Darren “Shooter” McGavin is a firm believer that the galaxy at large would be better off without the Force, those that command it, and those that follow them, mirroring the views of Liberation Front leader Rath Oligard. After watching the galaxy burn time and time again during his relatively young lifespan, Darren “Shooter” McGavin has devoted himself to eliminating any notion of the Force from the galaxy, starting with agents of the Dark Brotherhood.

While Darren “Shooter” McGavin will see a job through to its conclusion and put forward his best effort, it’s still just a job. Darren “Shooter” McGavin's true loyalties lie to his friends, and through thick and thin,he will stand by them and die for them if needed. This loyalty is reserved for those who have earned Darren “Shooter” McGavin's trust, putting him at odds with other Mercenaries that are only doing a job for the money. This also makes it harder for employers to trust his motives, often times creating extra competition and difficulty finding work. None of it matters to Darren “Shooter” McGavin, though, because loyalty to his friends is not something credits can buy.

Darren “Shooter” McGavin is a lateral thinker, and when he encounters problems or dilemmas, he is very good at improvising and coming up with alternative solutions. This allows Darren “Shooter” McGavin to find ways out of situations others might give up on. While these solutions are often not so obvious to others, Darren “Shooter” McGavin can typically explain and lead others through his plan...as long as they are patient and willing enough to trust him outside thinking.

Darren “Shooter” McGavin would much rather be behind a hand of good sabacc cards or a rare vintage of aged liquor than with his blasters or ship. More often than not, he will spend nights at high-end establishments gambling, drinking and "socializing". Darren “Shooter” McGavin can survive without the finer things, but he sure would rather not. This preference follows him onto the job, so it is not uncommon for Darren “Shooter” McGavin to insult a client or potential partner by commenting on their choice of beverage or recreation.

Darren “Shooter” McGavin may wear a lightsaber at his waist, but he always goes for his trusty blaster instead, preferring to shoot it out from range rather than trying to get in up-close and personal. Only as a last resort will he go for his lightsaber.

If Darren “Shooter” McGavin had been in Greedo’s shoes, Han Solo would be pushing up daisies. He almost always acts on instinct, which typically means he can be seen as impulsive and may not think his actions through, especially in situations during or leading up to combat.
