Anselm Valreyes is no greenhorn when it comes to dealing with those who wish him ill. At some point, he managed to cross the wrong people, and now they've got a mark on his hide for it. While such experiences have hardened him for adrenaline-filled moments of evading those who seek to make him their quarry, he can never be quite sure if he is truly safe, for promises of wealth or power can turn even the most seemingly stalwart of allies to enemies with knives poised at his back.

Anselm Valreyes can be very protective, and when any of his friends are being bullied or threatened, he will step in to defend them. This can get Anselm Valreyes in trouble when he refuses to back down during these exchanges, and sometimes has trouble discerning between friendly teasing and intentional insults. However, because of this fierce loyalty, his friends know that no matter what, Anselm Valreyes will be there for them.

Anselm Valreyes doesn't like to work in groups or teams and feels most comfortable on his own. Anselm Valreyes sticks to himself, sets his own pace, and doesn't share feelings or emotions with others. While the Lone Wolf can get things done quietly and efficiently, he tends to be emotionally cut off and has problems relating to his comrades.

Anselm Valreyes manages to always see the down side to every silver-lining, joyous occasion, or victory. Where some may see a boon, Anselm Valreyes will often see the curse accompanying it, just around the corner.Anselm Valreyes's constant pessimism can often lead to conflict and the annoyance of those around him, not to mention the dampening of spirits. However, this mindset is not without its benefits, for a pessimist is far more likely to be prepared for the worst and be left unscathed by it - after all, none are more prepared for the worst case scenario than the ones expecting it all along.

When it comes to a fight, some like to posture, some like to act tough, some like to dance around and go through all sorts of fancy footwork. Anselm Valreyes? Anselm Valreyes doesn't bother with exotic battle stances, intricate maneuvers, or super-secret tactics. Anselm Valreyes, when cornered into a fight, prefers the ancient technique of a good kick to the nuts. And if that won't work, either because the enemy is a woman or has balls of steel, Anselm Valreyes isn't beyond pulling a few more cheap tricks out of the bag. Granted, Anselm Valreyes won't be winning any medals for nobility or any prestige for a unique fighting style or a superb maneuver, but Anselm Valreyes will still be winning, the best and most dirty way he knows how.

Where most err on the side of caution in a confrontation, Anselm Valreyes prefers to charge in head-first. While others may skirt a battlefield or keep their careful distance, Anselm Valreyes rushes in with devastating attacks with seemingly no regard for safety, relying upon instinct and possibly armor to protect him from dismemberment and death during his all-out attacks. Anselm Valreyes is a force to be feared on the battlefield, leaving a trail of death and destruction. However, Anselm Valreyes's blood-hungry ways put him in far more danger than the normal combatant, often resulting in needless injury and suffering, trading safety for pure offensive ability.
