First thing's first.

If you didn't see it, Marka Ragnos has a new member. Jenazar Tahjen-kaar is our newest Sith, and they have been absolutely wrecking face, getting promoted three times in two days, ranking up in the Shadow Academy and generally making our email accounts sing happy songs all day long. I am proud and happy about this, and hopefully we will see them on telegram or in our runons soon.

Also, big congratulations go to our Quaestor, Koji for his recent addition to his medal case, a shiny Steel Cross. Well done!

In this edition of the Marka Ragnos Aedile report, I am going to talk a bit more about the old legends surrounding our namesakes and how they relate to each other. The history of where we came from is important, especially as we drive forward.

While we are Clan Naga Sadow, there are some who believe, (and in my opinion, rightfully so) that Marka Ragnos far surpassed his apprentice in power. In the Golden age of the Sith (The legends place this at about 5000 years before the battle of Yavin), Marka Ragnos ruled 'with an iron fist', and was called 'the most powerful of the most powerful', which would have included his apprentice, the Naga Sadow that our clan is named for and his rival Ludo Kressh as well as other Lords he had supplanted before his hundred year reign of the Sith Empire.

Marka Ragnos' power was such that as Naga Sadow and Ludo Kressh dueled over the fate of his empire, even dead, both Lords bowed down, fully aware that the mere ghost of the Sith Lord could kill them both. In fact, his appearance as a Force Ghost sent such shockwaves through the Force that Odan-Urr (yes, the Jedi for whom the Lightside clan is named) felt the disturbance on the other side of the galaxy, sending nightmarish visions into the Jedi Master.

That is some serious power.

Even Vitiate (the black-eyed nobody from a backwater planet that turned out to be so powerful that he could eat planets...sounds familiar?), later known as the Sith Emperor, and primary antagonist in The Old Republic MMO, considered the ghost of Marka Ragnos as powerful enough to pose a threat to him when he consolidated power a hundred years later.

In one of the old mainstay games of the Dark Brotherhood, Jedi Outcast, the Ghost of Marka Ragnos was powerful enough to possess a dark side acolyte, granting her immense power in a bid to resurrect himself, something that Luke Skywalker fears intensely in the game (this was pre-disney, when there was a New Jedi Order, as opposed to the current canon, where none of that happened).

So, why do we have the Clan Naga Sadow, as opposed to Marka Ragnos? There is a good reason for that, above and beyond Astronicus liking the last name of Sadow more than Ragnos. You see, the Sith Empire under Ragnos had been stable, solidifying control over their worlds, strengthening and coordinating efforts effectively. Yet Ragnos, for all of his power, was perfectly content to let the Empire they had flourish. Naga Sadow had a different philosophy, seeking to expand the empire and take more worlds under their control, challenging the Republic for dominance in the galaxy.

And he would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those dang Daragon kids... But that's a story for next time.

Dark Flame, an event organized by Night Hawks BTL Locke ends in a few short days, which means there are a lot of credits up or grabs, as well as medals, promotion opportunities, bragging rights and credits. Oh, and credits, too.

There's four comps, graphics, fiction, gaming and trivia, so there is literally something for everyone.

Bentre asks: "How would you suggest newer members kick into ROs and other cooperative fiction more easily?"

Honestly, I would suggest that they just jump in. Write up an intro post, who you are, what you are doing, and send it to another clanmate or two for proofing and making sure it isn't doing something off the wall. Runons can get tricky, so I guess a more important bit of advise is to be a bit more flexible with your expectations on what you want to have happen in a runon. They often react unpredictably, and rarely go completely to plan...which can be really fun, so long as you don't have rigid expectations. Also, don't be afraid to suck. We all did, once upon a time, and it is by doing that we all learn to get better.

DarkHawk asks: "How important is Alchemy skill in an assassins skill set"

Alchemy can be mighy useful, especially in a stealth-kill sort of build. Poisons are obvious winners for assassins, and alchemy can help take that skill up another level (and has the benefit of all that cool darkity dark side mwa-hahahaha-ness, as a bonus). That said, I don't think it is absolutely critical to general assassin builds, if you don't want to go down the poison-y route. But that is up to your own personal preferences.

Calenhad asks: "What are your thoughts on CNS moving forward as a golden age Sith Empire?"

Obviously, if you have been reading my reports, you'll know that I am a big fan of the old and ancient sith empires and lore. So naturally, I am a big fan of this new direction for the clan. Not only is it something that isn't used in the rest of the club, but it is something that I know we can do better than anything else based on myriad reasons, from the namesakes of our clan and houses, our historic roles in the Brotherhood as stewards of ancient lore, and in general being wicked awesome space wizards. So, I am rather excited, both personally and for the clan.

Marick Tyris (VOICE!) asks: "do I get a DC for this?"

I am pretty sure howie would choke that request out with ALL THE STAMPS. (Wally here is joking about how when i was GM I would give out Dark Crosses to particularly good questions that I could answer in my GM reports. It was phased out as I retired, as it was entirely too generous.)

TL;DR?

• Dark Flame runs until the 21st
• Congrats to new member Jenazar • Congrats to Koji for his SC
• Get involved! Email me!

Otherwise, keep having fun out there, and let me know if I can help with anything.
