You and a partner must work together to write a story describing your characters’ attempts to complete one of the following tasks:

Prompt 1: Secure the Kyber Caves — Arcturus sacked Voraskel Palace with a lightsaber in his hand. Like his training in the Force, it must have come from somewhere, and the only possible source within the system is Kaerls. Even if Arcturus did not exploit the crystal cave, others could in the future; the Empire made it all too clear what kyber crystals can do in the wrong hands. Your mission is to investigate the caves and secure them from any non-Odanites who would seek to abuse them.

Prompt 2: Earn the trust of the Okami — The Okami clan has always been loyal to the Empress, provided she kept out of their affairs. However, given their impressive martial skills they could become a major threat if their loyalty ever waivers. You are to prove yourselves to the Okami and earn their trust and respect, most likely through some feat of strength or by surviving the harsh environment of Kaerls. Your ultimate goal is to determine the Okami clan's true loyalties and what, if anything, they can tell us about visitors to the kyber caves. Perhaps Sunrider is grasping at straws. Perhaps Arcturus found his lightsaber outside the system, and the Okami are unflinchingly loyal and honest. Or perhaps your characters will find that not all is as it seems.

Submissions and Grading

• Each participant must write at least five hundred (500) words to receive participation. One member of the team should submit the fiction as a .pdf. Additionally, clearly indicate which portions each member contributed. You are free to do this with fonts, color coding, or whatever system you deem fit. The organizers will add your partner during judgment.
• Submissions should clearly indicate which members participated.
• Snapshots are required but for main or alternate characters.
• Entries must follow the chosen prompt.
• Grading will be based on the Voice Fiction Rubric.
• Always ask permission before using someone else's character.

This competition is in the Fiction and Lore Bin. Participating in a competition in this bin for the first time awards 3 points from participation. Personnel Review and Keeping Tabs also in this bin.
