Starfall: Pride of an Empire

Objective: After years of defending the Empire against outside threats the time has come to go on the offensive and expand the Empire. Capture how your character is handling this change. Are they glad to be pressing out? Apprehensive due to the unknowns? Apathetic to the cause and just want to shoot stuff?

Scoring: Minimum of 15 lines of poetry required. Free prose is not allowed, must follow some form of rhyme or poetry style (e.g. 5 Haiku, or an ABAB Rhyme style).

Grading will be based upon poetic composition, adherence to the prompt, and creativity of the poem.

“It’s time to fight,”
Alara spoke her mind in reply
“There’s no point to sit back
and Watch the others die.”

“We need to fight for what is ours.
Despite their possible strength and powers.
There’s good defense yes, but when the day is done,
We still have a battle that’s yet to be won.

We cannot grow without some pains.
Some lives may be lost, but success will be gained.
Our Empire is strong, and has roots that sustain
Our purpose, our hope. And I, Alara Deathbane,

Agree to do what must be accomplished
To fight and to survive until we reach the ‘Land of Promise’.
We have enemies that must be soon abolished.
We have Rebellion cities that must be demolished.

It won’t be easy, but it never has been.
The war to be seized is the war that we win.
Our journey starts now, our path will begin
It’s time to reach for courage that lies within.”

She got up from her seat and looked to the sky.
She pictured herself as a ruping, flying high.
This chase, this race, this battle that was nigh,
She knew this was her chance to show what she’s like.

Alara, time to prove yourself, she thought to herself,
No time to relax, it’s time to excel.
You know what to do, let’s go and expel
Those fools that may stop us. It’s their graves we may delve.

The first offensive in years
How good those words in the ears
Moving away from home
All at the orders from the throne.

The Emperor had made it known
He wanted to push to the unknown.
Defending home for far too long
Now we go to make our song.

Sitting here on the ship
Waiting for the start of the trip
Moving into the dark of space
Slowly we go it's not a race.

The time had come to leave port
Here we go no time to abort
The troubles we find will be brand new
Here we go we will follow through.
