When viewing the world
I can almost remember
The way it wasn't.

The Grand Admiral,
Who from the Unknown Regions
cow'd the Republic.

Hundreds of Jedi,
Crusading the galaxy
For both Light and Dark

Ancient empires,
Waging their wars for decades
In ages long past.

I know all these things,
And this history beckons
Although it is false.

Disney came along
and took away our canon.
They call it "Legends"

Now it's just fanon.
All the things we loved are gone,
taken by Mickey.

Writing fiction now
has all become quite tricky.
"Did that thing happen?"

"Is that planet there?"
I need this for my story,
but they just don't care.

I know it's minor,
all I'm doing is stating
that it's frustrating.

Once in the EU
Was a man who was named Thrawn
A Grand Admiral

Blue-skinned like his race
With eyes that glowed a blood-red
His gaze was piercing

Wholly alien
Yet rising above the fray
Beyond prejudice

His tactics were sound
His strategies were genius
There was no better

Nearing perfection
But the future was not set
And death soon followed

I no longer live.
I exist in memory.
I am Exar Kun.

Lord of the Darkness.
Massassi serve my whimsy.
Naga Sadow's slaves.

A former Jedi.
I did not fall, I chose this.
Immortality.

Ulic my ally.
Or was he my enemy?
Or perhaps them both?

Learn from history.
Trust no one to follow you.
Rule all, be the king.

The Legends gave us
many memories, such as
Chalmun’s Cantina—

the Gotal, Givin,
Arcona and Bith, each with
a story to tell.

The great characters
of the films were brought to life
with tales and trials,

Butchers of Serat,
escapes from the Sarlacc Pit,
blue-skinned conquerors.

But then I recall:
“Stir, whip, stir, whip, whip, whip, stir!”
Forget the Legends.

Remember the light,
Forget what we hated there,
Fickle human thought.

We make memory,
Amid warm friends and ventures,
But forget shadows.

We hated so much,
Our voices raised against them,
Taking for granted.

Remember the good,
But see it in the future,
Not the past alone,

Let us remember,
Our friends and greatest heroes,
And find new ones too.
