Competition: [CDW][Run-on] Into the Abyss

Finished
[CDW][Run-on] Into the Abyss

Prompt

You have been sent to investigate a mysterious signal on the surface of a previously unexplored tundra planet. The order came down through official channels, and so you were dispatched with as much information as one could expect from territory unclaimed and untamed. Unbeknownst to you, the order has gone out to more than yourself, nor was the order received by just your Clan alone.

You find yourself upon the surface with the discovery of other Brotherhood members. Then, everything goes wrong, and the ground falls out from under you. Now, thrown to the abyss, you and the others must come together to survive a mad voyage back to the surface through innumerable obstacles. Who knows what is below the surface, what beasts lurk in the untamed darkness. Then, there remains the mystery of that signal that drew the attention of someone with the power to pass down orders. Can you work with members from other Clans so that you may all come out of this ordeal alive, or are you more likely to let animosity and hate destroy any chance of seeing daylight again?

Instructions

  • Form a team with other members; for this run-on, I suggest members from other clans.
  • The beginning post should include a snapshot of each member’s character sheet (main or alt).
  • The beginning post should consist of events leading up to the fall to set best the scene of the story you and your team are trying to tell.
  • Have fun, be creative and work as a team.

Tips

  • Reach out in the DB Fiction Telegram channel to gauge interest in forming a team; the key to this particular runon is to work with individuals you’ve not commonly worked with in the past, reach outside your clan.
  • Work together in a gdoc or other software to better work on continuity and story; this also makes proofreading more effective.

Rules/Guidelines

  • Teams must be made up of a minimum of three(3) members and no more than six(6).
  • Teams should be made up of members from different clans. However, it is not necessary; choosing to build a team entirely from one’s clan will negatively impact the special category in the runon’s scoring for your team.
  • Minimum of two(2) posts required to qualify for participation.
  • Minimum 500 words per post to qualify.
  • Maximum of 1500 words per post.
  • Participants cannot make consecutive posts. (No posting twice in a row.)
  • A Snapshot must be submitted for any character in use for the Run-on. This can be done by doing the following: Administration > Possessions and Loadouts > Snapshots > Create Snapshot or the following for Alts/NPCs: Additional Character Slots and NPCs > Manage > Loadouts > Snapshots > Create Snapshot.

Grading

Grading will make use of a modified Runon Rubric with the following specifications:

  • Team Makeup & Collaboration 20%
  • Presentation 5%
  • Continuity 20%
  • Realism 20%
  • Story 35%

Team Makeup & Collaboration is a special category for this particular runon that will be rated based on members’ ability to mesh with members from other clans and work together effectively.

You will be graded as a team! Work together!
