A capable fighter pilot with one clear distinction, he is permanently crosseyed.  Despite this apparent setback, Mort showed everyone up and proves his space-combat proficiency regularly as a proud Willing of the Ascendant Clan.  His fellow pilots in training started calling him Hawkeyes because of his occular condition.

Hawkeyes is going to be the best ace fighter pilot he can be, no matter what, despite his crossed eyes.  Believe it!

Chip on His Shoulder
People make fun of his eyes.  It's affected him to the point of inducing irrational accusations and ruined his love life.

Spray and Pray
Mort has to rely a little more on luck and intuition than the average dogfighter but has still managed to survive as a pilot this long.

Vision Impaired
Despite his validation as a pilot, Hawkeyes sometimes has trouble performing tasks those with normal sight might be able to do easier such as tying his boots or using holographic interfaces.

For the Overlords!
Hawkeyes is a loyal minion to a Tee.  Aliso's military was the only one that would take a crosseyed pilot so he owes the fulfillment of his dream to them.  He'd do anything for the Plagueians in charge.

Unorthodox Flying
Part of his prolonged survival in dogfighting comes from his strangely crosseyed flying style.  The result of his eye condition has become a strength as pilots with normal vision have trouble understanding his patterns and movements.
