Be it during a fight or life in general, moral compass means little to Essau Karnaal. If you don’t want a person harmed, you had better specify. General terms mean nothing to him as Essau Karnaal only deals in specifics. If the rules of a duel say you can’t shoot before the count of three? A grenade over the shoulder is fair game, then. Tell Essau Karnaal to stop someone at all costs, well, you better not be concerned if they’re brought back dead or alive.

Losing his daughter at the hand of Iron Throne loyalists may have been the catalyst behind the development of his deeply rooted desire to combat and renounce the darkness of the Brotherhood. But witnessing countless atrocities orchestrated by the enemies of Odan-Urr has created purpose as he wishes to cripple the tyrannical engine driving the other Clans, despite being groomed in an earlier life by the Inquisitors. While this can cloud his judgment and lead to reckless decision making, it also makes peace a foreign concept to him in that he would rather die standing than live on his knees.

Essau Karnaal doesn't like to work in groups or teams and feels most comfortable on his own. Essau Karnaal sticks to himself, sets his own pace, and doesn't share feelings or emotions with others. While the Lone Wolf can get things done quietly and efficiently, he tends to be emotionally cut off and has problems relating to his comrades.

Despite serving the Jedi, Essau walks a fine line between light and dark and will do whatever it takes to defend his Clan. On the surface he may seem decisive but on the inside he struggles with moral dilemmas. Judge, Jury, and Executioner, Essau will often make decisions centered around the greater good, even if the path chosen fails to mesh with the tenets of his Order. Often at odds with other members of his Clan he is known as a wild-card and cannot be reigned in or controlled by his brethren.

Through a mixture of cocksure courage and arrogant swagger, Essau Karnaal will not back down from a challenge when called out, even if the wiser path is to walk away or let it go. Essau Karnaal's personality does tend to rub a lot of people the wrong way, which generally puts him into situations that escalate quickly to violence. While he may not be the one to always start a fight, he will always see it through to it’s conclusion. Some have tried to play a challenge off as idle banter, but when Essau Karnaal initiates or accepts a challenge, he does not hold back.

Essau Karnaal is utterly devoted to success in combat, no matter the mission, no matter the cost. He has spent his life building himself in the image of war, utilizing a dogmatic regimen that has lead him to a single-minded obsession with military success and requires intense physical and mental training. This training, however, has come at the cost of anything resembling empathy or concern for others - even his superiors and subordinates.
