[GJW XII Event Long] Battle Plan - Phase 1: Breaking The Blockade

Grading Criteria: Valid entries that meet the requirements will be graded based on this linked grading criteria: Battle Plan Grading Criteria.

Valid Entry Criteria: Valid entries will come from one (1) member, but must consist of a two (2) to four (4) person team all from the same Clan and not part of any other team participating in this Battle Plan competition. Members can be part of one (1) team only. For members not in a Clan, they must form a valid group meeting size requirements with other members, not in a Clan. Valid entries must outline some type of plan that attempts to carry out the mission as outlined in the competition prompt using provided details and have at least 500 words of content. Valid entries must also have participation from every member of the team, contributing a reasonable amount of effort, with a summary of each member's contributions as well as their dossier pin numbers provided with the entry.

Prompt: The enemy has blockaded the planet of Nancora, and you and your fellow Clan members have been called on to put together a plan to break that blockaded and gain a foothold in the city of Axio on the surface. The following details provided will help develop this plan to carry out the stated objective.

Situation, Enemy Fleet Forces: The enemy has an entire battle group dedicated to a blockade in orbit above the planet of Nancora: Battle Group Elysium It is expected that the enemy fleet will act aggressively, never backing down with little regard for their own lives to prevent anyone or anything from passing their blockade, so their likely course of action is to remain engaged unless destroyed or your own retreat. Additional elements of the enemy fleet are also in orbit but are not expected to reinforce the position due to additional engagements by Brotherhood forces inside the window of this specific engagement.

Situation, Enemy Ground Forces: The enemy planet Nancora has a Type IV atmosphere, requiring environmental suits or closed armor on the ground due to the extreme temperatures on the planet. The city Axio is a massive metropolis visible from space as a large disc with concentric city blocks. In the center of the city is a massive citadel that serves as a seat of power, shielded and protected by defense towers that make a direct assault dangerous and impossible. There are three possible approaches, with enemy strength and composition in each outlined below. In all cases, it will be just before dawn during the assault under the cover of relative darkness and clear skies.

Axio City Map
Axio City Map

  • Northern Assault: The northern sector is bordered by a steep mountain range that protects the approach from fire by the countless anti-aircraft weapon placements throughout the city. It is also a heavy industrial sector with test facilities and parts factories producing armor for the military. This puts a much larger quantity of heavy armor targets in this sector of the city.

  • Western Assault: The western sector is bordered by large, empty plains that at one point in the past served as an oceanfront giving virtually no cover from anti-aircraft weapon placements. It is a heavy commercial sector of the city and has a dense collection of spaceports and large berths for ships. It also has several spaceports that train pilots as well as ground-based defense starfighter forces. This puts a much larger quantity of starfighters in this sector of the city making air support difficult with the need to maintain space superiority.

  • Eastern Assault: The eastern sector is bordered by what used to be fertile farmland, and is now a collection of abandoned facilities and fields. As it is virtually flat, it gives little opportunity for cover from anti-aircraft weapon placements. It is a heavy residential sector of the city, housing a more densely packed portion of the population, but also is connected to massive barracks and training facilities for soldiers. This puts a much heavier concentration of enemy soldiers in this sector of the city, as well as elite forces that typically train new recruits.

Situation, Friendly Forces Deployment: You have at your disposal the entire collective strength of your Clan’s fleet. (Found on the possessions tab of the site on your Clan Roster) Rogue members should choose a Clan’s fleet to use for the purposes of this plan. However, it should be noted that it is strongly advised not to leave your Clan’s own holdings vulnerable to a sprawling new enemy whose scope is unknown in the galaxy. Dedicating a defense force from Clan possessions not part of the deployed friendly forces is advisable. Members of the team can participate in the plan, but keep in mind fleet forces will not participate in later ground engagements. No other members or NPCs can participate in the battle plan.

Situation, Friendly Forces Attach: The Shroud Syndicate has a range of mercenaries ready to jump to action for a few credits. At the request of your strike team can enlist the support of an attachment. You can optionally select only one (1) from the list below and must note which one (1) in the Friendly Forces portion of your plan to utilize if any.

  • Crack Squadrons: Four squadrons of TIE/SA Bombers will assist in the assault of the blockade to help break it and land troops, remaining in space after troops enter the atmosphere.
  • Blitz Squadrons: Four squadrons of TIE/SK Atmospheric Fighters will accompany the ground forces past the blockade, providing devastating strafing runs on selected vulnerable targets during the ground assault later in the engagement.
  • Spark Squadron: Two squadrons of TIE/D Defenders will assist in the assault of the blockade to help achieve and maintain space superiority both in space and above the landed troops later in the engagement.
  • Rampart Base A specialized support team that will install a powerful base shield and extra power generator that will defend and holds up against any expected enemy attacks once on the ground.

Mission: Objective is to break the enemy blockade above Nancora and land ground forces in a chosen sector of the city Axio and await further orders.
