MAY I introduce myself? [Co-op Fiction]

In a Galaxy full of beings with far greater powers, many young upstarts take their first steps into the void, some are lucky and able to stand on their own two legs, while others have great teachers, companions, and compatriots to help guide them through the trial of identity and finding themselves. Others must learn who they are alone, struggling with agoraphobia and a sea of choices, unsure of where their opportunities lie, and where they may alight.

Our goal is to foster those we can towards the Light, whether in teachings of the Praxeum or in opportunities alongside Odan-Urr, we strive to bring the lost into the fold and make the path forward just a little less empty.

Objective:

The Objective of this exercise will be to group up in teams of 2-3 and explore, develop, and build on the foundations of our newest members. This exercise is primarily driven towards helping those of us who have not yet reached the Equite Ranks develop and understand their characters, the fictional setting, and the general grading structure behind competitions.

  • Teams should consist of 1 Equite or Above member and 1 to 2 Journeyman or Below.
  • Teams shall select one of the three provided prompts to explore.
  • Each team member should submit at least 500 words to their combined entry.
  • Please be prepared to teach and explain the ins and outs of our setting, and remember to utilize the Shadow Academy and DJB Wiki.

The Prompts:

The key element of each of these prompts is that they connect the Eldest member of The Clan with our newer members in some way, through a defining event in their initiation into the Brotherhood, whether the connection is ultimately tangible between characters, or if it simply serves to establish more of who the characters are will be decided through your narrative.

  • Rite of Passage: A major milestone comes to pass, whether the building of their first lightsaber, soldiers learning to assemble and disassemble their weapon for the first time, or an event with deeper meaning. These events hold their own distinct importance and form a major part of who we become.
  • The Wanderer: Some characters come to us from the fringes, outside of The Light, seeking redemption, meaning, or purpose. Others are just lost and looking for a place to belong and have yet to find it. From your individual perspectives write a narrative forging a connection between your "strangers passing on a train" and how they end up in Kiast.
  • The Enlisted: Not every member of Odan-Urr is a Jedi or Force Sensitive, and many serve in our auxiliary, the Vatali Royal Guard, Armed Forces, or as part of our Mandalorian Clan, the Okami. These forces provide the core strength of the Clan, and the more exceptional members are often taken under the wing of their commanding officers.

Grading:

  • Entries will be graded as per the Fiction Grading Rubric 3.0
  • Entries should be uploaded in .pdf format, with the word count of individual members annotated at the end of the submission.
  • A link to the Google Document with individual users' text highlighted or separately (clearly) colored and denoted needs to be submitted alongside, in the submission text box.
