It's the New Year, which means new beginnings, new resolutions, new goals for your character. No matter what it is, it's something NEW. That's exactly what I want to know about your character. Write a poem about what is NEW that your character wants to discover, a path they want to explore (whether that be something about themselves or simply some way they want to progress), or even something in general that is new to your character (be that getting a pet, a ship, or even a leadership position).

Rules

• Submit your poem in the text box only. Anything else and Google Doc links will be DQ'ed.
  
• Judgement will be based on Syntax (Spelling/Grammar), Creativity, Humor, and how well your poem sticks to its own rules/structure based on the type you choose. Bonus for clever titles ;)
• Any poem type can be used, from Sonnet to Haiku, from Limerick to Diamante.
  
• Special rule for the Haiku poems, it must be at least 3 stanza's long. Anything shorter than that will only count toward participation. I don't want to be comparing a 1 stanza Haiku to any of the longer poem types.
  
• Please specify what type of poem format you're using at either the top or bottom of the poem.
  
• No AI created.
  
• If there's any doubt that it's not PG, check the box.
  

Scoring

Participating in competitions awards points towards the overall event following the scoring breakdown below.

1st place: 6 points
2nd place: 5 points
3rd place: 4 points
4th place: 3 points
5th place: 2 points
Participation: 1 point

In the event of a tie, placements will be determined based on the number of overall entries, followed by first place finishes, then second places if necessary and so on.
