The name of "Tarentae" is the highest of all honors that can be bestowed upon a member of Tarentum. With this honor, new opportunities and authority are opened to those who bear it. With this name comes additional duties and responsibilities. As a group, the Tarentae comprise a fraternal Inner Circle of Tarentum. One which is concerned for the integrity and properity of the House above all else. They are examples of loyalty and diligent service for members of both the present and future to look to. Even as they move on to greater things, or part ways to tend to personal matter, they will have a continued say in the affairs of the House and will always be welcomed by the House with open arms.
Fictional Role
The Tarentae act as the Upper Nobility within Yridia. Charged with the long term health of House and System, they act with near carte blanche to ensure both function well. Politically they can sponsor legislation at will, meaning the item gets voted on immediately by either the Lower House or by a joint session of both Houses. They sit as some of the highest judges in the land. They pay for this power and prestige through their responsibilities. Any citizen is welcome to petition a member of the Tarentae for aid. Rarely are sincere, lawful and honorable requests turned down.
