Courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance, and unbreakable spirit are central ideals to Xiaying's martial way of life. Her unwavering dedication to living her life in this way makes her a reliable, dependable person, but she is unable to act in a way that would be considered dishonourable, or understand those that do.

A philosopher besides a fighter, Xiaying has a reputation for thoughts and ideas on how to live life to its fullest as well as on martial expression. Xiaying also lives her philosophies, believing that philosophies are meant to be applied not just pondered. She has a reputation for wisdom beyond her years, but can find it difficult to communicate with those who do not share the same outlook on the world as she does.

The Jedi are selfless, caring only about others. Xiaying is compassionate, brave and always strives to represent the common good. She tries to help everyone she can, even at her own expense, and is a fine role model for others to follow.

Xiaying exemplifies the ideals of the martial culture of the Nayama Dynasty, in the Caperion System also home to Scholae Palatinae. She is dedicated to her martial training above all else, the ultimate training for the mind, body, spirit, and to find true inner peace with oneself. As a means to this end, training has taken over her life, and she will regularly spend the entire day practising in the arts of the spear, sword and hand-to-hand combat.

Xiaying considers causing major physical damage to other individuals to be of poor form and a lazy approach to dealing with a problem. In a fight, she'll look to finish the fight without hurting the opponent if possible. If that isn't possible, she will seek to debilitate the opponent without causing major injury. Failing that, she will inflict non-lethal wounds. Although she seeks to avoid it, in some situations, killing is the only way. She is not above killing but sometimes prolongs a fight unnecessarily to try to avoid it.

Nayaman martial arts are taught primarily through exotic dance-like forms than sparring, and Xiaying's style reflects that. She moves gracefully, efficiently and smoothly in melee combat, with many flourishes and acrobatic movements. This enhances her striking power due to the thousands and thousands of repetitions of each movement, but she is less prepared deal with unscrupulous, dirty tactics frowned upon by true martial artists.
