First business, then onto something a little more personal. I would like to congratulate Jeric Cyrin in becoming Praetor. He has shown me that he can handle the reins without needing anyone to tell him so and his work has improve greatly since I first started working with him. I look forward to working alongside him. Also due to work and personal issues, Robin Hawk has resigned as Magistrate. Looking over the applications received, I have brought Ekeia Iclo and Dralin Fortea on board. The two of them have shown me that they have the heart and skill to do the job. I look forward to seeing how well they do on the Staff. Please join me in congratulating everyone who has taken up a position in the Office.

Now to something that I want to address. By the time you read this, I will be on my way to Great Lakes, Illinois for training to become a sailor in the United States Navy. I have wanted to join the military since I was a child and now that I have taken a step in this direction, I am looking forward to this journey. What does this mean? I will be taking an extended LoA until June 15th to be on the safe side. Hopefully, I will be back before then. If by that time I cannot perform my duties, I will give Muz and Sarin my resignation. I do not believe this will be an issue but I like to make sure everything is in order.

While I am gone, Jeric will be holding down the fort for the Herald's Office and I ask that Muz make sure they don't ruin my office too badly. If so, I ask that he punish the culprits with Force Lightning. :P. Til my return, please direct any questions you may have to Jeric and Muz. As for my duties as a member of the ACC Staff, I will be moving to the Reserves until Erin says she misses me badly. Then I'll make my appearance all sexily and such. :P

With all of the sappy crap done with, let's get to the sexiness!

This past month, I have had two sides of people talk to me or others in regards to my decision to join the military. One side has said that they are proud of me for taking up this position while the other side says it is foolish and because I had no other choice but to do so. What people do not realize is the military has been as much a part of me as my own flesh and blood. As a child, this is something I wanted to do and now, I found a way to combine my adult goals with my childhood goals.

How so? I want to serve my country and I want to get a college degree. The Navy is offering me a chance to do this and I would be a fool to lose this chance while doing a job I feel I would enjoy very much. So while I accept the thanks and the congratulations from those who give it, I look at the others and ask them where I have made my mistake. I am doing what I want and I aim to be successful at it. How can this be a mistake?

It isn't by my eyes. Seeing as this is my life, I believe my perceptions will be more valuable to me than the words of those who are quick to judge. I apologize if this session of the Wolf's Den seems a little aggressive but this is a goal I wanted to accomplish and I have. Our goals and hopes are all that we have at the end of the day. No one has the right to tread on them. And on that note, I thank everyone for your support and I will see you all in June.

May the Force serve you well...

  2. Hey guys,

Along with Kir and Shikyo, the Shadow Academy is also running a DJB-wide competition. I was planning on talking about it in my next report, but since that is pushed back I'm making a news announcement instead.

    Tombs of Wisdom

Hidden under the folds of Lyspair's vast terrain rests a vast Brotherhood Library known as the Dark Vault. Here lies thousands of years of history and knowledge of the Dark Brotherhood, the Dark Side, and the Galaxy and all that it holds. Between the hundreds of scrolls and datacards, there is information here enough to last a scholar five lifetimes.

A person's access to the Dark Vault varies. The newest of Apprentices are granted access to only the most basic of wisdom, while Elders see much more. So, too, does this rule apply for one's position. Even the Headmaster cannot enter as many rooms as the Grand Master, and indeed there are those sections that no one has seen since the original settlement of Antei's moon, even surviving the pillaging of the Yuuzhan Vong.

You have traveled to Lyspair to access the Dark Vault, searching for a piece of knowledge that will help you on your life quest. Little did you know, however, that you would find much more than what you asked for.

Write a short fiction of at least three pages detailing what you discovered within the tombs of the Dark Vault, and the impact it had on you. It may be ancient wisdom, reborn knowledge, or something of an entirely new origin.

    -----

Entries must be single-spaced, 12 font. All entries should be sent to sacompetitions@gmail.com

Second-level crescents go to the top three entries. This should be a fun and original piece of fiction, so I look forward to reading your pieces! Questions should be sent to me, while details can be found here!

  3. I know many of you are excited about the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic. Some of you are probably familiar with Adam Sessler and his show on G4 (X-play) - well he did an interview with the lead writer for The Old Republic, and also got some hands-on time.

You can check it out here.
  4. Due to the low level of submissions I've had so far, I'm making 2 changes to the competition. I'm adding an extra week (due date is a week from tomorrow), and I'm lowering the requirement to 2 pages. Now get started!

"The Forms of Vendetta are very specific," argued the Right Hand of Justice, "and they must be obeyed. There is no room for debate in this matter."

The Justicar nodded, then turned as the Left Hand began to speak, "We all know the Forms are archaic. The Clans have fought valiantly and now we are to punish their members?"

The Right Hand vigorously disagreed, "It isn't a matter of punishing their valor - the Forms prevent the Clans from decending into total chaos! If you think I will stand by while-"

"Enough." Said the Justicar, ending the debate. "The Forms may be ancient, but it is not our place to ignore them as we please. As long as they stand, we must enforce them. The tribunal will begin tomorrow, both of you shall be prepared."

Both Hands bowed to the bench, "Yes, Justicar."

The first general directive of the Art of Vendetta is, " The Forms of the Art of Vendetta must be obeyed." While our actual Codex entry includes many practical rules and descriptions, fictionally it could be assumed there is a more involved system governing the actions of Clans in Vendetta via the Forms. Therefore, after each Vendetta the Chamber of Justice would be tasked with sorting through claims of violations.

Your task is to create a work of fiction which details several of the alleged violations from the Rite of Supremacy. Detail the work of the Chamber (both publically and behind the scenes) to get to the truth of these difficult matters.

This competition will run for two weeks, with all submissions being due by Saturday, March 27. Submissions should be emailed to Justicar Kir Katarn.

    Details
-Updated: 2 pages minimum, TNR, 12pt, Single spaced
    -Awards - 2nd level Crescents

  5. Here's the scoop on the much-anticipated ACC Journeymen Ladder. The competition will be run from March 28 (a week Sunday) to April 25. The ladder will be single-elimination, so if you win your match you'll move on to the next round, but if you lose, you're out of the ladder. The final two matches will be for first place (for the winners of the semi-finals) and third place (for the losers of the semi-finals). Awards will be announced upon approval by the MAA.

Signups for the Journeymen Ladder will be open until Saturday, March 27 at 11:59 PM EST. To sign up, e-mail me with your name, rank and PIN. Since the competition is for Journeymen, if you want to participate you must hold the rank of Dark Jedi Knight or below at the time the competition starts. Participants are not required to qualify before signing up for the Ladder.

I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone can do!
