Character Snapshot (Dr. Bril Teg Erinos)
Dr. Bril Teg Erinos, Vanguard
Bril Teg Arga is a Zabrak male with brown skin that has warm undertones that contrast starkly with the black tattoos that snake across it. His coffee-brown hair is arranged in small locs each woven into larger bundles and bound in a ponytail that descends past his shoulders. Seven vestigial horns poke out from his mane of hair. He has eyes of crystal blue.
Bril is only slightly taller than the average Zabrak, standing at approximately 1.9 meters. He has a muscular frame and has a lot of lean muscle that he works to maintain with regular, routine exercise.
Bril Teg Erinos is a highly spiritual person with a deep reverence for the beliefs of his Iridonian and Dathomiri ancestors, as well as trust in the Force to guide him. Although he has always walked a fine line between the Light and Dark Side, he has since forsaken the latter in favor of becoming a devotee of the Light Side alone.
Moreover, Bril's heighted connection to the Living Force has instilled a deep reverence for life within him. His reliance on the Living Force both complements and confirms the holistic beliefs of his people because his Force senses have instilled him with an understanding of how all life is interconnected through the Living Force. He perceives the Force as a flame, which is often equated with life itself by his Iridonian tribesman. He also sees it as the very spark that makes life possible.
Bril Teg Erinos possesses an innate and powerful connection to the Living Force that grants him a near-constant awareness of the presence, feelings, emotions, and intentions of other beings through the Force. This heightened sensitivity to living beings makes Bril Teg Erinos a highly empathetic person with a great reverence for life. Whether it be to better understand his friends or family, to aid in his research, or to make him more sensitive in battle, Bril Teg Erinos' Force sense is his most cherished ability that is as natural to him as breathing.
However, the constant influx of sensory information can be overwhelming if Bril Teg Erinos doesn't take the time to quiet his senses until he truly needs them. Moreover, the feeling of constantly being "read" this invokes can lead to people feeling like their privacy has been invaded if they realize what Bril Teg Erinos is doing.
Bril Teg Erinos has managed to retain the sense of wonder of his youth, which he now channels into a voracious appetite for not just knowledge but understanding. He loves learning new things, especially those things that he can put into practice or apply to other aspects of his life. His intellectually rich upbringing has instilled a love for academia and scholarship within him, which he has excelled in since joining the Brotherhood. Natural ability combined with a love for learning allows Bril Teg Erinos to learn new concepts very quickly; however, his almost childlike curiosity can lead to him seeking out information that he shouldn't or that is potentially dangerous to him. This makes him more likely to get into trouble while chasing down leads for his research.
Bril Teg Erinos' determination to fight for what he believes in and those he loves is unyielding. Intense study in the Aurora Collegium, thousands of hours of combat practice, and passionate philosophical debate with his peers are all in service to what he considers a responsibility and a higher calling. In battle, Bril almost always leads the charge, fighting alongside his fellow clanmates and soldiers. He often takes on missions alone if he knows it'll spare the lives of others.
Although he doesn't want to become a martyr, his drive to constantly break past his own limits in every aspect of his life and to throw himself in the fray in the name of protecting others places a heavy burden on a man who is still so young. And if he isn't careful, he can collapse under the weight of all the obligations he places on himself.
Through careful study and dedication to isolated martial-combat, Bril Teg Erinos has turned the act of dueling into an art form. Bril's dedication to combining both his hand-to-hand combat and his lightsaber combat has resulted in the creation of a style entirely unique to him. Bril has learned how to seamlessly blend both martial arts and saber dueling, often switching between them to overwhelm his opponent. The precise grappling maneuvers and submissions of Whiptree complement the highly technical, conservative forms of Makashi while the brutally efficient strikes of Mandalorian Core blend well with the aggressive and fast-paced style of Vaapad.
However, all of these styles that Bril Teg Erinos have combined into one are best suited against single opponents in close quarters. As such, he can have trouble mounting an effective offense when fighting groups of enemies or when those enemies are attacking from range.
Bril's submission to the Will of the Force has augmented the wild powers of his Dathomirian lineage. Once fueled by dark emotions and enigmatic rites, the flames he conjures in unarmed combat have transformed from their typical orange to a pure, radiant white -- a visual representation of his spiritual growth. He uses these flames in defense of everything he holds dear, as a symbol of Light and Life. In battle, he blends a mastery of unarmed combat with devastating pyrokinetic attacks; even the flames spouted from his Mandalorian Vambraces change colors when he takes control of them.
When his pyrokinesis alone isn't enough to defeat his enemies, he conjures lightning of the same color, projecting powerful blasts of electricity from his fingertips born from emotions associated with the Light Side of the Force: love, serenity, and compassion. His lightning is a manifestation of the divine spark within, not the Dark.
