Department of Combat Tactics:
Combat Tactics I

Introduction

In this course, you will be taught many different things about combat. You will see different vehicles and armour that will help towards you understanding of combat: how each armour and vehicle has its own unique design, the bonuses, and what problems you may encounter. Overall, this will make you look into what type of armour and vehicle suits you in different situations and give you a better understanding of what can tip the balance in combat.

It is normally believed in combat that the person with the better equipped men win a fight, but is this true? This exam will look at different ways in which we use vehicles on the field of combat, how they are armed, as well as other things. Overall, the true way to succeed on the field of combat is to know what type of vehicles suits the type of battlefield or situation that it will be going into.

Transport Vehicles

The best way to be able to transport men around the battlefield is by using armoured transports. Most think of these as being the massive walkers the empire used known as AT-ATŐs, but in fact they come in all different sizes and at this moment in time you have to remember that only specific vehicles will fit the amount of troops you wish to transport. At the same time, you have to look at a disadvantage of having certain vehicles that will not work on certain types of terrain.

All-Terrain Assault Transport (AT-AT)

Manufacturer: Kuat Drive Yards
Roles:

-Armored Walkers
-Mechanized infantry
-Self-propelled artillery
-Troop transport
Length: 20 meters
Height: 23 meters
Speed: 60 km/h
Crew:
– Pilot
– Co-pilot/gunner
– Commander
Troop Capacity : 40 Stormtroopers
Weapons:
– Two Medium Repeating Blasters
– Two Fire-Linked Laser Cannons

In designing its primary ground assault vehicles, the Empire knew that fear and superstition would play a large part in destroying the moral of those who might oppose its ground forces. To this end, Palpatine approved a series of vehicles that resembled, more than anything else, massive beasts that dwarfed any repulsor lifts of crawlers in use by the worlds of the Old Republic. Assembled at the Kuat Drive Yards to exacting specifications, the AT-AT is the largest of the walker designs, and can perform equally well in desert, forest, or snow conditions. These impressive metal monsters move along at a rapid and unstoppable rate, crushing anything and everything in its path beneath its massive durasteel feet. The great height from which it is controlled allows the AT-AT crew to see over obstacles that might hamper other vehicles, such as trees or the low buildings. The AT-AT’s head section is connected to the main body by a flexible armored tunnel resembling a neck, and this flexibility permits the control cockpit to swing from side to side and up and down as if the beast were peering around for its victims. The standard crew consists of an AT-AT Commander, a pilot, and a co-pilot, who is primarily responsible for weapons. AT-AT walkers load and drop the troops they carry by “kneeling” to allow the use of a ramp in the main body. In this way, battle ready Stormtroopers hit the ground running, weapons drawn, initially shielded from enemy fire by the massive bulk of the walker above and around them. Depending on the internal configuration, AT-AT could also carry smaller vehicles like speeder bikes and up to two All-Terrain Scout Transports.

All-Terrain Personal Transport (AT-PT)

Manufacturer: Kuat Drive Yards
Roles:
– Heavy cavalry
– Strike Mech
Length: 4 Meters
Height: 3 Meters
Speed: 60 km/h
Crew: 1 (pilot)
Troop Capacity: 1
Weapons:
-1 Heavy Twin Blaster Cannon
-1 Concussion Grenade Launcher

The All-Terrain Personal Transport (AT-PT) was an experimental single-person walker design originally designed by the Galactic Republic. It was meant to turn a single soldier into an armed force that could take on and defeat an entire squad of troops. Ultimately, the AT-PT project was cancelled. The AT-PT can do impressively well against conventional ground forces. The Project designers developed the walker to be used for open ground, shallow water, jungle, mountain terrain and urban areas. The independently adjusting Leg Suspension System allows this vehicle to scramble over inclines and obstacles that would normally block repulsorlift and treaded vehicles. The Drive Legs can be extended upward for high-speed movement or to give the pilot a much superior observation position, or the opposite can be done where the walker is put into a “half-crouch” position for superior balance. Small side hatches allow access. The command pod is equipped with a primitive sensor system for navigation and also houses the Main Drive Unit. The AT-PT project was put into full production for the Imperial Remnant.

Unstable Terrain Artillery Transport (UT-AT)

Manufacturer: Kuat Drive Yards
Roles:
– Self-propelled artillery
– Combat service support
Length: 24 Meters
Speed: 45 km/h
Crew: 1 pilot, 5 gunners
Troop Capacity: 20
Weapons:
– 1 Forward Anti-infantry laser turret
– 4 Rear Anti-infantry laser turret
– 2 Side Medium laser cannons

The Unstable Terrain Artillery Transport (UT-AT) was a military transport and assault vehicle that served the Grand Army of the Republic and later the Empire when the use of walkers was unsuitable. Instead of “legs,” the UT-AT featured 16 low-power repulsorlift skis that would shift to properly balance the vehicle depending on the terrain. Four additional repulsorlift plates were located under the main carriage for propulsion. The skis had the ability to reverse their repulsion, causing gription fields and allowing the vehicle to ascend sheer surfaces if needed. The skis supplied superior stability when firing, and were particularly effective on unstable terrain. Aside from the normal configuration, Bomblet generators were also installed, allowing drivers to unleash a maelstrom of ion-charged destruction on opposing droid armies. Shells and other artillery were stored externally on racks. Standard configuration UT-ATs also featured four anti-personnel turrets in the rear of the craft; although variants featured supplies to bolster the vehicle’s standard bomblet generators while others stored temporary bridge equipment and kits.

Light Assault Vehicle

– Mobile command post
– Combat support
– Reconnaissance

Speed: 350 km/h
