Competition: Week 3: Poetry

Finished
Week 3: Poetry

This is it, the final day, the eve of the end. The fight’s coming to a close. The fires are dying down, along with your enemies’ shallow breaths. Maybe even some of your comrades’. And you know, maybe not. Maybe you’ve made something out of all this mess. Maybe you’ve found a new ally or two yourself to share a quiet drink with, have a few laughs with.

So what say you? Have you lost? Have you gained? Have you changed? ...Or, perhaps, has nothing changed at all?

Write a poem, haiku, limerick, song, rap, or other piece of prose to convey your character’s final feelings on the strange alliance and brave new world he or she was brought into. Pieces should be at least three lines, but there is no minimum word count. Maximum 250 words. Submit your entries in any text or graphic format, so long as the poem itself is present, clear, and meets requirements. Grading will be based equally on a combination of the Voice fiction rubric and evaluation of presentation, creativity, and entertainment value.

ON NEW TYTHON
- Timeros

Darkness fell,
Higher than might, wiser than truth, older than time,
Upon New Tython.

Light rose,
Greater than love, stronger than death, purer than faith
From New Tython

Hatred burns. Peace is far yet unsought.

Hatred burns. Justice blazes. All the world's aflame as opposites collide.

The wind puts out the fire.

"Disillusionment"

What is not dark or light shall ever change,
And such crazed beings who still feel estranged
A soul that’s damaged, a mind that’s cracked
A Twi'lek's soul with madness wracked
With no real care as to black or to white,
and bored with the creeds of fight or flight
Through the Jedi, the Sith can see
the faults in both our sides
Yet still follows the Consul’s strides.
The light is too empty, the dark’s too complex
The shell of a woman sits down and reflects
No honor, no shame, no regrets.

Along with an Odan-Urr runt.
We killed our enemies,

There once was a mad Sith from Coruscant
Who wanted to choke his wife with croissant
She nag him all day long
Singing the same damn song
Time do what he want and leave nonchalant

There was a man from Arcona
Who though all Jedi were cyka.
When one flew through the sky,
Saving his life with a cry,
he points "Ooh a macaw!".

You may think that this story’s absurd
but there is more to the tale that I heard.
His family had been killed -
it was as the Jedi willed,
and it was only 'cause he was a nerd!

More, a man who knows nothing but pain
will have passion but no love to gain.
So with nothing to do
he tried gnawing his shoe
and woke, still hungry and mean.

There's nothing that will change him,
Least of all, his best friend named Tim.
He slashes and fights,
Pulverises and bites,
I just watch Star Wars with Pimm's.

***

When Odan-Urr called for Arcona
They started talking over the phone(a)
Odan-Urr told them there was pie
There was none, Alora lied,
Atyiru came 'n' offed the O'reen(a)

Shadow Lady gave the Togruta a glare,
With what seemed like an annoyed air,
She'd expected cake,
But there wasn't even one baked,
"C'mon, girl, I need tender loving care."

''Two Clans United''

Our two Clans united one day

When the O’reenians decided to stay

We dug them a ditch

And made them our bitch

To New Tython they’ll no longer stray
