Competition: [Event Long] Fiction - A Time To Kill

Background:

Once again facing the reality of open conflict with both the enemies of the Brotherhood and perhaps within the Brotherhood as well, the Council debates how to move forward. Not everyone agrees.

Prompt:

Option 1:

The Council is split, after hours of debate and a brief recess all have been called back to the Council chamber to conclude the matter. Despite Jedi being known for their calmness, tempers have flared over what to do and what is in the best interest of Odan-Urr. As an observing member of the debate, you bear witness to how the Council decided to join the way.

Option 2:

The word has gotten out that Odan-Urr is to join the war, yet not everyone is happy with the decision. You’ve met your sparring partner, but the Council’s decision is bothering them. In the midst of practice, their strikes have become potentially lethal as they voice their displeasure. Describe the encounter and what your character does to quell their fellow Odanite.

Competition Details:

Chose one of the options provided above. Write a fiction at least 500 words long from the point of view of your main character, alternate character, or NPCs. There is no maximum word count. Submissions must be made in .pdf, .doc, or .text format.

Scoring

The top three submissions will earn points as follows:

• 1st- 6 points
• 2nd- 5 points
• 3rd- 4 points
• All valid submissions will also receive two points for participation

In an effort to assist members to prepare for GJW XV, feedback will be provided to every entry. It’s highly encouraged that all competitors make use of the COU Proofreading Group.

Rules and Grading

• A Snapshot of all included player characters and NPCs should be included in the submission.
• Adult content is allowed, but please warn your graders, and don’t publish your submission if it exceeds a PG-13 rating.
• Grading will be based on the Voice Fiction Rubric.
