Competition: A symbol of power.

Finished
A symbol of power.

The Darksaber was once legendary. A weapon to be used by those who led the Deathwatch. It united Mandalorians under a common cause and many feared it as a result.

Sadly, the location of the Darksaber is now unknown, but your Battleteam Leader has asked you to create a unique weapon that you would use if you were leader of Battleteam Deathwatch.

You can use any format you want. Written description, drawn picture... Whatever you feel like. But it must have a name, you must describe the specifications as well as the weapons history and why you think it's appropriate for Battleteam Deathwatch.

Entries will be judged on a point system.

  • Creativity: 1-5 points.
  • Star Wars realism: 1-5 points.

Ties will be broken by my overall enjoyment of the entry submitted.

Good luck, Battleteam Deathwatch. Hopefully we can put whatever you create to use in hunting down the scum after the Quaestor's life...

This competition will be graded blind.

Modified Mandalorian Ripper

This weapon was once the staple of Mandalorian weapons used by officers of their ranks. While this weapon has been outlawed by the republic due to its ability to disrupt and ignore personal fields, it has been modified to look more akin to a DH-11 blast pistol. Though the victims would discover it to be otherwise once fired. As it is a slug thrower that has been used in other designs, though the first was the Mandalorian ripper during the Great Sith Wars.

The use of this weapon would negate any defenses that the Collective would have, disguising it to look like a regular DH-11 pistol will give confusion to our enemies alongside upgrading it to more modern standards would only improve its capabilities. Thus, while our protective gear would still give room for error, this weapon granted to our battleteam would devastate the battlefield with vast efficiency. Bringing back an ancient weapon of our people. The only issue would be to bring it into Republic space, as it is illegal, though how often do we really abide by their rules?

The Core

The Core is a sturdy, long metal sword with a simple appearance. It has golden decorations on the hilt.

The Core is a sword powered by the Force. It grants the wielder extreme abilities to wield it and enhances their Force powers or if the wielder is not Force Sensitive, they gain a weak level of Force Sensitivity when they hold it. The sword's blade appears to be made out of an alloy from Mandalorian iron and another unknown material. It is heavy and very sharp but it cannot be broken or even dented.

Other than enhancing the wielder's Force powers, it also negates all Force powers used by anyone else in a 3 meter area. The hilt must be held in someone's hand in order to not negate their connection to the Force. Its blade can withstand lightsabers and strong explosions and it is able to deflect blaster shots, having been fire upon by an entire platoon in order to destoy it, resulting in the death of almost all of the soldiers.

The Core was built around 5000 BBY by a group of Jedi that wanted to destroy the Dark Side. It was originally built with the intent to eliminate the Dark Side connection someone had with the Force, but it wasn't powerful enough. They got help from willing Mandalorians that had no wish for war. It is said that the core of the blade was built with Kyber crystals modified with the Force, although because it cannot be broken, that cannot be checked.

After the Galactic Republic became the Galactic Empire, it was moved to Alderaan. When Alderaan was destroyed by the Death Star, the Core was able to resist the explosion supposedly because it was fired by a Kyber crystal weapon. Scoundrels found the weapon floating in space and sold it cheaply to a merchant.

After the New Jedi Order was formed, Jedi kept saying that they heard the call of a weapon. A Jedi once passed the merchant and bought the sword, although it wasn't safe. The Core attracted Sith too. After that Jedi died, Jedi and Sith stopped hearing the call of the Core.

Currently, the Core is in possession of a Weapons merchant, although it could always call for another person.
