Stanzaic Pattern

A haiku consists of a triplet that is organized by syllables:

  • Stanza 1 must contain 5 syllables
  • Stanza 2 must contain 7 syllables
  • Stanza 3 must contain 5 syllables

Example:

a man treading rice.

Just a side note; haiku's are usually about nature or the nature of something. It's not just the rhyme scheme itself, but the purpose behind it, using few words to describe something simple or profound.
