Until the Seneschal's Office has had a chance to look at the database, DO NOT make use of the DB website. You should stop all scripts from being run right now by hitting stop in your browser and navigate away from this site as soon as possible. You may direct questions to me at syn.kaek [at] gmail.com until Jac makes an announcement. Thank you

GM Darth Sarin Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/comments.asp?ID=R:11733

Ninjas conducted covert operations designed to disable and knock out the Dark Brotherhood Website. Fortunately, Jac Cotelin, his trusty buffalo, and a band of Pirates to include the recently returned Code Monkeys foiled their plans.

Welcome back, sweet sweet DB website. We have 99 problems, but a Mysql injector ain't one.

News

Website: Our website was attacked by a web crawling evil virus that infiltrated our database via the forms found on many of our pages. Jac was able to obtain a safe back up of our website and safe guard it with protections. Everything appears to be in good working order. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during the website outage. Please be sure to thank the SCL staff when you see them.

Arcona Consul: Open for Applications: The position of Arcona Consul will remain open for applications until 3 September. if you are interested in applying, please do so in the next few days.

The Great Jedi War: In the following days we will begin to release information and promotional material for the 9th Great Jedi War. Raken has been hard at work on the plot, back story, and storyline for what the next Vendetta will be. I liked the last GJW a lot, but I love this one. Watch out this week for the Teaser Trailer!

Uneasy Alliances: The CSP, CP, Arcona Feud has come to an end. Congratulations to CSP on another Feud win. The scoring of this competition was surprisingly close and all three Clans can be proud of their performance. In honor of the event, I will be awarding the first place Clan a special prize in the next couple of days. Results are still pending on the individual scoring leader, so stay tuned.

Character Sheets: That whole Ninja attack on our database has put the Character sheets a little further behind schedule. Jac and crew are currently working on a revamped timeline and we look to see something here pretty soon. If you have any questions about the new character sheets, email me and I might be willing to provide you with the xls showing all the force powers.

Awards

Congratulations: Awards: Tyren gets a SB! Jerse on a SC, Ronovi on a SC and AC, Kaz on an AC, Cypha on a DC, Vodo on a GC, Sith on an SC, Raiju on a GC, Hel-Pa on a GC, Balia on a DC, Taig on a DC, Chaos on a SC, and Cern on a DC.

Congratulations: Promotions: Laig, Zaxen and Davin on DJK!

Congratulations: Work: Jac and crew on the Website. Lucien on the Three Way. Muz on the continued Artowrk for the upcoming website stuff. Raken on the GJW. BF for his work on the ACC.

Raken Quote of the Week:

Raken: anymore, we don't even know what a man is...a real man is in the forest right now cutting down a tree...he's not at a club on his iphone with manicured facial hair and butterfly doors on a '92 celica gt

Real Life

Allies and Friends II: Today, the Emperor's Hammer ended its ban on dual membership between our club and theirs. In the past if you were an active member of the DB you could not be an active member of the EH. Today, in a long overdue decision, GA Ronin ended that ban.

I saw a few people discussing this topic and one of our members was concerned that if they joined the EH, they might receive some sort of hateful response from the DB. This is not the case. We have never had a dual membership ban between the EH and the DB and to be honest, many of our members remained DB members over the past several years. We have no policy against this sort of dual membership and even went out of our way to protect the individuals who wished to have fun in both clubs. I am happy to see that the EH made this decision today, because it is long overdue. Internet/Star Wars Organizations should never place club policies in between the friendships of members. I won't ever do that and I am happy to see the EH had decided to stop doing it as well.

So, EH members, come on over. Aabsdu has an apprentice robe with your name on it. :p

Final Thoughts

Real Life: I have some pretty damn good news. For those of you who don't know, my wife is pregnant again (my mid-tour leave was productive) and we just found out that she is having a boy. I am not going to lie, I am pretty freaking stoked.

In addition to the baby, their are rumors that I am going to be back in the US prior to the end of this year. At the moment, I am hoping this works out. I like being at home :p

DJM Sith Bloodfyre-Tarentae Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/comments.asp?ID=R:11730
The site went down and up. It's back, so yay, right? Sort of. Apparently, there have been some issues, and people have not been able to post in their battles, or make challenges. I'm not sure what's up, but I did pass on the emails I've received to Jac and given him the heads up on it. If and when he figures out what it is and gives me the 411 on it, I'll be sure to pass it on.

Taldryan completed their Swift Justice competition, and the Clans of Arcona, Plagueis and Scholae Palatinae completed their Three-Way Feud, as well. Good job all around. I hope it was fun for everyone (minus the site downtime for the Three-Way Feud).

Stuff slowed down dramatically for everything, the ACC included during the downtime. I'm sorry about that, but it happens. My suggestion to you for the future would be this: expect the unexpected. Sites go down, whether through scheduled maintenance or otherwise. The good coding people try to limit how much our site is down, and we appreciate them for that. But for the future, to prevent losses from happening (to info) like this again, try and save your fight/fight posts in a document on your own computer so you don't have to start from scratch.

With things being up and running again, we're going to be getting back on track to where we need to go. Changes are in the works for the ACC, and I'm going to make a quick rundown of a couple of things that will be affecting people the most.

1) Custom Weapons are being wiped clean. Yep, everything approved thus far is being unapproved and done away with, but not forever. In the past, Custom Races were almost freely allowed, and then smart people decided that, since there is such variety in Star Wars, there had to be good reason for new, Custom Races, and good reasons why we had not heard of them before. Stuff like that. This is basically what's going to happen with Custom Weapons. Look over what info is needed for Custom Races, and you'll have an idea of what will be required of you to send in for your weapons. I will also point out that, much like Custom Races, Custom Weapons will not be limited to specific people/one person, but will probably be added to the Weapons list as a whole.

2) The ACC Armory is being wiped clean. No more magic gauntlets, or "Champion's" weapons and stuff. The weapons list is even being redone, and what it will be is a representation of the ACC's own armory (i.e. the weapons you can check out/use while at the ACC facility that you don't own). It won't list everything. I can't imagine the DB is going to hunt down relic weapons "just cuz." We're going to offer to train people in weapons that art state of the art, and actually provide a benefit to our warriors. Why would we arm people with swords and train them to fight Jedi, when Jedi fight with lightsabers and blasters, and other state of the art stuff? There's more to it, but that's as basic as I can make it for now.

3) Clan Weapons. I liked the idea of Taldryan's Ateliuc Blade in the ACC Armory, and I figured, since the weapon is designed to really mesh with their Clan Powers and enhance that aspect, why wouldn't every Clan have something similar? So yeah, I want to see each Clan have a unique weapon that is held by one person at a time, the method of gaining it determined by the Clan, etc. So I'll see what I can do to work with the Clan Summits on possibly making a competition to create it and stuff. We'll see what they want to do.

4) I recently got a new computer. I can game again. I like a lot of what Dante has planned, and since he has been active in the ACC and really trying to work a bond between gaming and the ACC from his end, since I can game again now, I'd like to try and help out from the opposite end. How does this affect you? Who knows, but you may see me getting sniped by Kraval again once in a while, depending on whether he's gaming lazy still. That's right, I'm throwing down the gauntlet, punk.

It's ok. Kraval loves me.

Have a great weekend, ladies and gents.

Headmaster Report #14

This report was suppose to be released earlier, but the website attack pushed it back, as it did a lot of things. Anyways, it's just a short update really, so on with it. I saw Star Wars, being faithful, and... well... ugh. You'll love it if you are six years old, otherwise it was just average. The series is definitely geared towards younger generations, that's obvious, but there were cool moments, and it got better towards the end. I can't understand the animation style, but the soundtrack was awesome. Here are some of my favorite lines from the movies, that I can remember:

Pineapple Express: "What's down there? A rancor?"
Tropic Thunder: Tom Cruise's scene, too vulgar to type out
Star Wars: Ziro the Hutt, funniest part of the movie

News

--I'm sure I don't have to outline the recent attack of the DB website, that apparently occured through the Shadow Academy grading site. Anyways, on the SA side of things, the damage wasn't too bad. Thanks to our wonderful EPs and Dacien, we were able to catch the problem early, and cut off grading. As such, nothing was lost except seven exams, which have already been put back into the database. The EPs have started grading again, though they may have a little bit to catch up on.

--Oberst's summer edition of his in-depth writing course recently concluded with two graduates. Both Taigikori and Zandro both passed the course and earned Dark Sages of Writing, congrats guys!

--September 7th, at 4 PM London time, which is 11 AM EST, Kalak will be hosting a trial version of SA IRC Trivia in #shadowacademy. Legions of Scholars up for grabs, so if you're not busy come on by and try out your trivial skills. Depending on the crowd, we may continue this on a bi-weekly basis. This is basically a test run.

Projects

--Obviously, the website attack pushed the SA audit back, but we are working on uploading all the changes. Pretty much all of the audits have been submitted, so Dacien and I will get on those soon. This coming weekend is Labor Day weekend, so I'll catch up on a lot of things then.

--Again, we meant to release a new course this weekend, but then fiends decided to ruin our plans. As such, we will push the release of the new course back to early to mid-September, whenever a report falls. Other than that, most things are in the development stages. We're working on a few coding changes and additions to the SA site, but nothing that will debut immediately.

Featured Course of the Report

Due to all of the attack stuff and how busy I am reading through the clan feud run-ons, there is no featured course this report. Just go take one you haven't, they are all there for a reason.

Report time.

So yeah, unless you were on LOA for the last few weeks, you'll have seen that the DB got hit with an SQL injection attack. It took some time, but the Jac restored the site from a backup and him and the staff managed to seal off the vulnerabilities so that it can't happen again.

We're starting to work on the stuff for the next War. Last time, we didn't really have a whole lot of time to build up to things, and kinda dropkicked everything into place. It worked out pretty well. But this time is going to be far better, I think. Pay attention to the fictional updates that Raken is putting up. There's good plot stuff in there. And yes, there's some seriously face-melting stuff that we're going to be doing for this war that will trump what we have been doing in the past. And there's stuff that we'll be able to do this time that we wanted to last time but couldn't manage due to time and whatnot. We're sure that you'll like it.

Muz projects: still plodding along on the faces stuff. Arion is working on finagling the code for this monster. still grinding away on other stuff for more secret projects.

Shut up. It's a preliminary sketch.

Mejas Doto has stepped down as Consul of Arcona after a tenure of almost a year. In his absence, a vaccuum has formed in that clan. As a result, Sarin and I are asking for applications for the position of Consul. Requirements. Shoot your apps to Sarin, Raken and I.

So, SoulcaliberIV came out and had the secret apprentice in it. Quite a cool player character in that...but it did not prepare me for the total waste-s**t fest that is the Force Unleashed demo. Just whoa. If you have a PS3 or an xbox 360, go and download it asap. It's killer. Also, the graphic novel is pretty wicked, too.

The clone wars movie was good, but it was decidedly geared toward a kid audience. Hopefully this will mean that Lucas will make the live-action show he's working on more dark. He's already been quoted as saying that the live-action franchise will be more like BSG and firefly. That just makes me more anxious to see what they have in store.

Congrats and thanks go to: Jac, Orv, Sil, and all the other people who've helped to bail the site out of trouble.
Kaek and sklib for reloading and manually processing all the missing data needed.
Mejas for his work as consul. Well done, all around.

And that's all for this time. If you guys have any questions, or need any help, shoot me an email, or PM me on IRC. Have fun!

Family and Clan Name Census 08
Posted by: DA Syn Kaek (Sith) - 8/11/2008 6:58:34 PM

Here it is: the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The infamous Family and Clan Name Census of 2008!

Before I begin with instructions on how to report to me, let me first take this opportunity to clarify some of the policies that have been in effect and make a few changes. Firstly, a significant change to #3 of the family policies: families are defined as a group of 3 or more individuals who share the same last name. Groups of two are not defined as a family though they are still required to report to the Master At Arms. There are no restrictions on two members with the same last name. Additionally, the required family history/information must be at least 10 pages long. We found that the 4-5 page requirement is not conducive to producing a thorough well-developed fictional background for families and therefore, we decided to up the requirement.

Secondly, a clarification on clan names: if you have a clan title and go rogue, you retain that name unless your clan specifies otherwise or you go to a different clan when you return from rogue.

I hope those are clear. Now, here is what I require of all families and Consuls. First, the easy part: Consuls, if you would be so good as to send me an updated list of all the current clan title holders. All I need a list of who has the name. That’s it. Thanks.

For families, I need your family leader or your family representative to contact me within 2 weeks with an updated roster of members and whatever fictional history you currently have. If you’re in a family and you’re unsure whether or not your leader/representative is going to do this, check with them. If you get no response, feel free to contact me. All I need is at least one member of the family (preferably the leader or representative) to contact me with an updated roster and history within 2 weeks.

Families that do not respond within 2 weeks will be put on probation (no new members will be allowed) until they do respond. If there is no response after a significant time from any family members, the family will be officially dissolved.

If you share a last name with two other individuals, please be sure to register even if you do not meet the requirements to form an official family. I still classify you as ‘attempting’ to make a family and you are therefore still subject to the regulations.

There will be no ‘grandfathering’ this time around. The goal is to bring all families into compliance with the regulations. If a family lacks a DA+ member, they will not be allowed to have new members until they do. If a family lacks a 10 page history, they will not be allowed to have new members until they do. With regard to the history, there will be at least a one month grace-period for families to put together something to submit to myself and the Herald before they are unable to recruit.

Lastly, if you share a last name with only one other member, please report to me as well. You’ve done nothing wrong and you’re not in violation of any rules but I want to keep a record of who you are so that I don’t have people complaining to me about you trying to form families.

If you have any questions, just let me know. Complaints should NOT be placed in the comments but should instead be emailed to me. Thanks

Family Reminder and Clarification
Posted by: DA Syn Kaek (Sith) - 8/14/2008 7:05:39 PM

Just a reminder to all families to register with me for the census. This includes any group of 3 or more people who all share the same last name. I don’t care if you currently do not meet the requirements to form a family - you still need to register with me.

Also, if you share your last name with only one other person, you also need to register with me.

Thanks!

DA Syn Kaek
Master At Arms

Consuls and other members of the Dark Summit,

Though I planned to mention this in my next report, I wanted to go ahead and pass this on to you and your Clans before A.) I forget, and B.) People ask me about it again. Please forward this to your Clan mailing list.

I want to clarify the current policy on dossier removals and deactivation. Currently, most members are not aware of the options available to them in terms of how their dossiers will be handled in the event that they wish to leave the Brotherhood. In order to minimize my workload and to help members make more responsible choices, I present to you the options that are available.

Transfer to the Rogues: In the event that a member doesn't have time for the Brotherhood or wants to take a break, they can request a transfer to the rogues. Rogue transfers for real life purposes are almost always approved rather quickly and this is the ideal way for a member to proceed in those instances. Even if a member is no longer interested in the Brotherhood at all, I would suggest only a transfer to the rogues and nothing more. In the event that a member realizes they want to come back, it's a simple matter of transferring back to their previous Clan quickly. Members who have been gone for a substantial amount of time are, of course, welcome to transfer to any Clan they like when they return but the practice of Clan hopping (going rogue and then transferring from rogue to another Clan in order to avoid the hassles of an inter-Clan transfer) is not allowed. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE: always consider going rogue before any other option.

Inactive Dossier: If a member wants a little bit more finality to the termination of their Brotherhood career or wants to make it very clear to people recruiting from the rogues that they are not interested in being an active member of the Brotherhood, they can request to have their dossier marked as inactive. In that event, I will move the member to the rogues and then mark the dossier as inactive. Information on the dossier will not show up (it will display as "This dossier is inactive") though the dossier itself will still show up in searches.

Invisible Dossier: If a member wants their dossier not to appear at all in the database but still wants to keep it there in case they decide to return, I can make their dossier completely invisible except to a few of us with high enough database access. If a member makes this request, I will move them to the rogues, set their dossier to inactive and make it invisible. In cases where someone wants to be 'deleted,' I would recommend you consider making your dossier invisible first.

Permanent Deletion: If you absolutely are 100% sure that you do not want to be in the Brotherhood and you do not want to ever return, you have the option of requesting permanent deletion. In this instance, I will erase your name, email address, rank, medals, personal data, history, etc. Your dossier will be moved to the rogues, marked inactive and invisible and then marked as deleted. Once your dossier is deleted, it is gone. I will NOT restore it. It cannot be recovered. It is unequivocally destroyed. I will not negotiate with you. I will not oblige you. I will not help you. If you make the choice to have your dossier deleted, it's gone and it's not coming back. If you change your mind and want to return, you'll have to start from scratch. Needless to say, this is not an option that should be considered lightly.

I'm drawing the line here on permanent deletion because it costs us (read, Jac) money to have to pull up database backups from the host so we can restore your dossier. I don't think it's fair that we should make someone who has selflessly dedicated so much time to the Brotherhood pay for people being indecisive/childish/irresponsible/insert-derisive-Kaek-adjective-here. Also, manually restoring dossiers is a huge pain in the ass. So seriously...if you want to be deleted, make sure you really want it. Because I'm not going to restore your dossier. Consider one of the lesser options first as those are easy for me to implement and easy for me to restore: I have absolutely no problem making someone invisible and then making them visible again if they change their mind.

Pursuant to the new implementation of these policies, I will be recording the name and PIN of everyone who requests to be made inactive/invisible or have their dossier deleted for reference purposes. No other information will be kept.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email. Obviously, I can't implement any changes to dossier status until after the database is restored so if you want to take any of these actions, please be patient. I'll be re-posting this in my next report once the database is back up. Thank you again

Sklib and I busted through all the records today as quickly as possible and were able to restore them all in time. Special thanks to Sklib for his efficient assistance. All appointments, medals, promotions, name changes, email changes, competitions, transfers, leave changes, etc. (MAA stuff) should be completely up to date. If you find that something is missing or something is incorrect, email me and let me know (with a copy of the relevant emails) so I can correct anything that we may have missed.

IMPORTANT

I did NOT restore new members dossiers at all because that would've taken me forever. If you joined on the 7th or after up until the database crashed and your dossier is missing, please email me and let me know: I have the records but I only want to take the time to restore people who are not AWOL. Thanks in advance

A few additional notes:

1.) If you made any changes to your battleteams in the intervening time period (QUA/CONs), you're going to need to go ahead and go change them again yourselves. I don't have records of these changes.

2.) Please note that anything I remanded to you may still be in the queue. Be sure to clear out any old requests that aren't relevant anymore.

3.) If you were on LoA and are back, check to make sure that the LoA status is off of your dossier. I did not remove LoA status from anyone's dossier: I only made sure it existed for those that had gone on an LoA. You should be able to easily remove an LoA if you need to.

4.) If I approved any competitions for you in the interim downtime, please go ahead and submit them now.

Again, if you find any mistake or anything missing, please please please email me with the information and relevant documentation so I can correct it. Thanks again

And now, you may go ahead and submit all your MAA requests as normal.

ACC Stuff **UPDATED WITH JACNESS** http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/comments.asp?ID=N:5322
So yeah, everybody lost some stuff, including some posts in their ACC fights, as well as any Character Sheet updates that were made since August 7th. What does this mean for you?

For your character sheets, you're going to have to resubmit them. If you had a promotion since the 7th that Kaek and Company are still working on reestablishing and such, I'd encourage you to wait until that's all taken care of, and then just go through and redo your sheet. That's the easiest way to get it done.

**JAC SAYS: Yes, Character Sheet changes are gone completely. bummer.**

As far as your battles, that's going to be about the same thing, in all honesty. If you posted in a battle since the 7th, you're going to need to repost. If you didn't save the posts, I'd encourage you to make that a habit. Save your fights into a Word document or something so that, in case anything like this does happen in the future, you won't have to go through and rewrite it all from scratch.

**JAC SAYS: I just sent BF a copy of all of the posts that were in the database after August 7. There may be a few missing, but he is going to find a good way to distribute what we have. Yayness!**

As far as the Three-Way Feud between Arcona, Plagueis and Scholae Palatinae, same thing. Any of your battles that were judged since the 7th, you need to forward your decision emails to Lucien so he can get the judgment reentered. For sake of ease, only the Winner of the match needs to forward the decision to Lucien. If you don't have those emails? Again, I'd encourage you to keep them, even in an archived folder or something. If you're worried about email space, have someone set you up with a Gmail account, and you'll never have to worry about that (they have tons of space).

If your battle was ongoing, you need to rebuild it. I have mentioned this already to the Clan Summits of those three Clans. They are in the process of deciding the end date, whether there will be an extension, etc. That facet of the Feud is not up to me. If you want to express your thoughts on it, let your Clan Summits know. I'm not the one granting extensions on any of those battles.

For Training/Qualification battles, consider the 14 day time limits starting from today, but I would encourage you to get those posts done sooner. Everyone is going to be playing catch up, so help out your Trainers and opponents and work to get the posts rebuilt as much as possible.

The stuff being lost is a bummer, but unfortunately, these things can happen. If nothing else, it teaches us all a valuable lesson, and reminds us all to have our own backup copies of stuff like medals, ID lines, and even ACC battles.
Manual Restoration http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/comments.asp?ID=N:5321
Just a note again on the restoration of the missing data. Jac's backup was dated from the 7th of August so any of the member data changed after that time is not recorded in the database. I have complete records of everything that was done, however, and will be restoring it to the database manually as quickly as I can. But I must ask you to be patient as there is quite a bit of it to go through and put back in. I anticipate that I will be finished within a few days. In the meantime, I must ask you not to submit any new MAA-type requests until the process is complete. I want to keep everything in order.

As to SA records, ACC records and HRLD records, the individual Dark Councilors will, I'm sure, make their own decisions on how they want to go about restoring those missing records.

Thank you again for your patience

Thank you for your patience over the last two weeks. It took a lot of effort, but the site is now back up and running. Evidentially, restoring a database is a much harder task than I thought it was (or should be).

There may still be some lingering issues on the site. I've also added a few security "checkpoints" to ensure that we don't get in a bad state again (cross your fingers). If you get an error message, mail me immediately.

I'm going to be on the down low for a couple of days. I'm a little fried out from toiling with SQL Server. If something is urgent, say so in the subject line of an email -- otherwise I'll get to it soon.

Jac

Also, seeing as how the backup was from about a week before the site got attacked, there's about a week's worth of data to be reloaded. Kaek and his staff are on it, but they request that everyone refrains from submitting requests until they get everyone caught up.

I have successfully finished moving to Indiana and getting myself settled into law school. There should be no significant delays in getting any of your requests processed because of my personal situation with the sole exception of next week: because I have an exam. Sklib is around, however, so hopefully not. Yay.

Policy Updates and Clarifications

Concerning Competitions: Just a very important reminder – please do not forget to indicate that you have approval from the relevant leaders of whatever particular unit you plan to run a competition for in submission form. The only time when you don’t have to do this is when you actually are the leader in question. See Sklib’s little section for more.

Concerning Transfers and Recruitment: Last month we had a veritable emoplosion of ragequit transfers. Seriously…in an unofficial capacity…lame. Way lame. But it’s perfectly within the rights of a DB member to be lame. Anyhow, I clarified the policies on inter-Clan transfers in my last report (and it’s still there for you to read if you missed it) but there are a few additional comments I need to make on transfers and recruitment.

Firstly, some people have complained about the 10-word requirement in transfers. I realize that if you’re transferring to or from the rogues for RL reasons, you may not have 10 words. That’s fine. You can just type a little chat convo to me or something. But if you’re going from Clan to Clan, you need to follow the policy set in my last report.

Secondly, there have been a lot of questions raised about ‘illegal’ recruiting. Allow me to settle this definitively for all of you. As far as I am aware, it is not and has never been ‘illegal’ to actively try to recruit people into other Clans (with certain exceptions: see below). However, it has always been frowned upon. A Consul that engages or allows his members to engage in this sort of recruitment is not going to be subject to CoJ charges: rather his or her punishment is that some people will hold a lower opinion of him. Having a bad reputation is a big deal in the Brotherhood, believe it or not. It becomes harder to work with your fellow leaders; people stop trusting you; your members are potentially less loyal and can be poached off in the same way that you poached them off. You engage in recruitment at your own risk. Personally, I’d prefer to see the continued unwritten rule of not recruiting: it’s better for the Brotherhood in the long run. This explanation does not apply to open applications for leadership positions.

The only form of recruiting that is illegal and has always been illegal is quid pro quo recruiting. This is when a member is invited to join a Clan in exchange for a promotion or a medal. If I find evidence of this…there will be trouble.

Anyways, I hope the transfer situation is suitably clarified. Please note that I have consulted with Sarin before posting this and we are in complete agreement.

Projects

Super AWOL Check: Still on hold until the new CSes are complete.

Updated Family Census: This will begin tomorrow or the day after. All family leaders (and wannabe family leaders) should have their personal rosters ready and their family histories ready to submit to me. I will detail specific instructions in a separate post.

Das Uber Policy Revisions: Stay tuned – discussions on the first stage of these are underway.

Competitions

No competitions for now but if anyone would like to make me little graphical banners for future reports, feel free to do so. If I like them, you’ll be rewarded.

Staff

Staff is good. Tarax is still on leave for another couple weeks and Sklib is back in action. For the record, please do not ask me if I need staff. Allow me to be Kaekey in my explanation of why: first of all, I don’t need anybody else. Secondly, even if I did, if you’re asking me you’re not the kind of person who I’m going to hire. Thirdly, MOVES4POWER will not be tolerated. kthx.

Other Stuff?

Congratulations to Raken on his promotion. And of course, Chaos fails.

Sklib Says
A new look into the mind of my n00bish Praetor

For my first “Sklib Says,” there's a few things I think we need to make clear. First, make sure you have your superior's approval for the competition if you're not a Summit member. At least twice a week Kaek and I have to deny a perfectly acceptable competition because there's no indication if it was approved by the House, Clan, or Battleteam Leaders. Secondly, if there were less than three people in a competition... you have to downgrade the medals. For example, if it's a 5th level competition with only two submitters, you don't give out an Emerald and Topaz, you change that to a Topaz and Quartz. That's it for Sklib says this time around, good hunting everyone.

Closing Remarks

DJM Kir Katarn Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/comments.asp?ID=R:11693

Typically I save my reports for very important news or the results of cases, but since a few months have gone by since my last report, I've decided it's time to grace the DB with another.

Wiki Featured Article!
The Chamber of Justice wiki page is the featured article for the month of August - if you haven't checked it out yet, you should. This should wet your appetite for the rest of the info found in the CoJ Category of the wiki. Go nuts, read it all!

SA Featured Course!
Continuing the CoJ's domination of the DB...the Headmaster has made the CoJ course the current featured Shadow Academy course! This means you should go take it right now if you haven't already. Also...

CoJ SA Course Competition!
The Chamber of Justice course in the Shadow Academy is nearing the fifty graduate mark, and so I'm going to award those members who help reach it.

First place will go to the member who is graduate #50, with second and third place going to graduates #49 and #51. The course can be found here, crescents will be awarded to the winners! Go take it now! And once you're done, you might be interested in...

Advanced CoJ SA Course Coming Soon!
I have written an advanced Chamber of Justice course for the Shadow Academy and submitted it to Aabs to be posted. I know he has a lot of courses in development right now so I'm not sure when exactly it will be available, but it shouldn't be too long - I'll notify everyone when it is available.

The new course covers some of the more difficult concepts from the "intro" course, and also introduces some new concepts including types of law and Brotherhood precedents. It will be a good challenge and I'll encourage all of you to take it when it's released.

Also I'm working with the Headmaster to possibly develop a new SA "Law" degree, and knowing how I like this, I promise it will be a challenge for all of you :)

Cloning Reminder
Just a couple quick reminders about cloning and multiple accounts/shared IPs - since I spend a lot of my time lately dealing with these issues.

1) If you share a computer or house with another member of the DB, you *must* inform me of this so I can add you to the list of members with shared IP addresses. This will prevent me from sending you a questioning email concerning a potential cloning violation!

2) If you have run out of time for the DB, or just want a break, you should request a transfer to the Rogues (Admin, Member Center). When you decide to return **do not** create a new character, just log back in as your old character and request a transfer back into a clan. If you create a new character the database will tell me, I'll email you, and I'll end up deleting one of the dossiers...so don't do that!

That's all for this report, as always if you have any questions/comments/anything you want me to know about, just email me or catch me on IRC.

KE Shikyo Sasuke Keibatsu Report http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/comments.asp?ID=R:11684

It’s been a long time since my last report and in that time, we’ve had a bit of a burst of requests. On top of this, I’ve been given some projects to work on from the Iron Throne. -Examples of your work

So, I recently rejoined the ACC Staff again and I gotta admit… I’m bored! I have two challenges, one of which I’ll have to deny for the time being, the second I’ll have to wait until they have their computer in working order. As a Trainer, I help people get ready for the ACC and see if they are ready to take on the rest of the DB. So… ACC Initiates… BRING IT!

I recently paid off my bill for Fall Semester, so I’ll be taking classes this fall until Dec. 16th, if I’m correct. I’m excited about the classes and am glad that I’m finally able to go to college. In other news, I watched Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and I laughed my ass off. I definitely recommend it for people who either A.) like the movies, B.) enjoy slapstick comedy, C.) I don’t have an Option C. Either way, watch it.

If anyone needs me, please feel free to email me or find me on IRC at #HRLD_office. Stats will be at the end of this paragraph. Peace out my homies!

http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/acc/hall.asp?id=14

Those two links are to the Proving Grounds and Training Halls in the ACC. As you will see, some of the Trainers have several fights, both in Qualifying Battles, and in Training Battles. Some of the Trainers have few. Very few. When you are challenging a Trainer either for a Training Fight, or for your Qualification Battle, maybe look through those two Halls to see who is less-busy, and who will have the most time to help you work on your battle.

Also, consider that they may be involved in battles for competitions, Clan Feuds, or their own battles for entertainment purposes. We have increased the number of Trainers to help reduce the load and time between posts for these kinds of battles. We have done this for your benefit. Please help us in this matter by being considerate of who is busy, and maybe taking the time to challenge someone else for your benefit.

Thank you kindly. Sorry about bumping down Aabs' amazingly dull report. :P
