Competition: ACC Strategies: Wisdom is Strength

ACC Strategies: Wisdom is Strength

The ACC is an arena designed to test fighter's ability to outmatch their opponent. Being able to out muscle one's opponent is surely a great start, but the winner is usually determined by who can maneuver the battle in a way that is original and satisfying to the judges. An excellent way to ensure victory is to understand your enemy. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses, as well as theirs, places you at an advantage already and helps to ensure your writing can be creative while remaining realistic.

This competition serves to stretch the strategic part of your brain and give a basic feel of how an ACC match might go as far as who would realistically win. Meaning, it's aimed towards Journeymen and those who have not spent much time in a Venue, but definitely open as well to veterans to refresh and have some fun doing it.

The goal is simple: pick an opponent from within the clan, the catch being someone who is at least the same rank or above as you. A Knight cannot challenge a Hunter, but a Hunter can challenge a Knight, etc. List a few of their strengths and weaknesses (no less than 3 of each). After that provide an outline of how you would use your own strengths to defeat them, while defending your weaknesses.

The top three submissions will be awarded based on creativity, realism in use of skills and powers and logical applications of strengths vs weaknesses.

Target member: Warrior Malice

The target member's character is a powerful Sith Warrior with access to various Force powers and lightsaber training, a key strength over a Non-Force User (though not an end-all-be-all). Her set of powers and other key feats make Malice a master of manipulating her surroundings and causing a potential opponent severe fear or confusion. Using these powers she can catch an opponent off guard, and a moment is all it takes to end a battle.

As well, Malice has the ability to bond with beasts, having with her her loyal Nexu. Being utterly loyal to Malice, the beast can distract, harm, and even maim an opponent if the opportunity presents itself, presenting an unpredictable and self-sufficient element to a battle.

Finally, Malice possesses superior Survival skills and knowledge to go with it. Her knowledge of various flora and fauna, as well as knowledge of the terrain on which she walks on allows Malice the ability to control the environment of the battle. If she has outmatched her opponent, she can use her knowledge to create tactics that toy and wear down her opponents until they succumb to her blade, or perhaps something more sinister. In turn if she is at a disadvantage, her knowledge can allow her valuable time to lead her quarry into a trap, or perhaps a more tactical position, or even the ability to mend her wounds if the time is on her side.

My character: Laren Uscot

Laren Uscot is a highly trained Non-Force User, Mercenary and Bounty Hunter. His background in soldiering, his training and experience working for and against Force Users, and his superior knowledge of spy craft allow him many advantages over unsuspecting opponents.

Specifically against the target member, Laren would employ aggressive tactics. Having a base understanding of his opponents power based on his Intelligence and Perception, Laren would aggressively pursue his target, making use of both improvised and premeditated plans of attack and escape, if necessary. He would give no ground when possible, and attempt to engage Malice in hand to hand combat.

Secondly, after Laren had disabled, disarmed, or subdued Malice into a hand to hand conflict, he would be sure to have his own blaster on hand, waiting for the right moment. Though she would match him blow for blow, Laren's athletics and endurance would ever so slightly outlast his Sith opponents. Though she would make heavy use of her powers of Terror and Illusion, his past experience, training, and highly focused perception would be able to see through her ruse.

Throughout this battle, Malice would bring to bear her beast. Beyond her Force powers and knowledge of her surroundings, her beast would be a serious threat. If possible, Laren would continually use his own surroundings to his advantage, limiting the movement and striking capacity of the beast. If that didn't work, Laren would be sure to Run and Gun, dispersing with the Sith Warrior long enough to land a critical, though not killing blow against the beast.

In the end, Malice and Laren would be evenly matched. If Malice won the day, it would be due to her superior force powers, knowledge of the terrain, and the assistance of her beast companion. However, if Laren won the day, it would be due to his superior ranged weaponry and endurance, his ability to both improvise and create solid plans, and the ability to neutralize her power of fear and use of her lightsaber.
