Competition: Brotherhood Gaming League: Season One
Welcome to the Brotherhood Gaming League!
There will be a series of gaming tournaments across multiple platforms culminating in the ultimate prize: a Champions Tournament pitting the best vs. the best!
16+ Participants
Phase One
Group Stage
In this phase, all members who sign up will be placed into groups (size and number dependent on sign-ups) selected at random. Groups will have a minimum of 4 members each. The group stage will last three weeks in length. Each member will play every other member in their group twice (back-to-back or different times are acceptable). At the conclusion of the group stage the members who placed 1st or 2nd in each group will advance to the bracket phase.
Ties will be broken by Head-to Head record between tied members and then a single playoff Best-of-Five.
Phase Two
Knockout Stage
The first round of the bracket will feature 1st place teams playing against a random 2nd place team from a different group. The seeding of those match-ups will be randomized. The brackets will remain fixed up until the end of the bracket tournament.
Phases One and Two will repeat for a total of three times. Rankings will continue to be tallied throughout the season based on the following scoring system.
- Phase Two Champion: 20 Points
- Phase Two Runner Up: 15 Points
- Phase Two Semi-Finalist: 10 Points
- Phase Two Quarter-Finalist: 7 Points
- Phase Two Semi-Quarter Finalist (if available): 4 Points
- Phase One Participant: 1 Point
- Each Phase One Win: 1 Point
Thus if a member’s record is 4-2 in Phase One and they qualify for Phase Two and finish as a Semi-Finalist, they would score 14 total points toward Champions Tournament qualifying.
Phase Two Champions will automatically qualify for the Champions Tournament regardless of final points total. If a Phase Two Champion qualifies for the Champions Tournament more than once in this manner, the number of at-large members qualifying will increase accordingly.
Phase Three
Champions Tournament
The sixteen topped ranked gamers (the three champions and thirteen at-large members) of the season will proceed to the Champions Tournament.
The Champions Tournament will be a standard tournament bracket, seeded by total Qualifying points, regardless of Champion status. Thus it is technically possible that someone who has not won a tournament to be 1st Seed. If there is a tie for 16th, the members will play a "Round Zero" which will count for participation. Ties for seeding will be broken in the following manner:
- Highest placement in Phase Two
- Head-to-Head
- Total Phase One Wins
- Coin Flip.

Phase One
Regular Season
All teams/members are placed into two divisions at random (if 9 or more entrants, one division if 8 or less). Every team/member will play against every other team/member from their group only once. Regular seasons will last for three weeks. Division ties will be broken by head-to-head match-up. It is possible that 3 or more teams/members tie, even after following the previous tie-breaker. If they all would qualify for the playoffs regardless, they will be seeded randomly. If not, they will be handled on a case by case basis, and may require internal playoff with a tertiary tie breaker.
Phase Two
Playoffs
The top four teams from each division (three if there are 5 or less entrants per division) from the regular season will advance to the playoffs and seeded by division. The playoff will occur inside divisions and then the two division playoff champions will play in the League Final. Points will be earned at the conclusion of the Playoff phase as follows:
- Phase Two Champion: 18 Points
- Phase Two Runner-Up: 12 Points
- Phase Two Semi-Finalist: 7 Points
- Phase Two Quarter Finalist: 4 Points
- Phase One Participant: 1 Point
- Phase One Win: 0.5 Points per win
Thus a team or member who finishes as a Semi-Finalist and had a Regular Season record of 4-1 will have 9 Points toward Champions Tournament Qualification. All Phase Two Champions will automatically qualify for the Champions Tournament regardless of Qualification Points.
Phase Three
Champions Tournament
The Champions Tournament will consist of the four Phase Two winners plus eight at-large teams/members. The top four qualifying point getters will receive a first round bye. Ties for seeding will be broken in the following manner:
- Highest placement in Phase Two
- Head-to-Head
- Total Phase One Wins
- Coin Flip.
Overlap
It is possible for one single platform to transition back and forth from large entrant to small entrant. Scoring accounts for that, awarding less points to a small entrant Phase Two victory than large entrant Phase Two victory.
Phase Three will be dependent on total number of participants. If a platform transitioned from large to small entrant, Phase Three will treated as a small entrant Champions Tournament.
