Competition: Dressed for Adventure
In another life, in another world, instead of crossing the stars and blasting aliens, perhaps you were casting spells and slaying goblins. Without a lightsaber, what would you wield? Without your starship, how would you travel? How would you live in such a different world?
For this competition, you’ll be designing an alternate look for your character - a high fantasy adventurer type of look, to be specific! Whether they’re the type to wear heavy armor with a sword and shield, or hooded robes with a staff and a spell book, is up to you! If your character is an alien, feel free to maintain their original lineage, but you are absolutely welcome to depict your character as some manner of fantasy species as well. Any sort of magic items or artifacts that you can use to enhance the translation of your character from Star Wars to a fantasy theme is allowed and encouraged, so long as you leave behind any actual blasters and lightsabers.
Rules & Grading:
- Please submit your entry using one of the following file types: .jpg, .png. .gif.
- Grading will be done using the Dark Brotherhood Graphics Grading Rubric v.2.0, with the following adjustments: Adherence to Theme and Technique will both be adjusted to a value of 30%.
- Photo manipulation submissions are allowed, but favor will lean heavily toward drawn or painted submissions (whether physical or digital).
- Stick figures or any submissions without identifying features will be disqualified.
For anyone who needs inspiration, I’d be happy to suggest browsing the free Dungeons & Dragons compendium for ideas: https://www.dndbeyond.com/
Note that this is not a strictly D&D themed competition, but you are welcome to use this classic RPG (or any other high fantasy setting) as a basis for your creative needs!
