Mar has seen almost all of his closest friends perish fighting against the Dark Side. As such it is rare for him to make any ‘real’ friends. Instead he tends to favour political relationships and other forms of emotionless allegiances. However, he values the few friends he has left more than most would all of their friends collectively.

Having seen many violent attacks on Jedi, Mar has developed a sense of patience. Rather than just run into a problem head first with his blade at the ready, he will often consider his position in a situation, observe and analyse before acting. He would rather teach his fellow Jedi how to combat and effectively dispatch dark-siders than run as a Lone Wolf. He would much prefer to lead his fellows into many successful battles.

When the time comes to fight, Mar can be seen to be gladly making decisions that many others would consider to be ruthless, which can lead to disarray when around strong willed folk who follow the Jedi Code, or any similar strict code.

Since the Invasion of New Tython, Mar has deeply believed that his Force Philosophy is the only true belief system for the Force, Any dark-sider is considered a parasite to the Force as a whole and must be exorcised. Mar would take any Force user and try and turn them to the Light, however were he to sense that they were not "Pure" he would be just as willing to execute them.

Due to his natural demeanour, his lack of emotion and cold eyes, Mar appears to be constantly judging those around him and those who do not know him would believe that his appearance reflects feelings of disdain towards others.

Although more than willing to kill anyone he believes to be evil. Mar is also incredibly aware of the ability to influence the tide of combat through morale - meaning that, should he find a way that he can damage an enemies morale, he will. Thus often resulting in Mar attempting to brutally kill his enemies leaders in-front of their troops. However, in more 'intimate' situations Mar would much rather dispatch of his opponent quickly.

The Aleena Jedi Corvus Corax remains as one of Mar’s close friends and can often be found standing on the Human’s shoulder - this is particularly true in the case of skirmishes and large scale battles, where Mar and Corvus will often work together, utilising Force Meld.

Despite sharing each others emotional pain on the battlefield it also enables them to unleash devastating co-ordinated attacks.
