While Dolot Varis will see a job through to its conclusion and put forward his best effort, it’s still just a job. Dolot Varis's true loyalties lie to his friends, and through thick and thin,he will stand by them and die for them if needed. This loyalty is reserved for those who have earned Dolot Varis's trust, putting him at odds with other Mercenaries that are only doing a job for the money. This also makes it harder for employers to trust his motives, often times creating extra competition and difficulty finding work. None of it matters to Dolot Varis, though, because loyalty to his friends is not something credits can buy.
Be it during a fight or life in general, moral compass means little to Dolot Varis. If you don’t want a person harmed, you had better specify. General terms mean nothing to him as Dolot Varis only deals in specifics. If the rules of a duel say you can’t shoot before the count of three? A grenade over the shoulder is fair game, then. Tell Dolot Varis to stop someone at all costs, well, you better not be concerned if they’re brought back dead or alive.
While generally laid back and more than happy to offer a quip of sarcasm, Dolot Varis's entire demeanor changes once combat begins. He becomes focused and quiet, with his smile replaced with a look of grim determination.
Dolot Varis doesn't do anything without first having a plan, and is constantly overheard advising others to always “think through their exits”. Every movement he makes—be it combative, manipulative or otherwise—is premeditated and thought out ahead of time. This foresight often places Dolot Varis two steps ahead of his peers. However, when plans go awry, Dolot Varis often has to first backtrack those same two steps to address the present, and that hesitation can often be the line between success and failure in the heat of a situation.
Fond of staying alive and prepared, Dolot Varis keeps several bladed weapons hidden on his person at all times and in all different locations. Dolot Varis switches these locations periodically in order to maintain an element of surprise even among his allies who know him. Unfortunately, this sometimes means that he is slower to draw one of these weapons if he forgets where he stashed them.
Even the most gifted of weapon masters understands the importance of physical fitness and disciplining the body with thorough martial arts training. Dolot Varis has trained vigorously in unarmed combat by fusing Teräs Käsi and Echani with other unconventional forms. While this martial focus helps bolster his prowess in close-quarters combat, Dolot Varis is still limited in scope when facing down a less direct or ranged threat.
