Dedicated, unassuming, and behind the scenes. Our lone Light Side Master, aka Kalen, continues to perform and improve the Dark Brotherhood in a stealth like manner. Kalen has recently updated a host of items for the JST staff and improved multiple website functions. His work on these projects has allowed the resident code monkey and opportunity to focus on more....pressing matters (Possessions).

Kalen, thanks for still being there for us.

Primary reason

Battlelord Selika Roh di Plagia is one of this club's greatest competitors, advisers, and leaders.

Competitor: In the past year Selika has participated in 72 competitions, participated in 341 gaming events, earned 21 Nova/Crescents, and achieved 5728 Clusters of Earth (that CE total would place him #3 in our club's history). Those efforts have resulted in not only Selika's achievement, but also contributed toward Clan/House Plagueis' victories in DJB wide events. First and Second Hero Titles for Vendetta level events...in the same year....are nearly unheard of.

Adviser: Selika has served as a behind the scenes adviser on GM level projects for the past year. This includes the creation of new Wiki Articles for historic DB personalities, the updating of GM projects and sneaky fiction retcon, canon fleet work, and work on the new Dark Brotherhood system tied to our upcoming Meta Game. This work has all been accomplished with no expectation of reward.

Leader: Selika has served as QUA (six months), Wiki Tribune (3 months), Magistrate to the Herald (2 months), and now PCON. He is an invaluable asset to other leaders, to our members, and to the DB as a whole.

Thanks for your great work and consistent dedication to the club.

Warlord Montresor's performance over the past year is summarized in one simple sentence. He has been imperative to the Justicar and the Grand Master and shaped our decisions on policy matters that have impacted the entire Dark Jedi Brotherhood. Monty's ability to see a flaw within our club, identify a solution for that flaw, and create a new DJB system is without equal on our current staff.

In a short amount of time serving as the Left Hand of Justice; Monty defended multiple members (and succeeded more often than not), identified flaws in our judicial system (removing disruptive member policy and covenant flaws), provided feedback and direct input to the Covenant 2015 update, wrote summaries and guides for the CoJ process (LHoJ guide and Probation Guide), and conducted an independent review of nearly all COJ matters. In a short amount of time Monty went from the Do Work Son/O-H-I-O guy to the most trusted adviser to the JST.

Outside of his JST duties, Montresor serves as the Praetor to the Grand Master where he currently sits on the small team for every single major project in the Dark Brotherhood (not a couple, every single one). Monty takes his RL systems engineering degree and applies it to Dark Jedi Brotherhood projects and statistics and helps inform nearly every GM decision. Today, we will see his latest project reflecting promotions. This project will have a direct and immediate impact on our entire club. These are the things Monty does....and no one knows about them except for the small group of people he works for.

In terms of quite, selfless, and dedicated...Warlord Montresor is in select company in the history of the DJB.

Xen submitted the best independent review within the entire Club during this recent round of updates to the Grand Master. Carrying on a long standing Jac tradition, I am happy to award him a Dark Cross. Xen's reviews put forth multiple ideas that have caused the GM/DGM to pause and think about how they could be applied to improving our club. Thanks Xen, as I said in my email.....best IR ever.

The Dark Jedi Brotherhood is blessed with a membership that goes above and beyond in their efforts to improve the club, but very few of our members have ever taken the time (IRL) to ask an actual Star Wars "celebrity" to sign an autograph on behalf of the club. Actions like these provide an invaluable amount of publicity and generate a buzz around our club. Fortunately, Seraphol, aka DS, is one of these members who cares about our club and strives to do things that will help our community outreach/improvement. Recently DS took time out of his own schedule at DCon and engaged a Star Wars Rebel voice actor/tress on behalf of the club. This awesome little move resulted in a great photo and some great Facebook status updates. DS, we appreciate your hard work!

Primary reason

The Ruby Scepter is awarded to a select pool of Dark Jedi Brotherhood leaders who have demonstrated a consistent and long term ability to serve as a mentor. It is one of the rarest awards because of the simple subjective nature relating to the term "mentor." How exactly do we define a mentor or an individual who serves in a capacity above all of the other mentors in the club? I think we can take a look at the current Deputy Grand Master and provide an example.

Dark Prophet Telaris "Mav" Taldrya Cantor provides advice, guidance, and direction to his friends, our positioned club leadership, and the Dark Council. Mav accomplishes this in a multitude of ways, but none more important than his ability to set the example for what our senior club leaders should act like. Mav is a is a steady-state operator who provides consistency, normalcy, and a calm head in a digital age where those things are sorely lacking. Mav is the calm in the center of many DB storms and his guidance shines through on countless occasions where emotion could ruin the day.

Mav is also the manager of our entire club's leadership. He is tasked with executing my crazy ideas and timelines, managing each and every Dark Council member, and ensuring that the Clans are operating in a manner that benefits the club. He accomplishes this through constant communication, unwavering dedication, and a consistency that is uncommon among our members.

Personally, Mav is also one of the few members in our club that provides guidance and advice to both the JST and Grand Master. Jac and I are not always the easiest individuals to sway when it comes to decision making, but Mav has had an uncanny ability to help both of us see options that are not only better for our positions within the club, but for the club as a whole.

So, back to the original question. What does a consistent and long term mentor deserving of the RS look like? It looks like a guy who advises the entire club leadership, executes the Grand Master's vision, and guides the Dark Council on 20 high level projects simultaneously. It looks like a guy who has the ability to influence the GM/JST/DC/Club Leaders towards making our club a better place. It looks like Mav :p

I once had a fury panda tell me that we don't award medals for someone doing their job. Especially medals for Jac. I've never been one to listen to advice from Pandas.

The Justicar is the most important position in the Dark Brotherhood. He is the moral voice and compass that is tasked with providing oversight to the Grand Master and our entire club. Jac is that compass.

I asked Jac to return from retirement and revitalize and modernize the office of the Justicar. Jac took on that challenge by clearing one of the largest case loads in our club's history, rewriting unfair and inaccurate policies (disruptive members), and updating our entire Dark Covenant (which I have in my possession for review). Jac selected two senior advisers (Halc and Monty) and tasked them with conducting a complete and independent review of what works right and what works wrong with the JST. This review has resulted in the creation of new manuals, new policies, and new documents that will not only help guide Jac's future decisions, but also guide our future JSTs.

Jac does his job. He does it better than nearly all of us. For this, I am happy to award him his second AK.

Kz'set, aka Arden, recently provided a thorough and well designed document that provided insight on future DB storytelling and plot design. Arden's "counter-point" provided the GM and others a different point of view that will undoubtedly create a better overall fiction product for the DJB. Arden submitted this document with no expectation of award, but only a desire to improve our club. Actions like this deserve recognition and awards. Thanks Arden for taking the time to help us make the DB a better place.
