Competition: [TAL] New Pursuits

The power of the dark side has returned to the Caelus System. The Force-sensitive Seekers of the Force Mystics division have sensed a previously hidden group of powers emanating from one of the moons of the system's gas giant Perune, Ostara. Previous scanning of the moon has shown no large or even medium-scale settlements, causing theories to swirl within the Clan's leadership of a possible hidden facility. With little option but to follow up the Clan's leadership has shepherded a scouting mission to the moon, dispatching diverse personnel to locate the source of the power sensed by the Mystics and investigate.

Elsewhere, Taldryan works to establish a deal with a large arms corporation in order to fuel development and sale of its own technologies through the shell company TEAD Technologies, while simultaneously trying to license the manufacturing of the other company's products. In order to make this happen, a high-profile meeting has been set up between the executives of the arms corporation and designated representatives of Taldryan through TEAD.

Meanwhile back on Chyron, continued civil unrest in the shadows from actions conducted by Brotherhood members during Unsteady Ground has caused the formation of a pro-Caelus group that is completely loyal to the system's Chancellor, but vehemently opposed to Clan Taldryan and it's operations in the system. To counteract and quell the advancement of this group's end-goals, Taldryan has sent several agents to deal with this group inside Chyron's Imperial Sector - through use of force or pacifist settlement.

In the unknown depths of Wild Space, a strange communications signal is being broadcast from a previously undiscovered planet located within a few parsecs of the Caelus System, and the Sphere of Research & Intelligence has tracked its origins. Weary of a lure-trap by possible Collective or unknown forces, a small strike team has been sent to investigate the rocky and boreal planet for signs of life, technology, and any valuable resources that may be planet-side.

Prompts

Your entry has the opportunity to shape the micro-Taldryan storylines of the Clan's fictional divisions, while furthering the overall macro-Taldryan plot. You can choose to write any of the four prompts below regardless of which fiction division you have aligned your character with, but may only choose one.

Prompt 1 - New Visitors (Force Mystics)

Write a fiction that depicts either your main or alternative character (ALT)'s journey to the moon Ostara, and their discovery of a hidden temple located on the moon that is no longer un-inhabited, but instead occupied by a new dark entity, and what their investigation brings.

Prompt 2 - A Deal To Be Made (TEAD Technologies)

Write a fiction that depicts either your main or alternative character (ALT)'s journey to the high-profile meeting with a large arms company from Known Space taking place on a neutral site to both parties outside the Caelus System that at some point suffers an attack from a Collective cell, and whether you are successful or unsuccessful in making a deal with their best negotiators and engineers to license their works and incorporate TEAD Technologies' own into their products.

Prompt 3 - Eliminating A Threat (Community Outreach)

Write a fiction that depicts either your main or alternative character (ALT)'s tracking and encounter of the new pro-Caelus group that has taken roots in the Imperial Sector, and whether this group is eliminated through sheer force or disbanded through pacifistic ways; by talking it out.

Prompt 4 - Signal Discovery (Sphere of Research and Intelligence)

Write a fiction that depicts either your main or alternative character (ALT)’s journey to this newly discovered planet, and what sort of population or resources they find on its surface. For the purposes of this mission, your character(s) will be accompanied by a Delta-class T-3c Shuttle from Expedition Flight

Rules & Grading

• Entries must be a minimum of 500 words with no maximum using one of the prompts above (x1 CoI will be awarded for every 500 words written - minus the title, ID line, repeated in-fiction prompts, etc)
  • Use of a second prompt from the list above will mean immediate disqualification of your entry for placement.
• Your entry should be about your main or alternative character, and can feature any NPCs that you have access to. Use of personal and Clan NPCs is both welcome and encouraged.
• Adult content is allowed and will not be penalised if included, but any entries containing content above a "PG-13" level should not publish their entries ( please un-check "Publish Entry" in the submission page).
• Entries must be submitted in .pdf, .doc, or .txt format using the submission box on the Brotherhood website.
