Competition: [Pro Bowl VII: Week Three] Fiction
Objective
It's Nar Shadda. The planet never sleeps, there's a casino on every corner, and crime and credit flow like water. These are just all a given.
So is the fact that somewhere, some gang is probably fighting. It might not even be the esteemed Hutt Cartel, but any of the hundreds that frequent the criminal utopia. Unfortunately for your character(s), they're about to get caught up in it.
Choose one (1) of the three (3) Objectives, and write a story featuring any of your characters with an active character sheet on file. You are free to include as many NPCs or additional characters you want, so long as your narrative centers or features one of your Main, Alternative, or Slotted NPC characters.
Option I: Running Guns
A shootout has erupted in the streets between two rival gangs, endangering bystanders and causing chaos. Your character gets caught in the crossfire, embroiled in a vicious and bloody assault. With blaster bolts flying, knives flashing, and even just downright brawls, how do they respond to the threat? Do they join the fray? Try to be a voice of reason and de-escalate? Attempt to tend to the wounded?
This option centers on being in the middle of the gang fight, but need not be combat oriented. Write your story about your character reacting to such carnage.
Objective II: Heist of Convenience
Whether or not it was planned beforehand, the outbreak of fighting has offered a unique opportunity for enrichment: with the gangs in the streets, nobody's back home guarding the loot. Your character tracks their way back to either gang's territory, be that one of their shop fronts, an indentured neighborhood, a speeder chop shop, or other similar base of operations. What they do there is up to you. Do they rob the place and run off with the riches? Destroy it? Investigate to report evidence to authorities — for whatever Nar Shadda has of those? Find themselves stuck against security systems?
Write your story about your character venturing into gang territory and what daring they get up to there.
Option III: High Value Target
With so much chaos, bystanders are bound to be at risk, and hostage situations are just another possibility. Your character has either themselves been taken hostage, or has a chance to rescue a civilian, teammate, or high value target who has been captured.
For this prompt, a rescue is the main theme, whether it be altruistic, opportunistic, or desperate. Write your story about the gang's hostage and what happens to them.
