Competition: March - Burden

Heavy Burdens

Your character traveled and ended up in a mysterious town with a heavy fog. As hours pass, things get worse and you realized the little pieces you had been finding became one whole piece of your past that your mind subconsciously or consciously had been burden with. The monsters emerged and they all portrayed some kind of symbolism of the burden.

Examples:

• A monster you cannot see but can hear the clanging of keys - abandoned a home
• Monster has various familiar shapes of those you lost and wore the uniform of your fallen comrades
• A monster with a wedding ring as a collar that's too tight and it makes wheezing sounds - regret for marrying and now neither of you are happy
• Monster with a broken Mandalorian Helmet - dishonor to your Mandalorian Clan

Additionally:

If your character isn't the type to travel, this can also be a simulator. Or just a... really... bad dream.

Rules and Info

• Entries must be submitted as a static file (e.g. .pdf, .txt, .docx) or using the submission box on the Brotherhood website. Google Docs links and other ‘live’ documents that can be edited after submission will be ineligible for placement.
• If your entry is not PG-13, please make sure to hide your entry by unchecking the “Allow people to view your submission after the competition has been judged” box Entries must be a minimum of 500 words. Any entries that are under 500 words will be ineligible for placement.
• Your story must be centered on your main character, one of your alternative characters, or a DJBWikipedia NPC. Wikipedia NPCs.
• This competition will award up to four (4) bonus Clusters of Ice at a rate of 1 per 500 words, in addition to the normal clusters awarded for fiction competitions
