• Battlemaster Raken: The Sith Order honors cunning and subterfuge. It is in these arts that we may find our greatest warriors. Unlike many who boast and brag of their prowess, it is the true warriors who operate from the shadows. This is where we find the Praetor to the Grand Master, Raken. Raken has lived in the background quietly watching and recording every action of the Dark Brotherhood. With superb skill and knowledge he has crafted a detailed database on all those who call the Dark Brotherhood home. During the recent Great War with the Yuuzhan Vong, Raken advised and counseled the Grand Master on relations with the Clans and served as a liason. His attention to detail and skill at observation allowed a great portion of the Dark Council fleet to escape Antei unharmed.<br> <br> Raken’s knowledge, dedication, and skill have placed him above all others who hold the rank of Battlemaster. Raken has established a mark of excellence that will be the standard for all Great Wars to come. For Valor on the field of battle, I, Grand Master Sarin, award Battlemaster Raken the Emerald Dagger. <br>

There is a long line of great Taldryan Consuls, and I can say without a doubt in my mind that when all is said and done, Duga will rival Kir as the greatest. The amount of dedication that Duga has to his clan is extraordinary. He takes pride in all that he does. He works and strives to keep a standard of excellence. Duga is a selfless individual, every free thought and every free moment is "For Taldryan."<br> <br> I know very well the amount of work that I put in when I was Consul, and it pales in comparison to what Duga does. He is consistenly active in all channels of communication. He reaches out to not only help members, but to get to know them and become friends. He instills a pride in his membership for the clan, and trains them in the ways of Taldryan. Duga has not only upheld the tradition of excellence, but he has added to it.<br> <br> Duga's work with the GJW was nothing short of phenominal. It takes a strong will to get over 55% of a large clan to participate in a long and drawn out competition. He set goals for himself and he reached them; Taldryan came out victorious again. Duga also did things above and beyond what a normal leader would do. His tracking of member activity was amazing, and his contributions to the Dark Council over the past months have been invaluable. Duga has reached a level of service and dedication that I only with I could learn from.<br> <br> Duga has about him an air of greatness. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to work with him and getting to know him.<br> <br> Thank you, Duga, for all that you do.<br> <br> - GM Jac Cotelin<br> <br> _________________________________<br> <br> I have always enjoyed working with Duga. From his work as Dinaari Aedile to Consul of our victorious Clan, Duga's natural talent when it comes to leading always shines through. In all honesty, we'd all be pretty lost without Duga. He is a constant source of strength for our clan. When something needs to be "just done", Duga is always around to get the ball rolling. He's picked up projects that were, for all intents and purposes, left for dead. He's taken initiative in starting new projects. Lastly, he leads by example. In addition to his duties as Consul, Duga excels in regular activity.<br> <br> Duga really is the glue that keeps our summit together, and it's a position he truly excels at. He takes long-forgotten projects like the invitational and actually completes them. Duga was vital in the planning of a very successful clan feud with Arcona. But those are only the bigger projects. One glance at Duga's summit plans page on Tal.org shows just how much work he does around here.<br> <br> I've always thought that leading by example is a very important trait for any leader. Duga is quite obviously a model member for younger generations. I mean, if the truly insane number of "Cluster of Fire"s doesn't impress someone, then maybe Duga placing third in the GJW will. In light of the small margin of victory, one could say that without Duga's participation, we wouldn't have placed first in the war.<br> <br> All I can say is:<br> Thank you Duga for all that you do.<br> <br> -Ben<br> <br> ______________________________<br> <br> Duga is one of those people who you can never say too many good things about. He consistently goes out of his way to make sure things happen the way that they need to. His leadership during GJW 6 was invaluable to Taldryan; even though we started off strong by the last month of the war we would have faltered without Duga to guide, prod and yell at us to keep moving forward. Duga is such an incredible asset to the clan, without his leadership we'd be hard pressed to be able to keep up the kind of excellence that is expected from Taldryan.<br> <br> Battlelord Taku Matsuki Taldrya, Son of Taldryan and Aedile of House Ektrosis of Taldryan<br> <br> __________________________________<br> <br> I'd like to recommend Duga to receive a nice shiny for all the time and effort he put into getting Taldryan through the GJW in first place.<br> <br> As well as personally competing in hundreds of matches (alright, maybe a slight exaggeration there... but not much! :P), he was easily the most organised CON that I've ever had the pleasure of working with during a major competition. He kept a spreadsheet of each individual's activity to ensure that they would be fairly rewarded at the end, and checked each person's points to make sure Taldryan wasn't being short-changed. He could have delegated those tedious jobs, but he didn't - he realised the importance that each individual makes in a competition like this, and he put his own time into ensuring that each individual's efforts would be recognised.<br> <br> Duga, thanks for all your work for Taldryan. I honestly don't think we would have held onto 1st place without you! It's just a shame you went and got yourself promoted before the GJW! :P ~Alanna

Telona has served admirably in many positions in the Brotherhood, most noteably as Krath High Priestess and Proconsul. I have to say, though, I've never appreciated her more than for her work as Dark Voice Tribune. Since the Dark Voice was re-built three years ago, I have personally struggled to balance working on the publication with my other duties. I was relied on for content and delivery, but with Telona, I have been able to step away completely. She has taken ownership over the publication and given it a fresh feel. Her ideas for the Member's Edition are excellent and will spur more activity and chances for people to have their work read. Her work in preparation of each DV makes the process mush easier. She has managed a capable staff and has helped them in delivering a fine product. I can't begin to relate how much I appreciate being able to delegate the Dark Voice fully. Telona is doing a wonderful job with it, and I thank her for that.<br> <br> - GM Jac Cotelin<br> <br> ------------------------------------------------------<br> <br> Telona has long been a member of Tarentum, and throughout her entire career with this Clan, has been a friend and mentor to many of its members. She began working in leadership as the Tetrarch of the Mystics before eventually becoming Quaestor of Gladius. it was only a matter of time before she would serve on the Clan Summit, and working with Welshman as his Proconsul, Telona served to continue her streak of mentoring and innovation. She cared for the Master/Apprentice system within the Clan, and was constantly working with Welshman on ideas to further the needs of the members, no matter what their rank. Telona worked to stay involved with the Clan as a whole, and was active both through emails and IRC, as a source of knowledge and communication. She has since departed the Clan to take care of personal and family needs, but she is one of those people who will always have a place within the Clan reserved specifically for her, and she will always have friends wherever Tarentum exists.<br> <br> Thank you for your attitude, hard work, and friendship to our Clan, Telona. Come home soon.<br> <br> -DJM Sith Bloodfyre-Tarentae

The sun is setting on over one and a half years of service to the Antei Combat Centre for Telona Murrage (2/2005 - 9/2006). As a Trainer, as a Judge and as an Operator she has held the hand of many an Initiate, decided the outcomes of numerous battles and performed the duties of her position with honor and an unwavering fairness and accuracy. There is a reason why she gets a million challenges a day - word gets around, and in Telona's case - the word is good. There are people who actually want to learn, not just 'get by', and from what I've seen, she's one of the main 'go to' Trainers - which does the whole of the Centre a great service. The Adept was also pivotal in the re-creation of the ACC Initiate's Course, bringing it up to date with the changes the Centre had seen since the course's inception. She was awarded a GC (2/2006) based, in part, on the SA contribution, but I felt compelled to mention its importance again. Courses get old and outdated, and in the case of the 'ever-changing' ACC, that fact is multiplied. It takes someone with a vision of something greater to jump in feet first and get it done, without prodding, and Telona has that vision for the whole of the Brotherhood. In addition, her role in the creation of the ACC's NPC Creatures was astounding. She personally developed ten individual character sheets for the ACC's ten creatures, measuring their bonuses and penalties to a system she helped create; creating a diversity and capability within the creatures, beyond mere numbers. We cannot say if they will be a huge hit, or merely float into obscurity - but that is why her contribution was so special. She didn't analyze it until it was put on a shelf in frustration - she drove into it headlong and gave the Centre a product that will, inevitably, put the ball in the court of the members. She gave us the best she had, many times over, and is the last of the Krath High Priests to be on the Centre's training staff. As I am hovering over this recommendation, I am seeing what is meant by "Exceptional services in the form of single projects or long-term leadership to a Clan or single Council office.". As the Centre's staff goes through its metamorphosis, yet again, I fear that we will not see any one else like her, we can hope, but not hold our breath. She is being moved to Magistrate, so not lost forever, but the impact of her loss will be felt. There isn't much I can do or say that will fully relate my thanks to her. We salute her for her dedication to the Brotherhood and the Centre and her continuing service, and ask that her departure from 'active training' be marked with the Emerald Dagger. ~DA Dalthid; 20061007

As Grand Master, I always look for competent, self-driven and innovative leaders to help in the efforts of the Dark Council. In my time here I have been absolutely blessed to have a great series of DC members. Anshar Kahn is no exception to this. Since the day he was appointed to Praetor to the Headmaster through today where he serves with distinction as Headmaster, Anshar has been an amazing driving force in the Shadow Academy. Today, I gladly award him with an Emerald Dagger.<br> <br> Anshar has always impressed me with his quiet attention to detail and drive for excellence. As Headmaster, his job is often unseen by the older members of the Brotherhood, but the newest members appreciate it so much. Anshar’s efforts in leading the SA and overseeing the Society of Envoys is what keeps this club alive – the new members he teaches are our lifeblood. Anshar constantly takes time to help the new members get accustomed to the DB – without him many would be lost.<br> <br> Anshar has also expanded upon the Shadow Academy since taking over. We have seen a variety of new courses added to the site, and the staff works diligently as ever. Recently, the number of people that have passed exams since Anshar took office surpassed 1000, a great achievement indeed. The SA Site continues development and soon the whole Academy will have a new look.<br> <br> What I like most about Anshar is that he puts effort into making sure things are going in the right direction. He does not like the status quo and always pushes for more. He always has his EPs going back and revamping their courses. Things like the Big Envoy report, too, are essential for knowing how well the DB is doing.<br> <br> Anshar is a big asset to the DB – I am grateful that he is on the Dark Council and working day in and day out to improve our club. <br> <br> Thank you for all that you do, Anshar. We appreciate you.<br> <br> Grand Master Jac Cotelin <br> <br> ___________________<br> <br> What can be said about Anshar Kahn Tarentae that hasn’t already been said? Anshar is the driving force behind all the recent improvement and expansion of the Shadow Academy. He is constantly looking for new ways for the Shadow Academy to reach out to the members of the Brotherhood. <br> <br> During his career in the Brotherhood he’s served with distinction in many important posts; Consul of Tarentum, Knight Commander of the Brotherhood, and now Headmaster of the Brotherhood. With each new position came new challenges and he rose to the task and not only performed as he was expected, but went above and beyond and excelled in the positions.<br> <br> Anshar has a work ethic that I’ve not seen duplicated by many members of the Brotherhood. He does his duty because he has a genuine desire to make the club a better place, not because he knows it’s a way to get more promotions or shiny little baubles to put in his medal case. His focus has always been improvement of the club for others, something I find very admirable.<br> <br> I believe wholeheartedly that Anshar deserves this award, for the Brotherhood is most definitely a better place in many areas due to his work. Please give this recommendation all due consideration and consider bestowing this esteemed award upon him.<br> <br> Dark Jedi Knight Kromtal Stormfyld<br> SC/StA/DC/Cr-2S-1E/CF/LSS/SI<br>

This fellow gets things done, <br> and I have seen the results of his hard work. The current advancement <br> survey is a fine example. His work as KCB was outstanding. I saw <br> constant emails, and things like the Clan Envoy challenges that <br> awarded fictional vessels. Anshar has gone well beyond what one might <br> expect from a Headmaster. The Shadow Academy is abuzz with activity. <br> He truly deserves to be awarded for his strenuous efforts for the DB. <br> <br> SBM Mononoke "Macron" Keibatsu-Goura (Sith)/FM-EP-T:DSC/Ludo Kressh of <br> Naga Sadow, Alchemist, Dark Maven, Echani Master, Gladiator Prime <br> DSC Tribune <br> Fifth Caste of the Inner Order of CNS <br> Quaestor Emeritus <br> Free Envoy <br> Black Guard of the Quaestor of Ludo Kressh <br> Keibatsu Samurai and General <br> <br> Anshar is by far a capable leader and friend. In this matter, my utmost support is given.<br> <br> Signed this day July 5th of year 2006<br> <br> Krath Priestess Sylvana Katase<br> <br> Ever since Anshar took over Spear's former position as Headmaster of the Shadow Academy, he knew that he would have to live up to the high standards members were setting for him. Even though he's from Tarentum (:P), he has done a wonderful job making sure that new members are moving along in the halls of the Shadow Academy as well as talking with the EPs, making sure that jobs are being done and taking any suggestions extremely well. Anshar's enthusiasm and great work ethic have truly made the Shadow Academy Staff and the Society of Envoys work extremely hard to get new members involved and interested. He has done an incredible job trying to boost new member's interests to get them through the ranks by helping the Envoys get their jobs done in a more efficient and timely manner. Although the Envoys are no longer under his direct control, he still keeps in touch with us, offering suggestions if needed and supervising Siyavash's work. I wholeheartedly believe that he deserves such an award as an Emerald Dagger.<br> <br> Obelisk Templar RevengeX Palpatine<br> <br> The award criterion for the Emerald Dagger is reserved for members who have: "contributed to the growth and functionality of their Order or the Brotherhood as a whole in the form of competitions or activities." It is my humble opinion that Anshar has fully met the standard for this award during his tenure at the head of the Shadow Academy. Anshar has encouraged the continuing growth of that venerable institution in several ways: by incorporating his staff in decisions of policy; by encouraging the expansion of the current curriculum; and the sponsorship of Envoy competitions. <br> <br> Sith Warrior Sato Bruth'Kothae<br> Dark Maven, <br> Aedile of Gladius, <br> Ecclectic Pedagouge: The Test of Wisdom,<br> SB / GC / SC-SoA / StA-LS / DC-KC-O-CS / Cr-3S-1E-5T / LSS / SI-SoW-SoL / SoL / S:-1Al<br> <br> I usually am not the man to be writing speeches or other things of the sort. But when I look at all the work done by our beloved Headmaster I know nobody deserves this more than him. He is, according to me, one of the most hardworking and dedicated members of the brotherhood. In my opinion Dark Side Adept Anshar Kahn Tarentae deserves an Emerald Dagger for all the hard work he has done for the Shadow Academy and for the brotherhood at large.<br> <br> JH Ood Bnar (Krath)/TYR-EP/Acclivis Draco of Scholae Palatinae [ACC: CL:1] <br> PIN: 3317<br> <br> Award of 'Emerald Dagger'<br> Anshar Kahn Tarentae (308)<br> <br> What cannot be said about Anshar that everyone already knows or have previously stated? Here is an individual that has revolutionized (and still keeps an eye on it) the Knight's Society of Envoys, willingly took over as Consul of Tarentum - only to give up the position to assume the mantle of HeadMaster. Each of these positions requires excessive work, dedication and 'fresh' thinking from outside the box. Sadly, we are no longer wowed when he dazzles us - simply because we now expect great things from him as the norm. So as a reward for the Brotherhood Advancement Reports, an excellent track record as Knight Commander, Consul and now Head Master - I fully endorse this recommendation. <br> <br> KAP Braecen Kunar<br> <br> Anshar Kahn Tarentae was my Consul when I joined the DB. From that day I have respected and looked up to him as the epitome of selfless hard work. In every position he has had, that I've encountered him, he has done his absolute best to make sure that what he is doing is for the best of the members. Not to get noticed, promoted or "shiny'd" like so many others, but simply because he believes that the members come first.<br> <br> As the HM, he is now the solid base upon which the Shadow Academy stands. He always has the patience to explain things to me, something for which I am extremely grateful. I have a tendency to annoy people with all the questions I can come up with, but he has never gotten frustrated or even given me short answers. I know that if I get stuck, he'll be there to help (and fix whatever it is that I've messed up). He has the rare ability to make you feel like you are the most important person in the world when he talks to you. That is how much time he spends on making sure that the members are happy.<br> <br> The one thing that I believe all leaders should have, but most don't, is patience and a tenacity to carry on, no matter what opposition you receive. Anshar accepts input from others, not shooting down opinions no matter how bad they might be, without losing his own ground in the process. He doesn't just blindly follow whatever is deemed as popular opinion, he takes the time to evaluate the pro's and con's of every decision he makes. As such he listens to every person, evaluating what they have to say without judgment and even without resentment if you challenge his views.<br> <br> As HM he has taken to revamping the SA, giving it a fictional background and by the sounds of it, a new website that will rock. That is something I greatly appreciate. I love the SA, but it has received a lot of negative hype because of the auto-promotions. Anshar has taken it upon himself to fix the negative image and give something back to the members that they can be proud of again.<br> <br> Anshar deserves this award for his dedication, hard work and all the unnoticed little things he has done behind the scenes since taking up the reigns as HM.<br> <br> DJK Selene<br> #6694<br> I've known and worked with Anshar for nearly two years now on many different levels. First of all I was his Aedile in House Gladius of Tarentum, then as his Proconsul in Tarentum and now as one of the many EPs who serve under him to welcome, introduce and train members new to this institution. Over these years of service I have come to harbour a deep respect and I would hope friendship with this great man. <br> His dedication to those he has been elected to serve his legendary, he'll go out of his way to make anyone feel welcome and appreciated, a trait that no doubt serves him well as the public face of an institution such as the Shadow Academy. He is a man of many ideas with grand plans and projects he strives to bring to fruition, I've seen this happen in Gladius, I've seen it happen under his Consularship and with the projects he has been instituting in the Academy, the revamp of the CORE courses, the expansion of the fictional aspects of the courses and supervising the redevelopment of the site.<br> As long as I have known him his one aspiration has been to become the Headmaster of the Shadow Academy and it's great to see a person who has reached his desired position and to keep working for it. Anshar will never take a position for granted and will continue to strive for perfection. <br> I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award.<br> Congratulations Anshar.<br> SBL Welshman Corsair Tarentae <br> <br> Since Anshar took over his office, he has done amazing things and doesn't seem to want to stop doing them. The Character History Guidelines, course improvements including the currently running project to make the courses sound more fiction like and the redesign work are just some of those things. I could probably write up a whole page, but I am sure others will do that already, so I'll just say i believe Anshar has fully earned an Emerald Dagger. <br> <br> DJM Arania Lawakiro<br>

As posted on the DB news page:<br> <br> Greetings everyone,<br> <br> Sad news from the summit offices in CNS this week: Consul Korras is stepping down. For those of you who don't know Korras well, I don't know what rock you've been living under. This is a member that flew through the ranks and took on leadership positions from the start. He has served for long periods of time as Proconsul (twice) and Consul and he also had a very successful tenure as our Obelisk High Commander. Korras has helped to build CNS into a powerhouse of activity today and has instigated changes into the Brotherhood that have taken us a long way.<br> <br> The good thing is that Korras isn't going to go far. He may not know it yet, but there's no way he can stay away. Korras is one of the DB's greatest "people persons." He can talk to everyone and always takes up the proper cause. Once he gets a bit of his pazaz back after a break, I have no doubt that Korras will be firing it up on IRC and trying to improve the DB once more.<br> <br> I normally shy away from giving any sort of retirement gifts, but this one is an exception...because it wasn't planned as a retirement gift at all. Kaek, Goat and I have regular conversations about who to reward for their efforts, and in our last conversation (before we knew of Korras stepping down) we had decided that is was high time that Korras get more than that SB on his dossier.<br> <br> Korras, for your influential service as Consul, Proconsul and Obelisk High Commander, for your time as Left Hand of Justice, for your constant activity in the debates regarding changes to the DB, for your advocacy of Members' rights, for your unending drive to see things done right, for your great leadership in the clan through the feud and most of the GJW, and for being a great friend to all, we hereby award you with an Emerald Dagger. Congratulations, and thanks.<br> <br> With that said, I still unfortunately have to find someone to fill Korras's big shoes. That person was not far off -- the Proconsul of Naga Sadow, Manesh, will be taking the reigns of the clan. I have seen Manesh grow into a great leader; he has been essential in CNS's effort in the War. I trust that he will do an excellent job in leading the clan. Congratulations, Manesh.<br>

Korras has been a great leader for my clan. He has also shown me that my leaders care about me, the little guy, just as much as the next guy. When I had an issue that had to do with this GJW I thought my leadership was ignoring me, the little guy, but then I saw what Korras had been doing behind the scenes. He fought hard for me to get a response in a reasonable time so I would not have to lose out on a great opportunity. I had become disheartened by the whole war by this time and he reminded me that I do count and am a valuable player. Without Korras I would not have made 5th place in the ACC event. I think Korras deserves to receive the biggest and best award there is out there. If not for Korras I'd have gone Rogue and never come back.

DJK Sharmin Wheyes (Krath)/TYR/Marka Ragnos of Naga Sadow [ACC: CL:1]

Korras has been a vital and important part of our Clan since day one. He has worked hard to protect the rights of the individuals, and to allow each individual to have the ability to participate. His positive outlook helped make the Clan stronger, despite all the storms that buffeted it from time to time. Although he didn't have to, much of the politics that are involved in the higher levels were kept out of the Clan, so that the members could just focus on having fun. For these reasons, and for many others, I would recommend Korras for an award deemed appropriate for his level of dedication and commitment. ~Kat Pridemore

Krath Archpriestess Kat Pridemore Proconsul of Clan Naga Sadow

I appreciated Korras a lot when I was his Proconsul. I think he took a lot of unnecessary crap from people in the clan, mainly from militant members of our clan who want to control it. What's funny is that this entire time, people would come to complain to me, giving me the impression that there was a "Korras" faction in CNS, and a "Manesh" faction. Of course, I didn't have a problem with Korras. I thought he was good, and able to deal with the Dark Council better than I would ever be able to. People criticized Korras for not doing certain things, but if he had done them, it would have been a duplication of effort between the two of us. I honestly never thought that Korras failed the clan, I feel that the clan failed Korras. Trust me, now that I'm the Consul, I'm getting some of the same crap from the membership, and so I completely empathize.

During the Great Jedi War, there were times where one of our members felt slighted by the rules. And while I'd start freaking out over it, Korras actually did things. He confronted those members of the Dark Council responsible, and fought for those members. Unfortunately, those efforts went unappreciated.

I asked several people to submit recommendations for this award, and I got a handful of responses. Some people do not like Korras, but from my new perspective as Consul, I've discovered that some of those people have unfairly judged him. In 2006, being the Consul of Clan Naga Sadow has become the toughest job in the Dark Brotherhood. Being Consul is like performing at the Apollo. It's a tough crowd, and they wille eat you alive.

It is unfortunate that Korras's career ends like this. I really do hope he comes back to activity at the DB-wide level, because he has the skills and responsibility to really impact the Dark Brotherhood for the better. I mean, look at the Obelisk Rite of Supremacy he ran. That was the smoothest, most interesting operation I've ever seen in the Dark Brotherhood. He's one of the good ones.

Dark Adept Manesh Sadow Consul of Clan Naga Sadow

Since becoming Commander of the Guard Khobai has helped revive what was a dying institution. When he took over a lot of people were ready to lay the GMRG to rest once and for all, but here we are nine months later and interest in the GMRG is better than it has been in a long time. Today the GMRG has purpose, pulling off successfully the fine line between an elite unit and one able to accommodate the whole DB.

Khobai has persevered through a time when many would have thrown in a the towel, despite a troubled public opinion of the GMRG he has helped transform it into something in which many members now find enjoyment. The expansion of the GMRG ranks, the Loyalty system, regular competititions, an upcoming Shadow War; all things that appeal to those looking for something to aim for on a long-term basis, even if they are unable to get promoted elsewhere. He has also incorporated non-gaming elements into the GMRG successfully for the first time, something predecessors have tried but never managed to integrate quite as well as the GMRG in its current incarnation.

All this Khobai has managed while for a consider deal of time being Proconsul alongside his GMRG commitments, and also without the aide of a database, having to maintain all the lists and Loyalty scores on gmrg.darkjedibrotherhood.com manually. He has also begun to apply his knowledge of the real Imperial Royal Guard from the Crimson Empire stories to flesh out the fictional role of the GMRG, something in time we will hopefully see take form even more with things like the GMRG Force Powers etc.

All in all, Khobai has been one of best, if not the best, Commanders of the Guard in recent history. His work has helped keep the GMRG alive when otherwise it would already have been consigned to the history books. For this he more than deserves this Emerald Dagger.

Congrats to the Khobasaurus!

As Grand Master, it is a dream to have a Dark Council with self-motivated, independent and initiative-filled members. I constantly look to the Dark Council members to step up and fill their roles with new ideas, to work without being prodded along, and to have a pride in their work that is second to none.

Dalthid has exceeded every expectation I have had for him in his role s Combat Master. He has served in the position for over a year now, and in every aspect of the ACC he has made great improvements.

Most recently, Dalthid has made leaps and bounds worth of progress in adding to the documentation for the ACC. He has overhauled the compendium, created manuals for judges and trainers and created guides for new members. He has been hard at work making sure that every idea in his head is transferred to hard copy -- a goal that you should now know matches exactly what I want to see for the whole of the DB.

Dalthid is consistent. He is knowledgeable. He loves his job and will do his best to make sure the ACC succeeds. If I had my druthers, he would be CM forever -- no leaving, Dal.

We appreciate all that you do, Dalhid. As recognition of that, I hereby award you an Emerald Dagger.

Congrats! Jac

If real life forced me to resign the position of Grand Master tomorrow, there is not a single person who I would feel more comfortable with having take over my role than Kir Katarn. It hasn't always been that way -- three months ago I would have told you that Kir had some huge shoes to fill in replacing Mav. Today, I can tell you that Kir has demonstrated that he can fill that role of Deputy Grand Master, and that he is competent and resourceful enough to lead the Brotherhood on his own should it come to that.

That's really all that needs be said: Kir has proven himself as Deputy Grand Master. But who can stop there?

This isn't the first time that Kir has shown his abilities in such a fashion. In Taldryan, Kir, relatively unproven at the time, took a clan that was on the verge of losing its prominence and re-instituted the pride and dominance that had been prevalent years earlier. I will be the first to admit that Kir was a better Consul than I was. He won't yet get his chance to out-do me at Grand Master, but he has definitely proved that he was the man to choose for Deputy Grand.

Working with Kir is different than it was to work with Mav, though in many ways it feels the same. Both had an immense understanding of people and communication. Each was willing to step into the areas of the Brotherhood that needed their immediate attention and fix the problems that I simply could not get to. Kir, like Mav, intensely cares about doing things the right way and wants to have a lasting impact on the Brotherhood.

The stark difference between the DGMs has come in their advisory role. Whereas Mav kept me patient and always had a cautious approach to change, Kir is always pushing my limits. What I have found is that the personalities have fit the times very well; today we need some change and Kir is the right man to help me bring it forth. I appreciate his candor, his willingness to work through problems and his attention to detail.

The true brunt of this award comes tonight from Kir's work with Clan Plagueis. Although many disagreed with the decision to have Kir step in as temporary Consul, I think the writing is on the wall that his time there has been successful. The lists and lists of projects accomplished, the successful tapping of an excellent Proconsul, the training of a good base of leadership to keep the clan running -- these are things that were necessary for the Clan's survival, and Kir had the drive and experience to bring it. As his time there comes to an end, I think it is only right to thank him for what he has done.

I am looking forward to seeing what Kir will bring to the table next. He is a committed leader and we make a great team. It is an honor to have him as my Deputy.

Kir as an acknowledgement for your extraordinary service in the final months as Taldryan Consul and your first three months as Deputy Grand Master, I hereby award you with an Emerald Dagger.

Congratulations!

Grand Master Jac Cotelin

It is my honor to recommend Dark Side Adept Kir Taldrya Katarn for the Emerald Dagger. In the past two months Kir has excelled in the dual role of Consul of Clan Plagueis and as Deputy Grand Master of the Dark Brotherhood. I have had the privilege of watching Kir's impact on Clan Plagueis first hand. His leadership skills have brought order, motivation, and activity to a Clan that was struggling to find its place in the Dark Brotherhood. Kir's reconstruction plan has produced a new Clan website, a new Master/Student Program, a new Clan Logo, new Flagship and Squadron names, a new Clan "Family" name, new Clan Force Powers, new Clan RPG style ceremonies, and a new section to the Clan Newspaper. Kir has supervised the creation of each of these new projects and inspired the Clan membership to actively participate in the creation of their Clan's history.

The successes of Clan Plagueis and the projects that are currently taking place owe a great deal to Kir's leadership style. Kir had the opportunity to move into the Clan and dominate all operations. Instead, he allowed the members of Clan Plagueis to actively pursue their own ideas. Kir set a general framework and intent for the Clan to work toward and then he allowed the membership to excel and create.

Kir has handled his responsibility as Consul of Clan Plagueis with the utmost professionalism. He has encountered many situations that lesser men would have lost their tempers in; however, Kir remained calm and would seek a solution to problems that benefited all parties.

Please award the Emerald Dagger to Kir Taldrya Katarn for his success in reorganizing Clan Plagueis and for his shining example of how a leader should deal with adversity and challenge.

When Mav took a leave of absence last autumn, the responsibilities of the Deputy Grand Master went largely undone. A member of our Dark Council was missing, and a very important advisor on club affairs was no longer present. I don't know about Jac, but it left a gaping handicap on my ability to get my job done in an efficient and timely manner. Furthermore, it caused me a great deal of anxiety because it was hard to represent Mav's opinions on various topics without him actually being there. It was difficult to realize how the club could ever replace Mav when he decided to resign.

Even when Kir was selected to replace Mav, I was skeptical and uncertain. Certainly this Dark Adept knew what he was doing--after all he personally crafted one of the most successful clans in the Dark Brotherhood. Why should I be doubtful? Well, he certainly was no Mav, he seemed less than energetic during the time before his resignation as Consul, and I was not entirely familiar with his stance on several topics of concern within the DB. It's hard to bring in an unknown stranger into your house and have the utmost faith in him.

However, as it would soon be revealed, Kir Katarn was no novice to the workings of the Brotherhood. Indeed, his knowledgeable energy was a refreshing motivator. His progressive attitude was perfectly in line with ours, and when it came time to getting stuff done, Kir was a diligent workhorse, keeping us moving. The quality of work earned high marks and was thorough.

When the crisis of Clan Plagueis struck, Kir stepped in and helped rebuild a clan that many critics believed was destined for closure. Wielding a respectful yet progressive fist, Kir worked with the existing infrastructure and personnel to bolster leadership, review and revise policies, and build new infrastructure to achieve stability that the Clan has not seen in several months. As his work draws to a close, amazement simply does not begin to describe the witnesses of his labor.

What is truly amazing is that during all of his efforts as Consul of Plagueis, Kir has also done an extraordinary job as Deputy Grand Master. A reliable counsel, Kir provides reams of sound, logical advice that often provides meaningful insight. He is a great advisor for Jac -- I really can't think of anyone better suited for the job.

Kir is a friend, and I trust him just like I trust Jac or Mav. I respect him with all of the respect deserved of someone in this club who serves as Deputy Grand Master. He has filled Mav's shoes in a great way, is contributing to the stability of the Council, and has helped secure a brighter future for our organization. I can't wait to see what else Kir will help our club accomplish within the next year. Thanks Kir for all that you do!

During my time as Quaestor of House Satal Keto Kir has been both my leader as CON and a great mentor. There are few people in the DB that I trust and look to for advice as often as I do Kir. His calm and logical way of going about things have more than once kept me from doing something very stupid. He both asks the right questions and knows when it is time to push someone in the direction they need to go.

Kir has been wearing dual hats of late, serving as both the DGM and CP CON. Most leaders in the DB have a hard enough time juggling all the demands of one position let alone two very senior and demanding positions. His leadership is inspiring and clear to those under him, both with the general membership and his subordinate leaders. I fully endorse his being awarded an Emerald Dagger and finally being recognized for all the hard work and diligence he puts into the Brotherhood.
