Rebirth of the Ascendant Legion
______________________________________________________________________________

Calvo, a maroon skinned elomin, paced back and forth in the desert of Korriban. Plagueis was broken, the sith having destroyed the Clan. Calvo’s amber eyes scanned the soldiers next to him. These people were all that is left of the Ascendant Legion he knew. These were the members of his personal squad. The rest of the Ascendant Legion was working with the Sith.
Standing at two meters tall the white Hk-76 looked like a simple killing machine, yet this one had developed a sentient mind somehow, and was loyal to Calvo, to the death. Calvo did not understand this however, and viewed the droid as a liability.
Standing to the right of the Hk, was the trandoshan Rek’lia. Her grey scales contrasted with her pink armor, an odd choice in Calvo’s opinion, and she had a scar running down the left side of her face. Calvo knew she was loyal to him at least. She was the only Ravager among the group, and was the best soldier among them.
To the Left of the Hk unit was Zensheal, a red skinned twi’lek. Calvo was nearly useless without Zensheal, at least diplomatically. While Zensheal was a soldier, he also could speak sixteen different languages. Zensheal was another one who Calvo depended on, and trusted, but Calvo was not sure how much he could actually trust the Twi’lek.
To Zensheals left stood Borden, a zabrak explosives expert. Borden was an average soldier, and a loyal one, who proved himself to Calvo over and over again. Calvo did not want to not trust Borden with his life, as he had many times before.
To the right of Rek’lia was Helsha, a ryn soldier of average skill. Calvo looked at Helsha a second time. She was unique among them. The only wraith scout Calvo knew of and the only wraith in the group. Calvo was unsure of her loyalty as she was often quite, but he could not disregard the fact that she saved him from assassination by General Ranthe.
“Friends,” Calvo said. “The sith have destroyed plagueis and we have only one ship remaining. We have no major military force, no fleet, we have nothing. By siding with me you have turned your back on General Ranthe and the original Ascendant Legion. Something I wish never had to happen. Plagueis needs to rebuild its military, and everything else that we have. For this reason I called you here. I want to rebuild the Legion, and you are the only members left who are not against the Dark Jedi of Plagueis. We don’t know the loyalty of the thirty thousand or so ground troops on Korriban so we must start with us.”
The five soldiers seemed to stand taller. The Hk unit approached Calvo, and said, very much uncharacteristically, “Meatbag friend, I am overriding my programming to call you meatbag. From now on you are to be known to me by the title of your choice. If you are to rebuild the Ascendant Legion I will help you, and serve under you.” Turning towards the others it said “I, HK-76 support Calvo to be our leader, and the leader of the New Ascendant Legion. Trandoshan, I know you mentioned this as well. Any who argue can face me and the trandoshan on the field of battle today!”
Rek’lia nodded. “Calvo you are my superior, and my master. I agree with the HK and offer to support and train what military we will have.”
Borden and Zensheal looked at Calvo, a look Calvo understood to be loyalty, and then said simultaneously, “We support you aswell Calvo.”
Helsha, in one of her rare moments of talking said, “Calvo I didn’t save you from being killed for you to not rebuild the Legion. If you expected me not to join sides with you in this then you were a fool. Someone need to train recon for the army you are attempting to build. DO you have any Idea for ranks, general?”
Calvo, shocked at the support he was getting, especially from the HK, did not know how to respond. “I don’t wish to be a general Helsha,” he said after a minute of thinking. “I will step down from being the General of the Legion after we take back everything. The biggest problem is getting mobile. We only have one ship. The second biggest problem is the loyalty of the soldiers on korriban. Someone needs to test it. Gather them here and so forth. Other than that there are six of us, and forty six dark jedi, but that isn’t what we need to take on our foes. We need to recruit but we are stuck on Korriban.”
Again the Hk was the first to respond. “General Calvo, if I may offer a suggestion, we could always try to get off the planet. You have a contact on Fakir, and made some friends on Onderon last time you were there. Plus Serenia probably hasn’t heard from you, so getting to her home on Onderon would be best for you. Besides there you could most likely find some allies, maybe a few of the Onderon militia would like to join us.”
“Or,” said Rek’lia, “We could contact Serenia to ask around but remain quiet about it and hide who she is. Calvos contact on Fakir could do the same. Zensheal and Helsha could scout around Korriban for people to aid us. Hk and I could stay and guard Calvo. Borden could try to discover if we still have allies in the Ascendant Legion.”
Zensheal shook his head. “We still have ground forces throughout Korriban, we could get them, Rek’lia knows them well. The main issue is that General Ranthe has the rest of the legion, maybe forty thousand soldiers, under his control and works with the sith movement. We could get maybe a thousand or so soldiers from other planets for this rebuilding of the Ascendant Legion. Also Your contact on Fakir would be helpful, but leave Serenia out of this. She doesn’t need to know you may die. I have contact with a few captains in the Ascendant fleet, and could get a Nebula-class destroyer along with a dozen transports on our side if I pressed hard enough, but we will need more pressure. The soldiers we could gather would help. Also Calvo your contact on Fakir is a mechanic and ship builder right? Maybe he could gather a crew to build some transports or fighters for us. If we are to do this Rek’lia and Hk could gather our soldiers here, I will contact the ships, you contact your friend on Fakir, Borden has told me he knows of a group of mercenaries we could contact to get us mobile, Helsha could check the ports on Korriban to find any smugglers or freelance pilots. The major issue for this is gathering the funds and pressure.”
Calvo looked at the three who offered suggestions. “I will contact Herne to see about the ships. Gather everyone you can here tomorrow. I will announce my ascension and my plan to the troops who will come. Borden leave the mercenaries out of it for now, join Helsha in looking for freelance pilots. We will need them to get us to Hyperdyne Manufacturing headquarters to rebuild our fleet. Herne can build us a transport in maybe a week, so we need to approach Hyperdyne before then. this is all for today. Thank you my friends. this is much to ask of you. Meet me here tomorrow.”
______________________________________________________________________________
The next day Calvo was amazed to see thousands of soldiers march to him. Rek’lia and HK-76 lead the soldiers to Calvo. Zensheal gave them places to sit, while Helsha and Borden talked to some transporter pilots who landed their ships nearby.
Calvo approached the pilots first. There were three of them, each with their own Corellian YT-1300 transport. “Thank you for joining us. We need to reach out to Hyperdyne Manufacturing, to get us mobile again. Thank you for letting us transport you. Hyperdyne will pay you eight hundred credits each when we arrive.”
The pilots looked blankly at eachother, then nodded, having had worse deals before. “What is with the army?” one asked.
“They won’t becoming. They are my army, or hopefully will be. Our old general turned on us, and we intend to stop him and his allies from doing harm to anyone but the people he has already hurt.” Calvo replied almost completely honest.
The pilots nodded again, then went to turn off their engines.
Calvo and his five loyal soldiers approached the crowd of people who came.
“There are twenty thousand of them,” Zensheal said. “About 2,000 wraiths 6,000 ravagers, the rest are all subjugates. We have two thirds of the forces here who respect you enough to come. Some expect you to command them for the rest of their lives, but those are just the ravagers.”
“Thank you Zensheal,” Calvo said, amazed by the number of soldiers who came to his call. Looking over the crowd, he approached them and started his speech.
“Thank you all for coming to my call to arms. This has been a tough time for Clan Plagueis. We lost all of our bases, and find ourselves with only one ship. Tomorrow Zensheal and I shall go to Hyperdyne Manufacturing with twenty two of you, selected at random. This is to get the ships we need to become mobile. We shall soon move against the Sith movement that took over, and against the traitorous General Ranthe. I have reached out to the Planet Fakir for aid from a ship builder I know, and he assured me that he will get some ship upgrades from him. If you decide to follow me into this battle, I shall be the General of the Ascendant Legion until we have reconquered what we lost. I will then step down and appoint someone else to the position of General, unless you chose to have me and the leaders of Clan Plagueis allow it. This is not for those who are not loyal to Plagueis. This shall be the Rebirth of the Ascendant Legion, and may it be the day fear comes to our enemies.”
Calvo looked around to see that the crowd diminished by what appeared to be ten percent of what it originally was. “Zensheal count the men for me please, I will contact Herne now. When I get back let me know how many we have. Then contact Hyperdyne manufacturing and let them know we are coming tomorrow, and Plagueis needs a fleet. After we have Hyperdyne, please contact hose you know so we can get the few ships we can.”
“Yes Calvo,” Zensheal said.
Calvo turned and left, entering a tent with a holocommunicator. Turning it on, he called his friend Herne. A besalisk appeared in the image. “Hello Herne,” Calvo said. “I need you to build me a transport, maybe two. Preferably one that could carry a group of fifty soldiers. Plagueis has been pushed to the limit, and we need some ships. I figured while we will be getting Hyperdyne on our side, i would like some ships with your personal touch.”
The besalisk laughed. “Of course Calvo. It will take about a week pership. I’m thinking two Lambda-class T-4a shuttles. They can only hold twenty or so passengers but since you will be driving into battle with these things, yes I know you that well, It may be easier to have something more agile.”
Calvo looked at his old friend. “Thank you Herne. How much will it be?”
Herne again laughed. “For you no charge. I have plenty of credits.”
“Thank you Herne,” Calvo said. “This may be the last time I talk to you, and…”
“Last time?!”Herne exclaimed. “You’ll make it. I know that about you. It should be easy enough for you. You have troops obviously, so you will live.”
The hologram shut off. Calvo tuned from the screen, and left the tent running into Zensheal.
“19000 soldiers remain. We lost 1000, but considering the turn out this is a good start to rebuilding. I’ll message Hyperdyne, and Plagueis leadership. They need to know what we are doing.” Zensheal said.
Calvo nodded. The day passed, and Calvo trained with the soldier who came. I’m rebuilding the largest facet of the Plagueis military. This is too much for me. Hyperdyne should agree with us. If not we are left with two small ships with enough room to move maybe fifty people. This isn’t going to work.
The next day Calvo woke to find Zensheal and a group of five wraiths, ten ravagers, and seven subjugates. The sent off in the freelance ships without a word. The journey to Hyperdyne headquarters was wordless, and when they finally arrived, Calvo and Zensheal lead the squadron of soldiers into the facility. They entered wordlessly and were lead to the head of Hyperdyne Manufacturing.
“Teek Amavia. I am Calvo of Clan Plagueis. We need a new fleet. We expect Hyperdyne to supply based on our previous dealings.” Calvo stated trying to be diplomatic.
“Really?” stated Teek. “It seems like you Plagueis soldiers are coming and begging for my assistance. You may have raised me to this point, but I don’t care about that. Get out of my sight.”
Calvo was shocked, he thought Vivakus had her under his control. “If you will not comply we will simply take over.” Calvo stated, the soldiers lifting their rifles.
“You and these twenty so fools? There are over a hundred security officers here. YOu would all be killed.” Teek responded.
“I am a Dark Jedi,” Calvo threatened. “10 of these soldiers are Ravagers. You and your security don’t stand a chance.” Turning to his men, he stated, “Kill this fool.”
“Wait… we can make a deal…” Teek stated. “I thought that this was a test from Vivakus. For eight thousand credits I will build you a Nebula-class…”
Teek slumped over, shot in the chest four times. Calvo opened the door to the room. Looking at a human engineer standing by the door.
“You there,” Calvo said. “You have been promoted. You run this place now. You have the backing of Clan Plagueis. We need a fleet. Preferably some Nebula-class destroyers, several gunships, and many fighters. I don’t care what we have, but get us a fleet!”
“Yes sir,” the human said. The man ran over to the desk with the dead Teek in it. Shoving Teek’s corpse aside, he said “Hello security and workers. Plagueis has taken the factory under its control once more. Teek no longer runs this place, I do. Start build Plagueis a fleet. Clan Plagueis backs me on this order. I want Two Nebua-class destroyers completed by the end of these next three days. Hurry up and get to work.”
Calvo looked at Zensheal. “Contact Vivakus. Tell him that Hyperdyne has new management.”
Zensheal looked at Calvo with shock. “That was murder. I know we need the fleet but that was unlike you. You have always given your enemies chances. That reminded me of some things Darth Vader had done. Teek was just trying to make money…”
Calvo’s look of shame shut Zensheal up. “We need the fleet. Ranthe knows about Serenia, Taysar, and Tevarias. I don’t want to give him any more time than possible. He knows I will fight against him, and odds are he will strike the person I love before I can get there. Teek was being a fool. i regret killing him, but somethings have to be done.”
Zensheal nodded. “I’m guessing once we reclaim all of our lost bases, you're going to go to Serenia. Are you still going to propose to her?”
Calvo only nodded. Turning from his soldiers toward the human who was frantically at work, he said “There are three pilots who brought us here. Make sure they get paid 800 credits each. Plagueis will pay you for your time about 10,000 credits per nebula-class and 6,000 credits per fighter. Vivakus will be in contact with you within a week or two. I’m leaving these men here, and will send more next week. The Twi’lek and I will be leaving. Men, if there are any threats of trying to drive us out, kill the traitors.”
The soldiers nodded, and moved off to the security room. Calvo and Zensheal once again had a wordless ride back. When they arrived back to the remained of the troops, Calvo and Zensheal brought the remaining soldiers to them, and sent a message to the captains Zensheal had in his contacts. All of the captains agreed to join, giving the New Ascendant Legion a Nebula-class destroyer and two dozen Sentinel-class landing crafts.
______________________________________________________________________________
Calvo approached the group of seven that stood planning out what to do.
Looking at each he tried to appear as calm as possible. “Masters… I have gotten some ships. By the end of this week we should have three Nebula -class star destroyers, two Lambda-class T-4a’s, and two dozen Sentinel-class Landing crafts.
Teylas, an anzati, looked at Calvo with contempt. “I received word from your soldier that Hyperdyne was under new management. You have used authority you don’t have twice. We had forces already, you split them! Then you have the gall to make an executive decision which you shouldn't ever do! You don't have any power here!”
The other leaders of Plagueis nodded in agreement.
Calvo did not back down however. “Teylas, I have the power you don’t! Killing me would mean losing over half the Ascendant Legion who have pledge loyalty to me. I made a choice because no one else was there to do it. Don’t lecture me on power, because I wish this to be over soon. I made a decision that got us ships cheaper than we should have. Now how about instead of stressing about this, you let me lead the Legion until the end of this. Otherwise, my part of the Legion will be separate from the part you control. I already was a captain in the Legion. I already have their trust. Get me the rest of the legion, and we shall have a army with no doubts of loyalty. You gave it to Ranthe once and he betrayed you. Its your decision.”
“It will be a vote," Teylas conceded. “Who among us believe this Jedi Hunter has the right to lead the Legion. And explain why.”
“He made the only decision he could. The person who died was not force sensitive so it doesn’t matter to me. Let him lead, but let him know he can’t lead the legion after this for a long time.” said Selika Roh.
“He is my apprentice. I think he is exercising his rights a bit much, but he has done well for the Clan so far.” stated Taranae Rhode.
“Calvo’s initiative has speed us along. With us on the move I can better protect… nevermind that. Calvo sped us along. Let him lead the legion for now,” stated Furios Morega.
“Calvo should not have made the decision and that is clear. He does not deserve to lead the legion since he does not know his place.” stated Dralin Fortea.
“I agree with Dralin. I will take the lead. I have spent my life studying Combat. I know more than Calvo, and unfortunately for this ambitious young elomin, we need experience.” said Callus Bo’Amar.

“It is undecided,” Calvo stated, “I have the loyalty of the men. Yes through the processes they have endured, they are loyal to Plagueis but out of everyone here, i am the only one who has been in the Legion. They see me as the Face of Plagueis. I would join them in the frontlines and risk life and limb with them. They see me as a commander with them in mind. So yes I am simply a better person for this job than anyone. I wish Callus to be the head tactician for this. I would only be acting general, then when we get everything back I will return to my position as captain. In addition Callus will be second in command and take over if I fails us. No, Callus will take over if My second fails. My second is Tevarias. He is also force sensitive. If I die he will take my place.”
Callus and Teylas looked at eachother. "Agreed," they said in unison. "But you will be in the front lines for every assault we lead."
Calvo simply nodded, getting what he wanted for the legion, and getting the recognition he needed to lead the legion for his own vendetta. Turning and leaving the leaders of Plagueis, he went out to face the legion.

______________________________________________________________________________

“We are the Ascendant Legion!” Calvo excalimed infront of the 30,000 soldiers. “The Sith thought they could defeat us, and had to leave us stranded on Korriban! We are getting a new fleet, and we shall prove to them we can raise up once again! We are the Ascendant Legion! We shall always rise up! I will Lead you all into battle with the traitors of the Legion! We are the victors, We are the Champions. The Sith will enjoy eternity in the vacum of space, for that is the only place they can run from us! We are the Ascendant Legion. Now I Know what this means. I am one of you. Most Dark Jedi see you all as simply soldiers. I see you as the best soldiers in existence. I will be in the frontlines with you, not hiding in the back. We are the legion!” Calvo ignited his saber, raising it over his head.

Most of the Legion cheered this speech on, the one who weren’t heering on the speech were cheering the fact that this elomin Dark Jedi was going to be in the front lines with them. They thought with The Dark Jedi on their side they could not lose.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Calvo entered a crumbling building and turned on a holo communicator. Then he made a call, and was surprised when it got through.

"Yesssss..."said the trandoshan on the other end, Tress'kar.

"Tress'kar. You don't know me, but you are honor bound to work for Plagueis. As Acting General of the Ascendant Legion I would like to place an order. I need 100 new soldiers. These ones will be put through the Ravager process. Send them to Korriban. I need them shortly. You will be paid appropriately." Calvo stated.

"On what Authority do you give these orders?" Tress'kar asked, trying to unnerve Calvo.

"I will find you and kill you if you don't. I have thirty thousand soldiers because of you. But I don't need threats. There is someone i must protect, and you are honor bound to aid Plagueis. Unless of course your word means nothing."Calvo said.

"100 soldiers it is."

Calvo then made a second call. This one to his friend Tevarias.
The bpfasshi picked up almost immideately.
¨I need you to take over for me.¨ Calvo stated.
¨Of coarse my friend." The Bpfasshi replied.

The next day, the Bpfasshi wearing the Plagueis Resurgent armor approached and stood by Calvo. Calvo looked at the legion. "This Bpfasshi is Tevarias. Due to unforseen circumstances I must stand down. He will take over in my stead."

Tevarias the Bpfasshi looked at the Legion and laughed. Igniting his yellow blade he put it in front of them. "You know my record. You know what I am. Ranthe thinks he can threaten Plagueis. He think he can threaten our ability to rise. We are Clan Plagueis. We are the Ascendant Legion. Let us rise up now and prove we are what we claim to be!"
