Sven Rawioni has been hard at work within Arcona through his time as QUA and beyond. Through this effort he has reached the goal of Amethyst Kukri.

Envoy Zuza Lottson, 2024-01-15 23:26:45 UTC
Additional reasons

Since his last award, Sven has done... a lot. So lets go through it, yeah?

He has completed 96 Comps (78 if you aren't counting containers), 60 gaming activities, 966 words of fiction (313 of those being roleplay), gathered 26 total crescents (5 of those being with a diamond star, EIGHT of those being with a ruby star), 49 clusters of graphite, and an overall astounding amount of 190 Clusters of Fire and 262 Clusters of Earth.

He was granted 11 seals of Transcendence for his performance in the war, in which he completed a ridiculous amount of competitions. He was also awarded a Seal of Loyalty for his service to Arcona-- one of the three given this award last May the 5th in the clan.

To add to all of that, last year Sven lead House Galeres for eight months as our Quaestor, crafting storylines and leading us through the war with the Children of Mortis. He ran several house events and tried to create an enticing plotline for everyone participating. He outlined a new race and extended the DJB lore with some worldbuilding of his own.

He served as Praetor to the Herald till Jan. 7th of this year, creating/modifying guidelines and improving the member experience for the Shroud Syndicate through his tenure. During that tenure as Magistrate to the herald, he also-- rolls out list -- completed the graphics for 5 different custom weapons, two war banners, as well as completing the graphics for Arcona's GJW robes and accessory. (Eeyyy, vibroshovel.)

His activity speaks volumes, shouting almost. Thank you for your service and congrats on the Amethyst Kukri. It is well deserved.

The Red Paw'ed one himself. Archian is a bundle of feathers, fur, claws and tails but that chaos doesn't stop him. Tali can speak far better to his term as Aedile and overall proficiencies as a leader so I will just stick to the numbers on this one.

In his 8 months as Aedile, Archian ran a total of 12 competitions, only 1 of which as a co-organiser. Not only that but since his last award Archian participated in a total of 182 competitions, 22 of which were containers, working hard to pull in 35 placements, one of which being a Silver Nova from the most recent war; Of which I'd be remiss to not mention that he earned 10 Seals of Transcendence for his efforts. Not that competitions are the only thing Archian makes a point of being involved in, Dm-ing 1 roleplay with 19659 words, as well as being involved in 11 other roleplays, conjoining with his fictions to create a total of 26 fiction activities for an even greater total of 78 Clusters of Ice. His drawings have collected 60 Clusters of Graphite and across 8 gaming activities our favourite red floofer earned himself 35 Clusters of Earth.

This is a pawsome amount of activity and while I said I'd let Tali handle everything else I'd love to draw attention to one other figure that I usually don't bring up in recommendations. Archian has made 34 news post comments since his last medal. That might not seem like a huge deal but considering how often I catch myself missing news posts, this is a small but mighty show of dedication to keeping up with the club and his interest in it.

I'm very happy to be recommending this award to you Archian, make sure to keep it away from Tajga!

Additional reasons

What is the most important quality in a DJB member?

I would argue it is dependability. When the going gets tough, when the inspiration wanes, and life encroaches, it’s truly the most dependable of members who remain active and rise above.

Archian ended his term as Aedile in September 2023, having served ten months in the position, to focus on his family. The timing was tumultuous, in the middle of a Great Jedi War, and for a moment I had my doubts.

I needn’t have.

Not only did Archian continue his sterling work to inspire, goad, beg, borrow, steal, and lead our fellow Arconans into a victory with high participation rates, but he did so without missing a step. And if that wasn’t enough, during the recently tumultuous times in Arcona’s leadership, he stepped in, unbidden, to calm the spirits of a distraught membership, acting as an oasis of serenity amidst the roiling emotions.

I cannot stress enough that he acted as a leader, by example and in words, without prompting or request from active leadership. It just goes to show how dedicated and dependable of a member he truly is, pulling through without a second thought whenever Arcona’s needs are dire.

During his service as Aedile, he displayed similar characteristics, going about his duties of diligent data collection and report writing to such an extent that I barely needed to focus on more than the fictional side of things. And when schedules transpired against my timely submission of a report, I could count on Archian to finish reports on my behalf and get them posted for our membership—including the frustrating Markdown error hunting that is always a delightful end-mile chore when you think you’ve got the report all sorted.

In planning, he acted as a sound sounding board, providing equal measure of caution from over-exerting the membership with too many back-to-back Events, as well as an enthusiastic promoter of ideas during the “Paladins Arc” that saw Republic lawmen seek to bring Port Ol’val under some semblance of Galactic rule of law. I could always count on him to co-run competitions and to find suitable artwork, flash games, and other thematic additions to spice up the flavor of the arc’s competitions.

As a leader, and member, Archian has and continues to this day to exemplify positivity and enthusiasm—even if that enthusiasm tends to smell of Bantha and leave your clothes full of cat hair. He is a staple of our community and builds stories and relationships in roleplay with his wide array of characters, best exemplified in the absolutely massive roleplay he ran in August centered around his wildlife reserve that attracted a huge interest. Rarely have I seen so many people so concerned for saving animals from poachers, which only goes to show how he has left his furry pawprint in all our hearts. <3

For his invaluable and long-standing efforts as Aedile and beyond, I am honored to recommend our dependable zoologist Archian be awarded this curvy and purple cutter!

Dr. Bril Teg Arga has been a busy bee since his last award back in July. Participating in a WHOPPING 174 competitions (145 non-container), he hasn't been shy of going beyond participation. No, this *Bril*iant chap has earned himself crescents, 4 of the Diamond variety, 4 of Ruby, 3 Amethyst, 11 Sapphire, 8 Emerald, 4 Topaz and 1 Quartz star. That is 35 placements which considering those numbers include this years Vendetta, is damned impressive. Speaking of the war, Bril earned 16 Seals of Transendence, as well as a Silver and a Bronze Nova with his efforts.

Just to round off the numbers, across 23 gaming activites he has earned 2 Clusters of Fire and 271 clusters of earth. He also has 45 clusters of graphite under his belt and a massive 222 Clusters of Ice from 38 Fiction activities across the last several months. Never mind all that, but he even took to the books to secure that Doctor title, completeing 6 courses and 4 degrees.

I'll let Sivall speak to Bril's character, but cor blimey, do the numbers hold weight. Bril, you told me once that you wouldn't let hitting the higher ranks stop you and you have held to that word. Thank you, and keep it up.

Bril. Brilbro. Brilbot. Brilbo baggins. Oh my gods has it been an honor to be your Aedile and friend. I was sitting here wondering what the heck I was gonna say here because we did your Promo like.. what... two weeks ago? But I never have a shortage of words for a good friend, and you have grown since then. I don't know why I continue to be surprised at the rate you climb through rankings and awards but here we are.

I have the absolute joy of seeing you find yourself these last few weeks. We joined around the same time, and to see you zooming your way through everything is nothing short of inspirational. You always say I'm an inspiration to you, but I would argue that it's the reverse. I am always trying to match the quality and quantity of amazing things you put out into this community, silently following behind you as 'Lora'.

Not only do you guide this community with laughter, good jokes, and good vibes-- but you are always willing to reach out a helping hand or stand up for anyone who needs it, even when no one else will. We need more people like that, need more people like you here in the Brotherhood. It is not often that someone will stand up for a stranger and speak for them, but that has always been you.

Bril Teg Arga, you are an integral part of Arcona. You blaze brightly, bravely, and unwaveringly. We are so proud to see you grow, and I can only hope that I can match or live up to the potential you've shown us is possible in anyone. You deserve this AK, and you'll deserve every other award in your future.

See you at your next milestone, botmun'i.

Aedile Zosi'val'ria, 2024-01-14 21:49:00 UTC

Bril, if socializing had a name, I remember when I first met this absolute force of nature I was still in Arcona and he was in Plagueis. He was a Brilliant ray of activity, constantly chatting, and bridging the gap between clans. He introduced new storylines and taught several of my recruits that inter-clan storylines and friendships were very, very, possible to achieve. His rise through the ranks has been meteoric and this award is a significant point towards such. I'm glad to have been along for the ride, and to continue working alongside him, even after I've transitioned into my role as Pecan for COU, knowing his characters have a deep tie to the Light Side, and knowing we'll see plenty of him hanging around Kiast, and plenty of him banging around our chats.

Congratulations, and well received, Bril!

Proconsul Wulfram Armis, 2024-01-14 22:57:40 UTC

I’m starting to identify certain people in my House for whom it feels I’m writing recommendations on a weekly basis. Bril is one of these. He’s been proving himself a powerhouse of activity, a diligent and sociable member who has done more than enough to earn themselves this medal. I’ll let the others give the details but my god man, do you sleep? Always ready to jump into conversation with a joke, a laugh, or an insightful comment, Bril is an integral and indispensable part of modern day Galeres.

I heard a proverb of sorts today, “writing like an Arconan Aedile” in reference to Sagitta due to her wordcount. You’re well on your way towards aiding in the creation of another proverb: “RPing like an Arconan.” Since your last medal, you’ve been a participant in 20 RP sessions, writing over 68.000 words. Ontop of that, you found the time to organize 10 RP sessions and write almost 30.000 words there as well.

Enjoy this sharp piece of cutlery!

Just with Ood's Quaestor work this year, there is roots laid down. He entered Galeres, the House in something of a state fictionally and in reality, and took it up like he'd been here before and knew exactly the route to take. He has spent hours past his bedtime (much to our chargin) story working to bring Galeres into a fresh life, including the big decisions on what paths to follow and how to do them. He also has been pushing to run competitions as often as he can, currently running an event for the House where a great disaster has struck and the members of our militant house must act in disaster relief. He has run a total of 19 competitions just in this short time since his return and there is NO shortage of plans on the horizon. This also includes weekly checks of members to see and award people and a overall enthusiastically large push to breathe a breath of fresh air into Galeres in the chats and one on one with older members.

But, onto the numbers. Since January last year, Odd has participated in 158 competitions (28 Container), 13 of which during the GJW this year, and earned 64 placements, with two of them being a Silver and a Bronze nova. This is a HUGE percentage of competitions won and a momumental effort. His efforts also include 13 fiction activities, scoring 27 Clusters of Ice, while also collecting 13 clusters of graphite, 7 SA exams and 9 Society rank ups. All of this while performing duties as the Right hand of Justice!

Frankly the energy that Ood has for the club after all of these years is inspirational. I can't count all the rings on this tree, but in the last 3 months as Galeres' Quaestor he has been a boon for us all. Mostly. Sometimes we need him to pause because he gets ahead of us in his rush. Of all the problems to have however, this is probably the best kind.

Treeguy, the oddest of oods, thank you for choosing me to be your Aedile, and thank you for all the time you've put into Arcona. That you came in swinging when you were hired speaks volumes.

We haven't had as much time to talk as we'd like, but all the same you've always been very courteous to me. It's always inspiring to see the older members sticking around, and shows that a person's time in the DB can be a thing of long-lasting friendships and laughs.

Here's to more time kicking butt and saving crashed space-yachts.

Aedile Zosi'val'ria, 2024-01-15 01:05:36 UTC

What can I say about our dude Ood? He's well-rooted throughout the community, serving the Chamber of Justice as the Right Hand, plotting to give life to House Galeres in the wake of the War, a war during which he bloomed, acting as an inspiration for others throughout the Clan, and acted as a beacon for me to point members of my, at the time, unit The Darjorran Marshals, afterward devising new plans to stimulate growth and sow new leadership training throughout Arcona as Quaestor. Though we did not always see eye-to-eye on how to operate during my tenure as BTL, at the end of the day, we worked together to figure out what best nourished the Arcona, as any good gardeners should.

Ood's work throughout The Brotherhood has consistently been for the betterment of the community and served well beyond himself.

Ever onward, Ood.

Zen was the sole author for Writing Dialogue. This worked out to 1920 words of course notes and an exam to functions as a mini writing workshop for members. The use of video from canon Star Wars media was ultimately Zen's idea, as he wanted to use the sequence from ANH for an exam question; hopefully he hasn't come to regret that after seeing his work sit in limbo for several weeks while Zuza and I figured out how to handle video content through a centralized SA account.

While he's not the SA's most prolific grader, Xen's courses tend to be a heavier lift than most exams. In particular, the Test of Wisdom is significantly more work to grade than your average SA exam, as Zen has to review an entire story--running several dozen pages in a few instances--and offer detailed feedback to the submitter. Then he has to review the whole thing when the member resubmits to assess their improvement. It's a step above and beyond what most other Professors or Docents have had to do over the years, but it's something Zen has taken on with gusto. I and the Brotherhood's writing community appreciate his work.

Zen is overdue for recognition of the fantastic work he does as P:Voice. Brilliant and thorough Zen is someone I know I can (and do constantly) lean on for the betterment of the entire fictional community of the club. Some of the quicker trackable numbers since last he was awarded for Voice Staff include 105 Sheet Approvals, 55 Remands Written, countless discussions on all the other processed sheets, and discussion on 9 new species options that were added (plus a few that weren’t).

His work as P:Voice also leaks into the madhouse that is Story Group, having given input on the fictional direction we’ve gone these last months. This includes helping direct the 6 chapters of Galactic Happenings (including updates for all of the factions) along with all the chapters of the most recent GJW. That's a lot of ground covered and a lot of my insane plotting to help steer right, and then correctly proof once written.

Project wise Zen has been invaluable on several fronts, far beyond the discussions of adding new species options. He helped look over the ACC Guide rewrite, aided in the process of removing the secondary skills for lightsabers and martial arts (along with their feats), and most importantly took point on one of the biggest CS changes we’ve seen in years, the edit of the Charismatic skills.

He was responsible for the general write-ups on the new skills added and the required edits for the skills that were split out. This means he handled the skill descriptions and the guideline of +0 to +5 skill ability on Charm, Stealth, Deception, and Intimidation. Then he also went through all of our feats, and species to gather them into what needed to be edits with the removed skills and new skills. He also generated several brand-new feats on top of that to help highlight the new skills we added.

Basically, this entire change happened because he took charge after some comments and discussion in Voice staff on Discord. He did the work and this awesome set of clearer and functional skills was able to go live for the members. Anything that involves changes to the CS system is a complicated process, and Zen handled the broad spectrum with apparent ease, and an excellent quality.

Congrats Zen, and thank you for your continued efforts (and willingness to put up with my insane shenanigans).

Lord Idris Adenn, 2024-01-13 20:42:46 UTC

Zen is a highly valued and esteemed member of Taldryan, especially when it comes to back-end planning despite not being a member of the summit.

He is one of my most trusted advisors, especially when it comes to military affairs both of Naval and Army origin.

In our last Fleet Revamp earlier last year, he was one of the chief architects in helping to draft and design it while minimizing weaknesses and maximizing opportunities to both stand against natural enemies, but also other clans when and if needed.

He also spent a considerable amount of time, nearly a month, helping us in our army revamp after the GJW as we devoted the entirety of our winnings towards that project as we had discussed the year prior.

In addition, he has been involved in our recent campaign developments; ensuring that the focus is wide enough that it benefits not just the force users our clan, or the army/miltary focused, but also the mercenary and alien types unaffiliated with the force/military which are a part of us.

Because of his constant focus on the betterment of Taldryan as a whole, despite not being on the summit, I am beyond proud to support this recommendation.

Congratulations General!

The man behind the scenes so to speak Raistlin tends to keep a low profile. That however doesn’t mean he is not an active and productive member of the Vizsla Summit. Since his last recognition Raist has participated in 62 competitions, 23 Gaming activities, and 2 Role Playing sessions. This has garnered him 8 Crescents, nearly 350 Clusters, and Seals of Transcendence. That is pretty active for a guy who works more than I do which is saying something.

On top of that he has been instrumental in my wiki projects the last 6 or so months. He has been heavily involved in creating the Korus Wiki Page with numerous sections being attributed to him personally. These include Raistlin's Respite, The Oasis, and The Bulwark. Additionally, he did all the planning and writing of the Nox Company Wiki page that was recently uploaded by me. Both of these were start from scratch ground up wiki pages with minimal guidance from me. Just an incredible effort to take up on his own voluntarily. The Nox Company just showed up in my inbox like some magical gift from the DB gods. It is nice to have people with that kind of drive and initiative on the summit. As someone who has done several of these wiki articles from scratch, I can attest to how much work and time goes into writing, formatting, and researching a wiki article. let alone two quality entries.

This doesn’t even include all the discussions and planning on implementing so many of our other changes such as the change over to Magistrate roles or introducing the various factions in and around Zsoldos. His contributions to creating lore for Vizsla have been substantial and well-developed. His advice is always well respected in the Summit Chat and I am happy to recommend Raistlin for this Amethyst Kukri!

It has been nearly 7 months since Kah'ri's last medal. In that time, Kah'ri has stepped up into a leadership role. In this position, he has been eager to learn, eager to execute, and eager to improve. Not only has he shown an eagerness for all of these things, he has done them.

Kah'ri has now been QUA for nearly 6 months, helping to lead CSP through a GJW along the way. IN this time he has participated in 109 competitions, stacks of crescents to boot, he's leveled up in societies 10 times, participated in 4 RPs as a participant and run one as the DM. Kah'ri has been involved on all fronts when it comes to member activity, but where he has really come to shine is as an emerging leader of Clan Scholae Palatinae.

If I need something done, Kah'ri is always the first to jump at the chance. Of the 15 competitions run during CSP's Sithmas event, Kah'ri supplied the concept for 7 of them. He routinely contributes, even if he is not running the event. During the Sithmas event, he completed in all the events while encouraging others to do so as well. Kah'ri is also instrumental in advertising the clan events. He has also personally reached out to our members with AWOL warnings and continues to show a unmatched dedication to his role.

Beyond the daily operations of being QUA, Kah'ri has also taken up a project of creating Renders of CSP's Headquarters. One of these renders is visible in my last report. Throughout the process of creating these pieces, Kah'ri has been receptive He has also created images for all of the CSP Artifacts, which can be found on the Wiki. Including several gifs for the Rajk Opal. I also got a a kick ass render of CSP's SARLAC Station from him. Throughout the process of these projects, Kah'ri has been nothing but receptive and responsive to criticism. He takes it well, focuses on how he can improve and then does so. I've been so impressed with this, I'll be putting him to work on a long backlog of images the Clan needs.

In addition to this project, Kah'ri has provided me with the swish new graphics for my Consul report. His work stands miles above anything I could make and he volunteered without question.

Kah'ri places improving the experience of our members above anything else and has grown every single day in his role as QUA. I am so greatful for his positive attitude, work ethic and drive. I cannot wait to see what else he has in store for us. Congratulations Kah'ri. Keep up the fantastic work!

Socorra is just a flat-out tornado of activity. Seemingly everywhere there is a competition to be done she is on it. Since the end of October. She has organized 39 competitions and she teamed up with another member to co-run 1 for a total of 40. That is 1 competition on an average of 1.5 days. She has also participated in another 54 competitions during that time. She has DM'ed 2 Role playing sessions and participated in another 14. Just truly impressive numbers especially for such a short period.

Socorra has been the Proconsul of Vizsla for a short time. However, her work both inside and outside is considerable. I will let Noobi elaborate more on her work for the Regent staff and such. Having worked with her on that staff for a while now I can see her dedication to making things for members and just how far-reaching that work is for the club in general. She dives into everything like her activity and it is fantastic to see her back in the brotherhood and succeeding at a high level.

Socorra has been hard at work in multiple areas of the club, including on the possessions and society development side of things. She spent weeks producing high quality imagery for the Envoy Corps, Antei Combat Centre, and Grand Master's Royal Guard possessions, with some of that art even making it into the dossier selector. She produced at least two dozen images total, marking a significant investment of her time and skills to bring new life back into the club's societies partly through new possessions.

It's been almost exactly a year since Zuza's last recognition for her work on the HM/SA staff, a period that neatly overlaps with her service as my Praetor. Although I discussed much of her work in her recent promotion, now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to quantify that in terms of XP.

Part of Zuza's job over the last year has been, as I put it in the promo rec, "Deputy Arch." She had to prepare to take on the HM role in case I was unavailable for any reason. Sometimes she got something to show for it, like the 36 exams she graded during this period or credit for running the Q4 Decathlon competitions. But usually it meant that she had to give up time that could have been spent gaming, writing, or doing anything at all that would've been more fun so that she could deal with continuity training. I have no idea how long she spent on this. I know simple tasks, like when I walked her through grading SA exams, were pretty quick: that was a 13 minute call in January. Other times it was more involved: when I gave her a full overview of staging SA courses, which includes preparing and uploading assets, creating the course on the site, creating the exam, and repeatedly previewing and tweaking everything, I know she sat patiently on the call for a little over an hour. But I don't know how long she spent looking through the style guide and building the template for the upcoming societies courses, or learning how to make course updates through the admin panel (which only she and Zen have done among current staffers), or handling the off-site issues tracker and bug report system (which only she's done), or learning how to update the Ruby script that governs degree progress.

Zuza also provided skills that I don't have. I knew the gifs for Comms 101 were outdated and needed to be replaced but I don't know how. So Zuza did it, and then she taught me how she did it. My only experience with video editing is a school project in 2005, so it fell to Zuza to create the video for Writing Dialogue. I made her track time on that one, so I know it was about two hours of harvesting clips, editing, and re-editing.

Since this summer, Zuza has officially been the point person for a lot of what is now Emissary work. Specifically, stalking our new joins and doing individual, private outreach to them. It was a natural evolution of the ad hoc new member engagement she'd been doing and the informal taskings I'd been giving her to poll newer members about the Essentials courses and other SA projects. She was the only person in the club working this as a primary duty before the Emissary position opened; now she's still doing it but she's at least part of a team.

I guess I should step back and acknowledge that a lot of people don't think that "chat" is work. Well, if it's not work, why is it so damn hard to get people to do it? At every level of this club, purposeful communication is critical for getting results. But it's a struggle to get people to go out and promote their competitions. It's a struggle to get supervisors to give their subordinates actual instructions or feedback. The CONs sit in their chat complaining that the DC doesn't talk to them while we sit in our chat complaining that the CONs don't talk to us. For years, it's been an uphill battle to get people to talk about the work their peers and subordinates are doing so they can get timely medals and promotions. I used to tell my junior summit to "do one thing and talk about it" and it was like pulling teeth. It's impossible to quantify the energy expenditure or impact of this, but the units where people do it are active and growing and the units where people are not doing it are not. So it's tempting to write off "Zuza talks to new people" as a charming personality quirk, but that's ripping her off. It was direct tasking from her boss that she faithfully executed for half a year. Recruiters, sales reps, pollsters, and others make a living doing the same thing. When Zuza was starting conversations with twenty-something Discord-authenticated new joins, getting into voice and video chat and gaming sessions with them, that was an intentional time investment in the future of this club and a mission so important it just got the first new DC position in six years.

Zuza, thank you for all your work over the past year. I look forward to seeing what you and Qormus can accomplish in the new office.

Over the past few months this Old Guard of Sadow has put forth an impressive stack of activity. Most recently he racked up seventy one points for Sadow during the Great Jedi War XVI: Transcendence. He participated in seven comp bins and placed in five GJW Comps. Those contributions led to CNS having the highest participation rate throughout the war! He has participated in over one hundred comps earning himself close to a hundred clusters along this trek.

Not only that, to further his DB education he took on courses at the Shadow Academy earning himself two degrees in Communications & Activities. Malik's commitment to our little Star Wars family is difficult to quantify in a manner commensurate with who he is. However that commitment is always on point and leading by example. He has been the BTL for Sapphire Squadron for nearly a year and under his leadership Sapphire witnessed an increase in activity from its members which helped bolster our participation rate for the War.

As one of our resident Old Guard, his council is both persuasive and impactful at all levels of the Clan. His experience and knowledge has contributed to multiple developments of Clan possessions, story arcs and the overall dynamics of the Clan. As a former member of the Club’s Star Chamber the Adept is a valuable member to have in and Clan.

It is with great pleasure to be a part of this award recommendation. This is just a small token of the Clan’s appreciation for everything you do. Congrats Sir and well deserved!

Additional reasons

Malik has been a steady hand in activity for a long while, leading from the front as a battleteam leader - a position that he only took on as a favor to the summit. He has served as a great example of what consistent activity can look like. On top of that, he's been a pretty vocal contributor behind the scenes as well, working closely with the rest of the summit to fine-tune plans, troubleshoot issues and help refine major changes as we work our way toward them. I think the last thing I had recommended for Malik was his elder promotion all those years ago, and I'm pleased to be in the position to add a bit to this sacramental. Thank you, Malik. Sorry that it's not 55 Dark Crosses, Malik, but I hope this works out for you all the same. ;)
