Jarek Venn has blue skin and gold eyes, as is common among Pantorans. His black hair is kept short in a utilitarian cut, and his face looks weary for his age. His faint frown lines make him look dour even when he's not trying. He does not have his family markings on his face; instead, he wears them on the inside of his left arm. A faded dark tattoo for an Ord Mantell swoop gang is on the inside of his right arm. He has a faint scar running along his cheekbone under his right eye, a souvenir from a knife fight in his youth. His body is lean but strong, giving the impression of someone who relies on being quick on his feet more than brute strength.
Jarek Venn is no greenhorn when it comes to dealing with those who wish him ill. At some point, he managed to cross the wrong people, and now they've got a mark on his hide for it. While such experiences have hardened him for adrenaline-filled moments of evading those who seek to make him their quarry, he can never be quite sure if he is truly safe, for promises of wealth or power can turn even the most seemingly stalwart of allies to enemies with knives poised at his back.
While Jarek Venn isn't rude or cold to others, but... other than the job, there's not much to him. He rarely lets other people in, and as such will have problems working in a team environment, and will be conspicuously withdrawn in a social setting.
In Jarek Venn's experience, people always lie, but computers and locks don't. They're straightforward about how to open them, and it's simply a matter of skill. As such, Jarek Venn has difficulty trusting anyone until and unless they prove themselves to him.
By preference, Jarek Venn prefers to keep most of his relationships professional and fiduciary. While he does have some moral standards - he won't involve himself with drugs or slavery, for example - he keeps himself distant from others, burying his empathy and emotions deep. His primary motivation for what he does is money, but deep down, he might not be quite as mercenary as he would like to be...
While Jarek Venn avoids combat whenever possible, he has no qualms working with technology under the stress and pressure of combat. Jarek Venn has trained himself to keep calm and focus intently on Slicing even while taking blaster fire from cover or when placed under time constraints. In truth, Jarek Venn almost works better when under duress, and actually needs motivation, typically, when Slicing.
Rather than waste shots, Jarek Venn looks for targets of opportunity – fuel tanks, supports, enemy specialists – to end fights more efficiently than simply overwhelming the enemy. However, if he focuses on this too much, he can easily be caught flat-footed by a flanking maneuver or overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
