The Taldryan Republic has begun to take a more isolationist approach to the galaxy of late, turning its gaze inward toward a myriad of once-insignificant issues that have boiled over into serious concern. Pirate factions, organized crime rackets, shadowy threats, and mysterious rumors abound across the various territories of the Republic. Read about them here.
Choose from one of the prompts below, each centering on a different Taldryan location, and write a story featuring one of your sheeted characters:
Ostara:
The same foreboding and ominous visions of Ostara that crept into Supreme Chancellor Ood Bnar’s mind have come to you as well. Something is calling you there. The ion storms have cleared enough to reveal a changed world, bathed in monochromatic light and dotted with mysterious villages and dark castles. Ignoring any authorization requirements, you take a ship and supplies and head for the moon, determined to find the source of the visions.
Chyron:
Life is flourishing on Chyron, figuratively and literally. The population continues to rise as green flora overtake the dull gray of ferrocrete. The people are happy, businesses are booming, and there isn’t much to complain about; but when an anonymous tip arrives at the OSI about gangs abusing the Trial By Combat system, forcing innocent people into expensive or dangerous matches, you were dispatched to the moon. Your task: go undercover and infiltrate one of these gangs, dismantle their operation, and expose the racket publically to prevent others from following in their footsteps.
Elysia:
Governor Narman Losa has made an important discovery: beneath the ice on Elysia there is a source of raw Kyber crystals, ripe for harvest by the Republic. After verifying the rumor, he assigned you to assist Captain Pellogin in securing these valuable assets. Upon returning to the merchant who sold Narman the crystal for more information, you find the shop ransacked and the merchant gone; the only clue being a cracked and damaged energy cell left behind. Your task remains, though it just became significantly more difficult.
Interitus Cairn:
Lady Second Cassandra Oriana Taldrya has initiated contact with the pirate factions in their de-facto makeshift town of Undermine in the Southern Archipelago. Consisting of derelict ships tied together, makeshift docks between them, all within a massive cavernous chamber leading out to a beachfront town, a significant presence has grown there.
What was intended as peaceful discussions, however, quickly evolved after it was revealed that an outside third party has been influencing Pirate King Ovmol and funneling supplies and credits to his faction. When Cassandra refused to ally herself and Thanadris with that power, they turned on them. A warning message was able to be dispatched to Kasiya just in time, alerting them of the issue and the location of the town before her and her entourage fled deep into Undermine's caverns where further signals became impossible.
That message contained one word. Saber.

-Minimum word count is 750 words. No maximum!
-Your submission should center on one of your sheeted characters, and include a snapshot for that character, though you are welcome to bring in additional characters as well.
