Competition: Pathfinder's HQ

Finished
Pathfinder's HQ

House Satele Shan's planet, Daleem is our home. Due to our nature however, the Pathfinders have our own headquarters building separate from the main base.

In this comp describe the base, where it is, does it have a special name, what is the layout, how many people are there, which guild helped up build it if any? These are the questions to focus on.

This should be done in the style of a wiki article and the winner's entry may be picked to become the wiki for our base.

Wiki formatting is not required and there is a 75 word minimum. I won't put a maximum, but remember this is an article.

You may attach a sketch of the base layout to accompany the description if you like.

The article will be graded based on: Readability(is it written like an article no a perspective?)-30%, Creativity-35%, Realism (does the base make sense for a Battleteam? Does it fit the area its in?)-25%, Spelling/Grammar-10%

Freedon Nadd Lake Outpost

“The fifty meter tunnel just opens up Len.” Talis exclaimed into his communicator.
“How big is it?”
“Oh its big enough,” Talis paused, “and beautiful.”

--Brief History--
The lake was found by Jedi Knight Talis DeMorte while scouting the tunnels of Daleem with members of an expeditionary squad sent out to scout the planet for Satele Shan’s relocation. The fifty meter tunnel they were in opened up to a large expanse with an opening in the ceiling just large enough for a corvette class cruiser. The opening had let enough rainwater in to create a lake at the bottom of it. The main cavern area was created by various forces of nature. Two ledges protruded from the sides of the cavern giving plenty of room for a base. Talis messaged back to the leader of Garza’s Pathfinders and relayed its possibility as a new base of operations for the group. It had everything from sandy beaches to swampy terrain. It is a small ecosystem of its own among the barren rocks. The name of the lake and outpost were chosen as a homage to the tale of Freedon Nadd, the prodigal apprentice of Odan Urr who turned to the darkside by choice. Reiterating that this was a choice for them and to be light was the harder choice. The base was made in conjunction with both the Ship Smith’s Guild and the engineers from the Indag conclave. To aid in the compounds secrecy all files about the construction and the site were kept on the site and workers were brought in by windowless shuttles. In return for this secrecy a deal for intel on competitors activities was struck. Those types of missions are deemed training in nature but pay very well so they do not pull the members of Garza’s Pathfinders away from their primary duties but are an easy way to earn the unit funds.

--Chamber--
The chamber has two openings. One on the east and west side of it. The lake follows what use to have been the tunnel route straight across the cavern chamber from east to west. It is approximately one thousand meters from east to east and two hundred meters at its widest point in the middle. On the northern side of the lake is a large ledge that sits 5 meters above the sandy beaches and stretches eight hundred meters. The widest point of the northern ledge is on the western side of the ledge. It goes from three hundred and fifty meters wide and tapering down to the wall on the eastern side. The ledge is large enough to hold a large complex and is situated right beneath the hole in the ceiling. The ledge on the southern side of the cavern is 15 meters above the sandy beaches that surround the lake and is about fifty meters from wall to ledge. There is a large cavern on the western side of the southern ledge that is about 20 meters deep and 5 meters high. There is a swamp on the the western side of the lake that turns into the lake where very little water moves. On the Eastern entrance is a small creek that flows steadily down the tunnel pooling in several places.

--Freedon Nadd Lake Base--
---Main Compound---
The main compound is nestled on the northern ledge, on the far western side. The main compound is six stories high with the first three stories being 5 meters high each and the final three stories only 3 meters tall each. Making the main complex 39 meters tall and two hundred meters across at its widest point with large conduit going up the wall of the cavern up to through the opening in the ceiling to antenna arrays and communication equipment. A small bunker is up there to defend it and to house the maintenance personnel for the comm arrays. The entrance to the temple goes straight out onto the flight deck where supplies can be loaded and offloaded straight into the main building.

-----Rusty Jawa-----
A creation by the maintenance chief. The bar stays stocked because pilots bring alcohol in from their runs as well as communal offerings from the troops as the come and go from missions. It is customary to put your name on the board when you go on a mission. If you fall they etch your name into a steel plate that was salvaged off the first starfighter to crash in the cavern. Six names scar the plating of honor. Sevir Tal’fis the first death in the cavern. Caldin Vassen, Tha’va Rill, Case Tiikten, three special missions troopers who died from a maintenance accident that electrocuted them at their stations.
