Service to the Brotherhood, through the ACC, can be achieved in three main positions apart from direct leadership; Judge, Trainer and ACCLive! Judge. Each of them has specific duties while, at the same time, maintaining a lot of similar aspects. A primary part of any position, and integral to the ACC staff itself, is interaction. The staff interacts, in one way or another, with the body of the Brotherhood on a daily basis. Whether opening a battle as a Judge, posting and commenting as a Trainer or sitting on IRC waiting for the next match as a Live! Judge, ‘face time’ with the membership is inevitable. Most staffers start green and have to wade through a lot of muck before truly being accepted by their peers who are not on staff. Others come from positions of leadership and fit right in with the operations of the Centre – but neither is any less skilled. Their job can be taxing, it can be boring, it can be exciting and it can be nerve racking – above all, it can be thankless. The Grand Cross of the Dark Side, an award for service to one’s Clan in areas meant to encourage competition and interaction between members, has been selected as an award appropriate in the ACC. It will often come with no less than 6 months active duty, a good rapport with the DB membership and an ability/work ethic that is often above reproach. <br> SW Brujah Tamalar is currently one of the most active Judges on staff. His battle ratings are sound and he is not quick to act in a matter that he is uncertain of. He has no ego about his position and, save one or two rare cases, I am given nothing but good feedback about him. For six months he has been consistent in his duties and risen beyond his primary duties to help with ACCLive! Despite the ACC’s Live! staff, SW Brujah can often be found running battles and even fighting one or two. In the ‘slow’ times of the holidays, school mid-terms etc. he is also one of the first to make sure that the queue is up to date and that nothing sits too long. ACCLive! is a hard platform to 'sell' but Live Judges spend hours on end in the channel, most times just waiting, nonetheless. We often forget the simple value of their presence and their willingness to just “be there”. When a battle does come their way, it's waiting again - ensuring the program runs smooth for the combatants and ensuring that glitches are corrected as fast as possible. Again, waiting and monitoring - so many jobs in the Brotherhood depend on that one, thankless act of servitude and those jobs can go eons without being rewarded. Lately, Live Judges have come and gone, but one individual has been persevering for over 5 months – DJK Uzbad Tamalar and it is time to thank him for it. As former Krath High Priestess, it seemed fitting (even during her tenure) that DA Telona Murrage be on the staff of the ACC. Almost every KHP, since the inception of the KCC/ACC, has had some role in the Centre and it’s operations. As a Trainer, Telona was responsible for countless Initiate qualifications and training sessions. Her direct style of commenting and her ability to work with what she is given make her an asset to the ACC in more ways than just “getting them through qual”. She is looked up to by the younglings of her order, and treats her position as a true ‘teacher’ of the platform. For 12 months Telona has played her role well. She might not be the one running hundreds of training battles at once or hundreds of qualifications, but she is definitely the one who consistently strives to ensure that no Initiate is left behind. While others might ‘give up’ here and there, Telona seems driven to the ‘lost causes’ most of the time. Apart from her ‘regular’ duties as a Trainer, Telona saw fit to wrangle her obligations as the KHP into the Centre with the creation of the KHP’s Armed Hostilities Hall. This hall was dedicated to monthly competitions open to the entirety of the Brotherhood and served to raise our activity level, and even our presence, amongst newer combatants. Beyond that, she is the key player in the re-creation of the ACC Initiate’s Course for the Shadow Academy, spearheading its updates and inclusion of new information. All in all, Telona is a rounded staff member, seeing the ACC as more than a ‘writing’ platform, but a tool for activity and fun for the whole of the Dark Brotherhood. I am honored to recommend her for a Grand Cross of the Dark Side which symbolizes her longevity of service, her encouragement of membership interaction and her dedication to this Brotherhood-wide platform. The days of the ACC ‘rush’ are gone and the numbers have dwindled to a dull roar. In these times, when ‘numbers’ don’t seem as impressive, we are forced to try and relay the aspects of ACC positions in ways that will make individuals ‘worthy’ of awards. All of what we do is behind the scenes; judging, training, opening battles, working on ACC improvements etc. and don’t really lend themselves to much in the way of outward and obvious displays of accomplishment. Suffice it to say, Initiates are still trained, battles are still judged, qualifications are still on-going and facets of the ACC are always being improved – and that is the daily grind of the ACC. With that, the most obvious trait that is possessed by a staff member is ‘extended service’ as the Steel Cross describes. Due to influences beyond the ACC, some staff members aren’t ‘rockets’ of activity when it comes to the extracurricular. They are merely content with doing their job. I am utterly thankful for those who stay straight, press on and make themselves the ‘work-horses’ and ‘grunts’ of the ACC. They lend their time when they can, and do well with what they take on, but often – I know they’ll be there just to do the ‘daily’ work. I can count on them, and that is a great accomplishment. For his extended service to the ACC, I recommend KE Nekura Manji Keibatsu for the Steel Cross.
