications the week before last, and I just
wanted to clarify the "not optional" application requirements and
remind you that we are closed to apps tomorrow - the 17th!!:
- Send applications to me, the DCM, your House leader and one Clan leader as
applicable (i.e. if you're the PCON, the "one" Clan leader is the CON, you don't
have a House leader :P)
- The application will include the appropriate protocol (i.e. don't start
the app with "whazzzuuuup" and include your ID Line)
- Sell yourself, why do you think we should hire you? (i.e. "cuz I gots good
writin' skillz..." is NOT what we're looking for :P)
- A "blurb" of recommendation from your immediate leadership (i.e. they are
not required to write an entire letter, just a few lines of "support". After
all, a Trainer's job can be pretty demanding - if you end up being a "good"
trainer, the possibility of your Clan activity dropping off is pretty likely)
- A link to one of your battles, or an attached example of your writing
(i.e. this "should" be something that you think is worth reading - didn't think
I needed to say that :P)
Note: These 5 requirements have a specific intent - failing to meet one
of them will see your app kicked back. In some cases, all you'll have to do is
fix what you missed and re-submit. In others, you may be asked not to apply
again.
ACC Projects have mostly been shelved until after the New Year. I am
still pressing on with the compendium and we are still in the works with things
like the "ACC Tech Data" and the Ranks because those are things that just need
to keep moving until they get through each person in the chain. I had mentioned
some time ago about some more rebirth aspects that would be released - and those
are the things that got put on hold. Rest assured, they'll still come - along
with the "real" Co-Op - but I thought it would be nice to give the staff a
decent break for a while so they can get back to their Clans a little more than
they had been. The FP System seems to be trucking along and the staff is
treating it exactly as intended - so, I have high hopes for the other stuff -
especially since that was (by far) the most sensitive out of all of it - I still
get the "tantrum" mails about it, but all I can do is laugh at them :)
Reminders
A new reminder this week concerns your CS's and the approval of some
items. Recently an individual's CS was declined because of a BS weapon and a
poor species description. Of course, I got the pleasant email that basically
said "f**k you! you're a d**k..."... a witty argument, to be sure, but
ineffective to say the least. I will regurgitate a bit of info that came prolly
about 9-10 months ago: If you're 'updating' a CS with things that got "approved"
by a former CM - don't be surprised if it gets declined. The fact of the
matter is this: we "had" anywhere from 4-8 people approving CS's, there were no
definitive guidelines for CS approval (only ideas) and the run of 120+ CS's a
month; there's bound to be a ton that slip through the cracks. "Old approved
items", for example, are clearly tallied on the forum - what you see there is
ALL that was approved by former CM's (they were asked repeatedly for updates,
I've washed my hands of it). Bottom line? I don't give two drops of monkey piss
what "you tell me" another CM approved. If there is no proof of approval from a
former CM (which I would gladly honor), didn't come through me or Corran,
contradicts any policy changes or is just basically a pile of sh*t - it's going
to be declined. The CM and DCM are the only two that are approving declining
CS's, currently. We are on the same page with 99.9% of it and it will stay that
way until rebirth. After which time, as I said a long time ago, you can have all
the vampires, other non-SW characters and lightsabre defeating stuff you want
because we won't be the authority. In fact, I'm thinking of creating a goth Ewok
with a Cortosis cod-piece :P
- Echani as a fighting style has been taken up by the Commander of the
Guard where it's 'approval' is concerned. The CM/DCM will no longer process
approvals or declinations for this style, rather, should you wish to be approved
for its use - please seek the counsel of the CoG.
- The Force Pool System has been released - combatants with battles
that started on or after the 1st of Nov should see an OOC in their intros. You can
find the FP System information
here.
- Concerning time-outs: If you know you're going to
be LoA, you need to "officially" request a battle extension, even if I know
you're going to be gone. You MUST mail the CM, DCM and your
opponent with the request BEFORE your battle times out. If your opponent says
"no"... tough luck, if you "forget" to send your request in time, to those
mentioned... tough luck. "Acts of God" and unavoidable instances will be
considered - but they will not replace poor planning on your part.
- To have a competition 'set up' through the ACC,
the coordinators need to mail the CM or the DCM. Once all the specifics of the
competition have been worked out, the CM or DCM will submit the competition FOR
YOU! This is to cut down on the last-minute "hey, remember that competition I
told you about 5 months ago and haven't brought up with you since... yea,
well... it's starting tomorrow..." stuff. This way, we can track your
competitions and make sure they get set up properly and in a timely manner -
"forgetting" about it becomes our fault, not yours.
Tip Of The Week
Christmas butt-kicking!!
For those "ambitious" members - the holiday can be a very lucky time of
year. With everyone going LoA, some lingering competitions are ripe for the
picking. A few of you will be the only ones participating, so it's a great time
to get some medals and stuff if they are to be had. If you are a member of a
Clan/House/BT that isn't offering anything over the holidays, it's also a great
time to make some brownie points with your leadership - i.e. using the down time
to do a project for the Clan that needs doing like Clan system details and
things of that nature. This can be a great time to 'excel' - don't pass it up if
you're going to be around! Just a thought...
