Chief Inquisitor Acantha Tesalun, Ghost
Acantha carries herself with the taut, coiled energy of a serpent poised to strike. Her build is compact and wiry, all lean muscle primed for quick, fast-twitch movements. Yet there is still a softness to her, evidenced by the graceful curves of her body.
Her skin is light golden brown with olive undertones owing to her mixed ancestry, tanned and slightly weathered by her extensive time spent outdoors. Across her face and along the length of her collarbones, geometric Mirialan tattoos mark her achievements—sharp triangles and interlocking bars cast in the deepest sable. Some lines are crisp and ceremonial, done by a professional's hand; others were clearly added later, and are more roughly etched as if they were carved hastily -- perhaps in the midst of combat.
Her hair is thick and unkempt, falling in uneven, shoulder-length tresses that curl and twist no matter how often she combs and brushes them. A few small braids, threaded with beads or bits of bone, hang near her temple. Because she's half Firrerreo, Acantha's hair is naturally two-toned: predominantly chestnut brown with many sandy blond portions mixed in. Acantha's eyes are a pale gray, bright enough to seem reflective in low light.
A lifetime of combat, both in the wilderness and in urban settings, has left her with many thin scars that have healed abnormally well, leaving only thin lines across her skin that resemble the textured skin of other species with quick glances.
Be it during a fight or life in general, moral compass means little to Acantha Tesalun. If you don’t want a person harmed, you had better specify. General terms mean nothing to her as Acantha Tesalun only deals in specifics. If the rules of a duel say you can’t shoot before the count of three? A grenade over the shoulder is fair game, then. Tell Acantha Tesalun to stop someone at all costs, well, you better not be concerned if they’re brought back dead or alive.
Acantha Tesalun is extremely competitive and strives to become the best at every task she is given. The benefit of this cutthroat approach to life and work is that she will always give 100%, pushing herself to her physical or mental limits to overcome any task. However, Acantha Tesalun’s overzealous ambition makes her insufferable to all but the most patient of companions, making it difficult to make friends while she either proves successful or utterly fails at being the best.
Killing has never been a problem for Acantha Tesalun; and she kind of enjoys it now, if she is honest. Killing's what Acantha Tesalun does, and she likes what she does.
Acantha Tesalun rarely acts without an alternate motive when it comes to lending aid or acting in a situation. Be it greed, power, or something else, almost undoubtedly Acantha Tesalun is after something more than what she says - though sometimes Acantha Tesalun is even blunt enough to admit to it. While her self-serving attitude comes as a boon, usually, to her survival and pocketbook, her relationships are often strained by her outright selfish attitude.
When it comes to a fight, some like to posture, some like to act tough, some like to dance around and go through all sorts of fancy footwork. Acantha Tesalun? Acantha Tesalun doesn't bother with exotic battle stances, intricate maneuvers, or super-secret tactics. Acantha Tesalun, when cornered into a fight, prefers the ancient technique of a good kick to the nuts. And if that won't work, either because the enemy is a woman or has balls of steel, Acantha Tesalun isn't beyond pulling a few more cheap tricks out of the bag. Granted, Acantha Tesalun won't be winning any medals for nobility or any prestige for a unique fighting style or a superb maneuver, but Acantha Tesalun will still be winning, the best and most dirty way she knows how.
Acantha Tesalun works hard to maintain an image of fierce tenacity despite being of a smaller stature. To that extent, Acantha Tesalun has learned to not take jabs about her stature offensively, but to instead burn them quietly as fuel for her inner spirit. The flame that is sparked as a result is controlled by Acantha Tesalun's discipline of never overestimating her own abilities or those of her opponents. She has trained to fully utilize her size as an advantage when fighting larger opponents. She knows exactly how to leverage her weight to deliver the most effective take downs or maneuvers. The effort to maintain this image can be draining at times, and when outmatched or overwhelmed, Acantha Tesalun becomes susceptible to a loss of spirit.
