After his family collapsed, Adem was likely doomed to a nasty, brutish and short life of toil in the Umbaran doonium mines, but a chance encounter with a Bothan Jedi historian as a teenager changed his destiny. His latent strength in the Force was cultivated by his mentor, and surreptitiously employed in a traveling theatre group. Here, Adem developed many of his skills and abilities, until an accident exposed him as a Jedi to their audience at large. For fear of endangering his compatriots, Adem struck out on his own, following a trail that lead him to his new place in Clan Arcona. Despite what he may say, Adem is particularly sentimental about the past, and is in the habit of collecting mementos of his experiences to recall using his talent for Psychometry.

Adem's Jedi education was as classical as one could be in a world decades removed from the Purge, and he strives to live up to the mosaic myth of heroism they left behind. He is particularly dedicated to the study of lightsabers and lightsaber combat, and while he subscribes to the more liberal perspectives on the Force held by many Arconans, he practices a brand of mindfulness shaped by his education and his time spent with the Arconae. Compelled by the Living Force, he is sensitive to how it connects the ecologies of the galaxy, and will act to correct balance accordingly, sometimes putting him at odds with more realistic perspectives.

Adem has forged an inseparable bond with his explorer droid companion, BD-99, and one is virtually never seen without the other. He frequently introduces himself and the droid together, and will translate to those who don't know Binary to make sure BD's opinion is heard and respected. He reacts strongly and much more impulsively than usual if the droid is threatened. By corollary of this deep friendship, Adem is also interested in and very compassionate towards droids of most types, using his mechanical skills to assist the robotic denizens of the galaxy, should they need it.

Adem plays off his aptitude for Deception and his strong Resolve, remaining flexible and composed in social settings. When he seeks to blend in, he speaks unassumingly and does little to draw attention to himself. When the time comes to leverage his skills and Jedi power, he does so with assured and confident flair. Emotionally perceptive people may notice he is rather isolated in truth, and hence is quick to trust with his emotions. He prizes loyalty and mutual trust, and his closest relationships tend to be defined by these traits.

A Niman combat specialist, Adem prizes versatility in battle, and supplements his rare dedication to the finer points of the Moderation Form with other styles of combat. He integrates acrobatic Ataru techniques into his fighting style for a dazzling offense, fueled by the Force. Unarmed fighting techniques from Corellian Kickboxing and Whiptree are also expressed in his swordplay, especially when he lacks the space for more dramatic techniques. He has modified his lightsabers to join together and split apart, leveraging both saberstaff and Jar'Kai dual wielding techniques, respectively. Finally, he carries auxiliary weapons such as a blaster, though his aim is unreliable at best. Niman's versatility is its strength and weakness; practitioners of more specialized fighting styles will likely best Adem in conditions favorable to them, and his reliance on the Force is easily turned against him.

Adem fights like a technician, combining the patient tactical mindset of various lightsaber styles with his intuition for machines, "assembling" his opponent's combat style and temperament. He obfuscates his capabilities using Deception and indistinct Niman swordplay, tempting the enemy to overextend themselves. When Adem seizes the opportunity to "dismantle" his target, he Amplifies his movements and attacks, uses Telekinesis to weaponize his environment, or Slows his enemy, leveraging a variety of tactics to claim the advantage . If necessary, he harnesses Rage to transcend his limits and become a conduit of the Force, though the significant physical aftermath of doing so leaves him at a serious disadvantage. Adem's tactical thinking is very deliberately paced, and he may struggle to capitalize on his observations without time and focus. Perceptive experts may also notice when he is trying to deceive them.
