Competition: [OPZ] Week 3 - Risk Assessment

Finished
[OPZ] Week 3 - Risk Assessment

While exploring the House bases under renovations, you have been tasked with performing a risk assessment of one base. These locations are highly valuable to the Ascendant Clan and its Houses as a whole so it is vitally important that you provide a report on their current offensive and defensive capabilities. While performing the assessment, you also need to recommend at least two changes to the current setup.

Using information from the Clan and House wiki articles as well as the Clan Possessions page, draft an initial risk assessment for one of the Clan’s House bases. You do not need to be in a specific House to assess a specific base. Members of House Tyranus can assess Ice Station Zerek and members of House Ventress can assess Fort Dooku. Your entry should include a strategic analysis of current systems and provide recommendations for future systems. The existing information is there to help you use your imagination and create new ideas.

Grading will be based on the accuracy and completeness of the assessment as well as the creativity of the recommended changes. A minimum of two recommended changes should be included. Any fewer will result in a participation only grading. If your entries include content that is not PG-13, please uncheck the box allowing people to view your submission after the competition has been judged.

Risk Assesment of Ice Station Zerek

The following is a report on the operational capabilities of Ice Station Zerek. From a tactical defensive standpoint the base is rather secure. It has a very strong and secure defensive shield that is all but impervious to attack from orbit or the surface. Its defensive weaponry is easily capable of defensive the base from anything up to and including a few large Battleship, or Dreadnaught class capital ships.

The weapons emplacements include DF.12 Turrets, Bp.5 AA Turrets, XX-10 Turbolaser systems, and a single LNR Series I Systemary Laser Battery. The base also hosts a full combined arms battalion of the Ascendant Legion, along with a reinforced company worth of specialized infantry. T-47 air speeders can provide additional, in atmosphere air support.

The inspection did reveal a few points of concern.

The continual handling of coaxium, though considered safe and with various redundant safety measures will be an ongoing source of extreme risk. Additional explosion proof bulkheads, blast doors and isolation equipment is recommended.

Also during the inspection we noticed that the armour and many of the vehicles used by the battalion assigned to defend the station are parked in a large communal motor pool. We recommend spreading these vehicles out, as currently any enemy woo is able to bring down the shields would only need to land one lucky hit on that assembly yard and the battalions vehicles could be destroyed early on in an engagement.
