Personal Image

Gulvyr Okami is a Kiffar Mandalorian with braided hair and a full beard grayed with age. He is tall with a boxer build, fairly muscular and tough, and still looking every bit the fighter he always was. His skin is rough and dry from many years of living in harsh environments, especially on his face and head, which is shaved at the sides. He has intense blue eyes underneath milky white brows, as well as pronounced cheekbones and a malformed nose, a result of too many breaks to count. The old Mandalorian's whole body is a relief of scar tissue and blaster burns. Eschewing traditional Kiffar facial markings, Gulvyr has instead covered his body in strange tattoos written in Mando’a and Aurebesh that represent anything from personal mementos to the names of enemies killed in battle. Nowhere are these tattoos more prominent than on his face and the sides of his head.

Patience Is The Companion Of Wisdom (General Aspect)

Gulvyr has experienced plenty in his long life and while he still lives his life just like a Mandalorian should, he feels the pressure of age. Despite his best efforts, he keeps falling behind his younger counterparts in combat. He is not as agile or as explosive as he used to be, but what he lacks in speed, strength, and accuracy he makes up for in patience, intelligence, and wisdom. Perhaps because of his age, he has learned the fortitude and restraint necessary to be a leader where he once had the eagerness and stubbornness to rush through every challenge.

Verburyc Vheh'ad (General Aspect)

Literally translated as "loyal dog", this cruel moniker was given to Gulvyr by Vauzem pirates of the Kiast system. Meant as an insult in their culture, the nickname stuck with Gulvyr's vod’e as an acknowledgment of his notoriety and a symbol of respect. It is a mark of Gulvyr’s unflinching devotion to his aliit, his clan — and especially their matriarch, Luna. That same devotion makes him abrasive, and borderline hostile towards people he finds completely opposed to his principles or those of his aliit.

Tor’manda (Personality Aspect)

Gulvyr's moral code stems from a heavily biased view of ancient Mandalorian justice . He disapproves of any unjust acts that would bring shame to the aliit, to the point of disciplining his own vod'e if they cross him or his views. He finds acts of unnecessary cruelty cowardly and honorless, not something a Mandalorian should strive for. This has led him often enough into many verbal or physical conflicts with those that do not see eye to eye with his views.

The Pack is All (Personality Aspect)

Though he is more often seen as the gruff and disciplined soldier outside his Clan, people who see him on Kaerls or among his brothers would swear he was a different person entirely. Gulvyr is a lover of community and family, he enjoys feasts and drinking contests, even fights among friends. He loves children, despite his, sometimes, serious exterior. These values have only expanded and enlarged with age as Gulvyr realized his own failings of not fathering any children. Some think feelings like these have made the brutal warrior weaker, feebler and more prone to making mistakes. If anything he has become more dangerous when his pack is threatened, though his relaxing demeanor has made him easier to manipulate.

Names Hold Power (Combat Aspect)

Until his mid-twenties, Gulvyr lived in a very hostile society ravaged by oppression. Learning to fend for himself and living without knowing his past or his name, he came to believe in a very personal tenet — names hold power and once you kill an individual and take their name, that power becomes your own. When in personal combat with anyone, Gulvyr will try to learn their name before engaging in honorable combat, so that he may tattoo it on his skin should he kill them in the end. This obviously ritualistic approach to vandalizing one’s skin makes Gul'vyr stand out even outside his armor, and is generally considered savage outside similar warrior cultures.

Sharp Wit, Steady Blade (Combat Aspect)

Gulvyr is an expert knife-handler and his knowledge of near-human anatomy is extensive. In conjunction, these two skills give him the aptitude to strike just the right spot to inconvenience, incapacitate, or kill, depending on the situation. While his mentality and patience have only grown with age, his physical prowess leaves much to be desired and often has him overextending with much more agile opponents.
