Ryuu has pale white skin, reminiscent of winter snow, lending him an ethereal appearance that seems untouched by time. His eyes are a deep, blood red– unblinking, intense, seemingly iridescent, and haunted by the weight of battles fought long ago, his constantly furrowed brows heavy with the weight of a lifetime of war and the guilt of survival. Pulled tightly into a traditional topknot, his lengthy black hair accentuates and defines his facial features, his nose, narrow and sharp, is framed between his high cheekbones, and his jawline, strong and often unmoving, it presents similar sharp lines as the rest of his face. These lines of are only softened by the air of stillness he carries, like a blade sheathed in silk. Ryuu's knife-sharp features are matched by a lean build worthy of any duelist. With a broad set of shoulder and back built from a lifespan of wielding weaponry, a narrow waistline and flat chest leaves little fat to his frame. With a solid build which is less bulk than well toned, his muscles are akin to tightly wound coils of rope
Despite whatever all his other characteristics may convey, Ryuu Suoh retains the air of a person that is confident, if not arrogant. Minor (and often, major) things in his body language - his walk, his stance, his expressions - reveal these feelings. At times, it seems he borders upon narcissism, especially judging from how much he enjoys his own company.
Ryuu Suoh somehow always finds himself in tricky situations that put him in over his head. As such, Ryuu Suoh always seems to be digging himself out of some kind of dilemma. While this speaks to Ryuu Suoh’s ability to think outside the box to find solutions, his moral code often gets in the way of taking the easy way out.
Ryuu Suoh has a strong sense of honor and goes out of his way to act in a way that, to him, would maintain that honor. He has a moral code--keeping to his word, never surrendering willfully in combat, not harming those he deems “innocent” and respecting his family--and uses that to guide his actions, choosing to stick to his beliefs even at the detriment of himself. If he were to ever break the code, and thus lose his honor, he would go to any means to atone for it, even if that meant he had to die. Ryuu Suoh actively looks down upon people who he considers to be honorless, thinking them to be lesser. This outlook has caused him no small means of strife throughout his life.
Ryuu Suoh has a military background, and draws upon his experience to tackle the obstacles in his life. This makes him decisive, efficient, and fearless; provides him with a strong sense of duty and strength; which tends to influence his ability to fight and lead. However, a rigid mind is less compassionate towards individuals and less imaginative, and Ryuu Suoh sometimes risks appearing callous, relatable, or incapable of compromising.
Ryuu Suoh has spent the greater part of his life honing his body to be a weapon, forsaking the convenience of blasters and slugthrowers. They try to engage in CQC/melee combat as much as possible, leveraging their honed body and resolve to great effectiveness. The downside of this mindset leaves them with limited options in ranged combat, mainly whatever throwing weapons they can carry.
When Ryuu Suoh enters combat he silences his thoughts and just focuses on the fight, letting the instincts honed from years of training and actual combat take over. In this state he accepts that at some point during the fight he can either get injured, or just die. The downside to this however, is that once achieved it's hard for him to leave this state until his body is physically exhausted or his opponent is dead, mercy is not an option.
