Despite whatever all his other characteristics may convey, Maelous Ascarend retains the air of a person that is confident, if not arrogant. Minor (and often, major) things in his body language - his walk, his stance, his expressions - reveal these feelings. At times, it seems he borders upon narcissism, especially judging from how much he enjoys his own company.

Maelous Ascarend's life is filled with training and learning for all sorts of situations, from the mind-numbingly normal to the utterly bizarre. As such, Maelous Ascarend has developed into a rather resourceful individual. This has made Maelous Ascarend a mix of academic and scholar, always with something to offer to any discussion. However, knowledge and training does not always translate well to the tense environment of the battlefield, and no amount of textbooks can prepare one for reality...

Maelous Ascarend considers his work to be the most important aspect of his life. This borderline obsessions with the "job" leaves little room for any kind of personal or social life, making it difficult for Maelous Ascarend to relax and enjoy spending time with others. he excels in activities that relate to their work, but the idea of work-life balance is an altogether abstract concept.

Killing has never been a problem for Maelous Ascarend; and he kind of enjoys it now, if he is honest. Killing's what Maelous Ascarend does, and he likes what he does.

Maelous Ascarend seems to get his thrills, perhaps sadistic ones at that, from toying with his opponents. Some are content with simply striking down or injuring their opponent, but that is not enough for Maelous Ascarend. No, he wishes to see his enemy descend into madness or kneel before him as a blathering mess; or even better, as a fresh new servant with a muddled mind. The Puppeteer usually forsakes outright hurting and maiming his opponent and focuses on illusions, mind tricks, and other wicked means of destroying a person.

Through a mixture of cocksure courage and arrogant swagger, Maelous Ascarend will not back down from a challenge when called out, even if the wiser path is to walk away or let it go. Maelous Ascarend's personality does tend to rub a lot of people the wrong way, which generally puts him into situations that escalate quickly to violence. While he may not be the one to always start a fight, he will always see it through to it’s conclusion. Some have tried to play a challenge off as idle banter, but when Maelous Ascarend initiates or accepts a challenge, he does not hold back.
