Clan Arcona History

1 – Introduction
Greetings, students of the Dark Side.
This course has been designed to teach the history and lore of Clan Arcona, one of the oldest Clans of the Brotherhood. Throughout the course, we will learn about the early history of Arcona, its leaders, its home, and its greatest successes. There will still be much to learn, as there always will be, but sometimes even the most secure of vaults cannot contain the darkest secrets of Arcona.
2 – History
2.A – Formation
In 14 ABY, before the great conflicts of the Brotherhood and the Yuuzhan Vong Incursion were even dreams or nightmares, House Arcona was formed. It was formed by an ambitious Dark Jedi named Donitz, who spent a great amount of time gathering support for his new independent House. Under the rule of Grand Master Khyron, the Brotherhood at this time was composed of four clans: Scholae Palatinae, Satal Keto, Aquillas, and Tarentum, as well as the independent houses of Arcona and Naga Sadow, both destined to grow into their own clans.
A year later, Quaestor Nighthawk received permission to turn the Independent House into a Clan. Shortly after, Clan Arcona won Orthanc, an Interdictor cruiser, from Satal Keto. The ship was later given to Clan Taldryan, but was a symbol of triumph in Arcona’s early days. Two Houses were created within the new Clan, the first of which was Galeres. House Galeres was primarily a militaristic House, containing the most combative of the battle teams, like the well-known Soulfire Strike Team and Dark Orb Phyle. Galeres would become aligned with the Obelisk Order. The other House was Qel-Droma, and was more focused on the arcane and mystical. Qel-Droma was known for its education and guidance so naturally it became aligned with the Krath, and took safeguarding the Temple of Arcona as its chief duty.
Then, a year after Arcona formed as a Clan, tragedy struck Clan Scholae Palatinae when the Star Chamber destroyed them. Two of their Houses, Dorimad Sol and Acclivis Draco, were offered shelter in Arcona, merging and becoming new House Oriens Obscurum, which oversaw the fleets for a time. This was the start of bitter relations between Clan Arcona and Clan Scholae Palatinae, as those original members that moved back to CSP after its rebirth had their memories returned, apparently showing their abuse and torture at the hands of the Arconans.
2.B – Great Jedi War
When a prized possession discovered by Grand Master Khyron was stolen by pirates, Khyron ruthlessly hunted the pirates until he discovered their base. He then called the Clans together to punish the pirates for stealing the artifact, and Arcona was the first to answer the call to war.

Rallying around the Grand Master’s warbanner, Clan Arcona and the rest of the Brotherhood’s forces smashed the pirates, slaughtering them all and reclaiming the crystal that had been stolen. Khyron was greatly impressed by the Clans, but was the most impressed by the efforts of the independent House Ektrosis. Clan Arcona took second in the war, and won a Carrack cruiser that would be named Nighthawk in honor of the Consul.
Three Brotherhood-wide wars later, Clan Arcona found itself in a time of crisis. The attack upon its interests at the outset of the war, coupled with the civil war caused by the dreaded Infection, had brought the mighty Clan to a weakened state it had not seen in recent memory.
Having been made Consul in the midst of the great conflict, Vassan Rokir was now responsible for Arcona’s rebuilding, and return to its former glory. But the costs of the war had been high: ships destroyed, soldiers killed, the member Dark Jedi wounded both physically and spiritually. Expansion was needed, and a refilling of the Clan coffers. However, they were in no state to wage another war so soon after the last.
2.C – The Exodus
The Exodus was a difficult time for Clan Arcona, as it was for the entire Dark Brotherhood. Much of the specifics of how the Exodus took place in Clan Arcona is lost to time in the haste and anger of the split, but historians can piece together a bit of what happened from testimonials and written works from that time.
Nearly all of the Clan chose to go with the Brotherhood, and hastily packed everything they could carry. However, many treasured items were left behind because they could not be carried by those fleeing the Coronada System. The Exodus hit House Qel-Droma the hardest. Being primarily a Krath House, and having to determine between irreplaceable and expendable items like databases, records, and artifacts in a short time, it was particularly painful and difficult during the split.
At first, nobody knew where the new home of Clan Arcona would be, or if they could even get one. However, the newly obtained Book of Shadows, written by Ulic Qel-Droma, served to guide the Clan Summit to a new system, Dajorra. The loyal members of the three Houses gathered their scarce belongings and began the journey to their new home. Upon arrival, a makeshift base was thrown up on the planet Sukhur, one of the harshest planets in the system.
Houses Galeres and Oriens Obscurum both wanted to build their bases on the planet Eldar, where only one could settle. So, Consul Vassan Rokir declared a Feud between the two Houses, and fierce fighting commenced. After the dust had settled, House Galeres was shown to be slightly stronger, and claimed the planet Eldar as its own while Oriens Obscurum set up base on Selen.
2.D – Restlessness
The Sixth Great War commenced when corruption among the greatest Sith Lords of the Brotherhood began to split the Clans apart, fierce fighting broke out amongst the great Clans of the Brotherhood and the corrupted Clans, leading to a terrible war on the heels of Arcona’s reconstruction efforts. Even so, Arcona fought valiantly, and were well led by the Summit.
When another great war rolled around, Arcona was ready. This time, the Clans had thrown their alliances between two conflicting Grand Masters, one of which was a clone. Arcona, Taldryan, and Scholae Palatinae fought on one side against Tarentum, Naga Sadow, and Plagueis. Arcona fought hard and was determined to win, but Taldryan was once again crowned victor. Arcona placed third, and the clone of Jac Cotelin was slain as events in the Brotherhood slowly returned to normal.
2.E – Yuuzhan Vong
When the Yuuzhan Vong invaded, Clan Arcona’s fleet answered the call to battle. In an initial battle in the Shroud, the Clan Arcona flagship, the M/STRKC Eye of the Abyss was destroyed by another Arconan ship. The Consul at the time, Timeros Caesus Entar, was not onboard.
It is reputed that the ACC Thanatos was the one to destroy the Eye of the Abyss, with the Consul onboard. There, a Palatinae pilot was captured and held for questioning by Timeros and Mejas Doto. The Palatinae fleet had fled to the Judecca System, leaving Arcona’s ships stranded alone. The pilot was killed, and Timeros made the call to retreat to the Cocytus system. The VSD Excidium, Clan Scholae Palatinae’s flagship, and the ACC Thanatos battled in the Cocytus System, until the Excidium retreated further into the Judecca system so Consul Braecen could view the results of the Vongforming.
The Yuuzhan Vong invaders overran the Dajorra System, and Clan Arcona was forced from its home. The Clansmen moved aboard the ships of the fleet, setting up temporary homes there. New ships were commissioned, including the new ISDII Eye of the Abyss II, as well as two Bothan Assault Cruisers, the Darkest Night and Shadow.
After the Dajorra system was lost, Arcona was left to live aboard the fleet, but they itched to be free of the crowded capital ships and back on solid ground.
