Grand Master (GM)—The Grand Master is the highest Rank and postion in the Brotherhood. He has far reaching administrative responsibilities that cover nearly all aspects of the Dark Brotherhood. With the future interest of the organization in mind, he both leads the membership as a whole and directs the policies and hierarchy of the Brotherhood. This leader’s far-reaching perspective allows him to consider all of the seemingly disparate services, hierarchies, and other facets of the club when making decisions. His oversight unifies these different areas into one whole which we call the Dark Brotherhood. This tremendous responsibility is given to one talented individual and comes with widespread powers. He is in command of the entire Brotherhood.

The current Grand Master is Aristan Dantes

Deputy Grand Master (DGM) — The Deputy Grand Master has responsibilities and authority only second to the Grand Master. Operating under the auspices of the Brotherhood’s leader, the Deputy Grand Master often finds himself assisting through a variety of roles in nearly every aspect of the Dark Brotherhood. He assists the Grand Master in establishing policy and hierarchy, providing for the future of the organization. The Deputy Grand Master is important for the oversight of both the Dark Council and Clans alike, adding perspective to that of the Grand Master. Beyond his executive responsibilities to the Grand Master, however, the Deputy Grand Master has been given several important tasks on his own, such as the development and administration of Vendetta events. The Deputy Grand Master is often next in line for the Iron Throne, but his first line of duty is as a friend and advisor to the Grand Master.

Master at Arms (MAA)—The Master at Arms is the chief administrative officer of the Dark Council. With responsibilities that govern member and position administration throughout the Brotherhood, an active Master at Arms has a wide affect on the progress of the club. The primary responsibility of the Master at Arms is to enforce the standards and procedures for requests and changes within the Brotherhood. Among these are requests for promotions, medals, transfers, appointments, and removals. The Master at Arms also carries large responsibilities in ensuring the correct administration of competitions. He approves and watches over competitions, ensuring that there is parity between reward and effort. The Master at Arms is the first contact for new members of the Brotherhood – even before the Headmaster. He makes sure that members receive their activation emails and regularly watches for infringements in family and name policies.

The Headmaster (HM) is the person in charge of running the Shadow Academy, as well as the Dark Brotherhood's master of ritual and lore.

There are very few roles in which the success of the Councilor can have an astounding impact on the Brotherhood. Headmaster is one such role. Responsible for all new member affairs, the Headmaster’s activity is essential in keeping the lifeblood of the Brotherhood flowing as he ensures that new members are properly welcomed into the organization. The Headmaster works with the Master at Arms to ensure the proper elevation of members within Clans so as to retain the maximum number of active members possible. Beyond this, the Headmaster is in charge of the continuing education of regular members. He develops and keeps the Shadow Academy as a center for learning covering both fictional and practical subjects. Until it was dissolved, the Headmaster trained and kept the largest force of any Dark Councilor: the Society of Envoys.

Herald (HRLD)—Herald is both an administrative and architectural position. The day-to-day affairs of the Herald involve the development of Warbanners, Lightsabers, and Robes for members as they achieve the appropriate ranks. This important function allows members to gain some level of control over their own characters. However, the more important aspect of the Herald’s position comes in his work on graphics throughout the Brotherhood. The Herald is the Brotherhood’s prime image consultant and his work reaches to the very foundation of this club; without the images we see on our websites and within our documents, the Brotherhood lacks any luster. He works constantly to keep the Brotherhood graphics up-to-date and standard-driven. His work is often behind-the-scenes, but it is seen daily.

Seneschal (SCL)—Outside of the positions of Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master, Seneschal is the most overwhelming position in the Brotherhood. The primary caretaker and developer of all Brotherhood technology, this position has a list of duties that is long and a set of projects that never ends. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that the main Brotherhood website is up and running. The Seneschal works to add new features to the site and actively strives to document and improve the code that is already used. Outside of this, the Seneschal is often called upon to assist in building websites for smaller units and for special events like Vendettas. This Councillor helps the Grand Master in the administration of access to the Brotherhood server and works to keep the files there safe and free from corruption. The Seneschal also works to maintain the Brotherhood’s communication channels. He is charged with improving and updating the Brotherhood's IRC system and the Brotherhood message forum. The position of Seneschal can be intense and many times members will not understand the amount of effort that goes into his tasks. The position is rewarding, however, as the holder can single-handedly change the Brotherhood for the better.

Members

Leader of an entire Clan (appointed by the Grand Master), the Consul has a multitude of administrative duties. A Consul makes decisions on policy which affect the entire Clan, manages subordinate leaders, and oversees almost everything that occurs within the Clan. However, the Consul also has the responsibility to serve as a resource for the entire membership—he serves the interests of both the newest members and the most experienced masters and creates activities for them to do. In many ways, the Consul is a miniature Grand Master. One important difference, however, is that the Consul reports directly to the Dark Council. He acts as a middleman, combining the oversight and directives from the leaders of the Brotherhood with the needs of his Clan.
