Competition: Sithmas Tale

The Sith Empress descends from her obsidian throne to bestow "gifts" upon her vast empire. Some receive coveted treasures such as power, fortune, or luxuries beyond imagination. Others open their packages only to find far darker surprises. Tasks of ruthless loyalty, cursed relics, or subtle punishments wrapped up in a pretty package for example.

This year, rumors swirl that the Empress is in a dangerously mischievous mood. Will your gift be a miraculous boon or a beautifully wrapped warning? Your name appears on her personal delivery list. In your own words, write a story about what happens when your character receives their gift and the events that unfold afterward.

• Entries must be a minimum of 500 words. There is no maximum.

Entries will be graded using the Voice Fiction Rubric
